FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips
Welcome to the FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips article. Well, that was fun while it lasted. Our rank took a proper beating last week unfortunately, so thank gawd our transfer of Costa worked otherwise we’d be in deep poo poo. We scored just 38pts in GW4 vs an average of 43, which saw us fall from a rank of 22,450 down to 78,944. There are very few highlights for us to be brag about – Costa was clearly the best performer with his 12pt return from a Sunday in Wales, while Baines chipped in with a clean sheet and two baps on Monday night at Sunderland. Zlatan was the only other performer who managed to notch more than 2pts as the Swede scored his customary goal in the derby but blotted his copybook with a reckless yellow card. Pape Souare was so desperate to get out of our team (or Pardew’s) that he smashed up his car on the M4 and looks to be missing for a while. So, much to ponder for this week.
TRANSFER DECISION THIS WEEK
Sometimes in FPL your transfer stares in you in the face, it’s an easy call, you do it and walk away happy. Other times you look and see so many combinations and possibilities that it actually seems impossible to pick the right one. The latter was where we ended up this week. The reason for this was that we had not only £4.0m in the bank (£3.0m of that being Kun money) but also 2 FT’s to play with and the possibility of a wildcard to utilise at some point.
We had that many possible scenarios and suggestions floating around that we had to strip it back to the basics and these were our realistic options this week –
Using just one transfer
– Sell Gray for a one week punt on Iheanacho
This would leave us with enough next week to swap both him and Costa for Kun and possibly Benteke depending on price changes.
– Sell Souare for someone.
We never got as far as discussing who!
Using two transfers
– Sell Costa and Gray for some combo of Kane / Lukaku / Iheanacho
This was dependant on then wildcarding next week and the theory was that we could just do anything this week really given that the Kun money was up for grabs and wouldn’t matter. Basically the fun option!
Eventually it was decided that a WC wasn’t really necessary at this stage for us and also the one Liverpool fan we have on the panel insisted that we keep Costa because he was adamant he would score against them! And on that we couldn’t really disagree. And so we went back to the one transfer option and Iheanacho won the vote given the limited options at that price range and staying within our allocated ‘Kun fund budget’. He is purely a one week punt and we wouldn’t recommend people follow suit unless you have a clear exit strategy like we do – 2 FT’s next week with the intention of selling him for Kun along with another move. And having the funds to do so.
Our transfer this week – Sell Gray, Buy Iheanacho
THE TEAM IN FULL FOR GW5 –
Our captain is Zlatan Ibrahimovic and our vice-captain is Kelechi Iheanacho
Now that took some spelling! It also took a good deal of work arriving at the decision too. Full disclosure here we were about 2 minutes away from a vote deadline and young Kelechi had it in his grasp. And then America woke up! A certain fantasy manager from across the pond had fallen asleep at the wheel of his lawn mower but woke up in a start at the sound of a hundred WhatsApp messages and as he wiped the sleep from his eyes he then lazily typed ‘Ibra’ and that was that, Zlatan had his majority. Hey, what can you do, said manager is after all on the verge of finishing 2nd in MLS for the 2nd year running so we do kind of have to listen to his wisdom sometimes.
Given our rank thus far it probably isn’t the worst decision to stick with the pack and given that Zlatan’s ownership is so high and that one would expect a good majority to go with him this week as captain then if he was to get a good haul it would do us a fair bit of damage. On the other hand the thinking with the complete differential was probably all about how much ground we would make up if he nailed it. It’s a fine balance. Let’s hope we got it right or the lawnmower man may be getting some stick!
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.
Chaps,
Heres my WC team. Rashly did my wildcard after plummeting down the ranking last week. All set on it bar the possibility Collins may not play.
I may switch him to either Manquillo of Sunderland, Pieters of Stoke, or Byram of West Ham (although I don’t think he is nailed on either)
Thoughts?
Among nailed on 4.5 who may have a decent sniff of a Clean sheet in the next few weeks that you don’t yet have are Middlesborough. In fact their chances rotate rather nicely with Watford – mainly avoiding top5 teams rather than home/away or anything pointless like that.
Yeh I did have a boro defender in before my WC, just not convinced by their fixtures. I’m leaning towards Stoke even though they have been so poor so far
Hey guys, how’s it going? Anyone care to guess the chances of KDB getting rested or coming off the bench this gw? Going for a one week punt before WC next week, thinking KDB or maybe Lukaku, though I don’t think Middlesbrough will be a goal fest tbh. Who’s the best City attacker this week in your opinion?
Hey Red, probably safest are Iheanacho and Nolito, but bear with me as the City presser is about to start.
Iheanacho as he only played 10 mins (and still scored a goal), Nolito will also play and can be a solid choice
Thanks guys, I’ll sit tight and wait for the pressers. Kinda wish Liverpool v Chelsea wasn’t today, early deadline is messing up my FPL routine, though I’m excited to have the day off to watch it!
Hello. This is my first post ever on FF247 but I have been following you for a while now. Great articles. I have one question. Is there any way to look up a particular team in the game if I know the team name but we are not in any league together?
KGB, welcome to the site. To be honest, and as far as I know, there is no search facility by team name in the game.
Don’t think so, if you have team id than you can see it
You are in the whole world league together.
Though admittedly scrolling through 70,000 pages of teams is a task not worth the candle.
Google it KGB. Type their team name followed by Fantasy Premier League. I just did it with mine and bingo it went straight to my current team page.
Any ideas how to improve my team? 1FT perhaps Negredo to Lukaku (who I hate with all my heart for always disappointing me)?
KGB, I prefer Iheanacho if it is a one-week punt pre-Aguero.
Lukaku is fine and will score you points over the season but will frustrate the hell out of you along the way!
Amat translates from Welsh as ‘bench fodder’.
It’s where he belongs.
Hey guys
Who to field out of these 3
Snodgrass Ars(h)
Capoue MUN(h)
Amat SOU (A)
Go for the attackers
Stewy
Snodgrass then Capoue I think.
Stewy To make it hard Capoue Watford will create more chances 😉
Ok does anyone want to talk me out of sticking Kane in & putting the armband on him if so who ????
Silvers
Wouldn’t dream of talking you out of that mate. He could very easily trod the same path as Lukaku.
Cheers GP I still have until 7 to decide but by then I will have had a few beers so I could go with anyone haha
