Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW8

When you’re down in the depths of 6 million, a green arrow should be easier to come by — however, that’s not always a given. Our team probably needs a wildcard, but as ever, this week it looks okay.

Like many, we backed Forest to continue where they left off last season and, like many, we’ve been let down. Just 15pts from Sels this season is poor — he’s 26pts behind this season’s top-scoring keeper (Pope, 41pts), and even our backup keeper has scored more (20pts). Another disappointing 3pts from the Forest keeper and we’re beginning to seriously lose patience.

Thankfully, the rest of our defence came up with the goods. Porro may not have kept a clean sheet, but he did hit DEFCON and registered an assist for a nice 7pts. Similarly, Muñoz failed to keep the Toffees at bay but, like Porro, he hit DEFCON and topped it off with a goal for 8pts. Making up the trio is Cucurella — he didn’t hit DEFCON, but he did grab an assist and 2 bonus points for 7pts. Who needs clean sheets anyway?

Ndiaye continues to tick along nicely: another goal, another 7pts. It was Kudus, though, who was our star of the week. A goal, an assist and max bonus — 12pts we very much needed. Elsewhere, it was not so good; only Haaland contributed anything meaningful, with another goal and a welcome 16pts from our captain.

We finished the gameweek with 68pts8pts above the average and enough to take our rank from 6,055,864 up to 5,391,590. Slowly, slowly and all that.

We have £0.2m in the bank and 2 free transfer to use ahead of GW8. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW8 Transfer(s)

With 2 free transfers we had plenty of options. We ran the usual polls and in the end settled on a double move for Enzo and Thiaw. The thinking was simple: we’d buy into a Newcastle defence that has been rock solid — keeping 5/7 clean sheets this season — and we’d get Enzo, who, with Palmer out for the foreseeable future, is likely on pens and the most promising Chelsea mid to step up in Palmer’s absence.

Making way would be Anderson, whose steady stream of blanks has done nothing to further our cause, and Cucurella. Truth be told, we didn’t really want to sell the latter. Chelsea have nice fixtures on the horizon and, as he showed against Liverpool, he can still provide decent returns even when the Blues inevitably lose their clean sheet. However, with 3 Chelsea players already and funds at an all-time low, sadly he became the sacrifice.

We hoped for some positive news on Enzo to make life easy, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. So, we put it to another vote — and you’ll never guess what we decided to do. Yup, we’re rolling again. On the surface this may look like a slightly relaxed approach, but our starting XI actually looks decent (famous last words), and going into GW9 with 3 FTs might open things up a little more.

The armband will remain with the robot. The Salah temptation is real, but we simply cannot ignore Haaland’s form and expected EO. Throw in the fact that just owning Salah is differential enough, and it becomes an easy decision in the end.

To confirm then, we have rolled our transfer

That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

Ok, thinking it’s time to ditch a few players, but can’t get rid of them all unless I wildcard, which, having 5ft is a waste.
Firstly Wood needs to go, and being flagged helps.
But who- Bowen, JPedro or Woltemorde (it whatever his name is!!)
Whoever I get won’t give me any extra funds to change anyone else.
    Any suggestions?

      Wood > Woltemade
      Konsa > Gudmundsson
      Williams > Alderete
Kelleher / Verbruggen > Dúbravka – sell whichever GK you feel is best, idk can Brighton turn it around with there upcoming okay fixtures?
      Anderson > Rice

The two DEF moves, you could also do VVD > Chalobah / Senesi / Guéhi

Also look at Barry and Baleba to free up funds, Baleba > King, it may be worth a -4pts to get players in so you can play 3-5-2, or maybe instead of the GK changes.

Do you have the funds for that?

You need to get Chelsea and Arsenal attacking players/options in your team,

      • Terminators says:

i don’t know if you can work on getting in Woltemade, Rice and Enzo

Timber, Van De, VVD OR Chalobah / Senesi / Guéhi
        Rice, Enzo, Kudos, Reij, Salah
        Woltermade, Haaland

          How about these changes?

          Wood->JPedro
          VVD->Chalobah
          Williams-Richards
          Anderson->Rice

Leaves me 1 transfer, 0m ITB to roll over for next week.
I can do 3-5-2, benching Konsa and Barry, and play Kelleher in goal.

They look good, you could use your other on Barry > Isidor and bench Baleba? playing 343 would that also give you enough for Senesi / Guéhi over Richards?

Really I think the big decision is Pedro or Woltemade, my team is on message 6 for reference.

Honestly your current team isn’t that bad, it is the Forest players and VVD that are doing the damage imo, don’t get me wrong, VVD is a solid player, but he’s over priced for the points he’s getting currently, GW12 Liverpool’s game change to easy ones but even-so his price could well be to high.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

Terminators, I haven’t done the transfers so I can still make the changes.

I could just ditch the Forest players and VVD

          VVD-Chalobah
          Williams -Guehi
          Anderson -Rice
          Wood-JPedro or Woltemorden

Both strikers have good fixtures but Pedro will give me Chelsea coverage

        • Terminators says:

When are you thinking about using your WC?

As Reg83 has made a good point about Semenyo, I agree but I cannot see how you can get him in unless you WC.

You’re going to have to make some changes and see what the best team you can make trying out different combinations, as I said, I think you need to drop the Forest players and VVD it taking up funds, but so is Salah who is difficult to sell, tbh I am going to keep him until he joins AFCON.

You need Arsenal and Chelsea cover, Woltemade and also Semenyo if possible.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

Not sure when to use my wildcard, but seems silly atm seeing as I have 5ft.

I just tried a few variations keeping Salah, and can’t get Semenyo in.

      Reg83 says:

Think semenyo is quite essential now. He is like half the price of Salah and has double the pts of Salah. Probably the player of season till now along with Haaland.

I’ve traded Evanilson to Bowen this week, thinking he has a nice 4 week stretch

I have a couple of benching issues. Should Tarkowski come in for Reijnders?

    Which keeper?

    Thanks fellas

1FT, and feel like I need to shake up midfield.
I intend to Free Hit on GW11, and WC on GW12, so my immediate need is only to get through GW8, 9, and 10.

Ndiaye has a poor fixture this week but I’ll be honest I’m not too concerned holding him for the period. The same with Kudus, and even Fernandes.

That leaves me at Reijnders, whereby I can switch for Enzo Fernandes given my lack of Chelsea attacking cover (Guiu doesn’t count…). I’m really not fancying any premium players here, and given my short period, I feel like Enzo/Reijnders are likely on-par (ish), so it’s solely to have Chelsea cover.

    What are your thoughts?!

Also – I’m back after a long stint, so wondering if there’s any familiar faces still around, say hi if so!

I feel the site team has played quite conservative so far this season. Think I did the opposite.

This.week I’m holding on to my transfers through. Only ones missing in my team are Sarr, CP defenders, Wolt and a Newcastle defender.

I can think about those in the upcoming weeks. Getting.rid of Salah is also.still an option.

I really don’t know how much longer I can hold onto Gyökeres and/or Pedro, I am really looking towards Woltemade and then a MID from Arsenal/Chelsea to replace which of Gyökeres or Pedro I drop from the same team.
