Envy is the thief of joy

Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW12

Like a kid with a shiny new toy, we strolled into GW11 with Gabriel finally in place. But, as the saying goes, “man plans, God laughs.” And the FPL gods? They are laughing. A majestic one-pointer and now he’s injured (probably). Our -4 is looking something of an error to say the least.

Aside from that small emotional trauma, it actually wasn’t a terrible week. For the brigade who tripled up on Arsenal’s defence, it was a gameweek to forget. For those of us who sensibly (accidentally) backed Saka instead, it was our one moment of triumph.

Saka’s 12-pointer generously papered over the cracks of what was otherwise a damp squib of a week. We scraped a pair of clean sheets at the back, captain Haaland decided to miss a penalty just for the drama but still found the net, and despite Newcastle’s latest away-day implosion, Woltemade kindly chipped in with 5 points.

A trio of 3-pointers across the midfield isn’t exactly headline-grabbing, but better than a slap in the face. Unfortunately, Anderson’s 9 points rotting on our bench was a reminder that FPL is 50% strategy, 50% pain. We did get a little excited when he scored—checked last week’s team in the article—only to discover Matt had a sudden change of heart and exiled him to the bench. Classic Matt.

Still, 51 points, 13 above the average, and enough for a green arrow from 5,571,344 to the dizzying, vertigo-inducing heights of 5,137,507. Glamour.

Our Gameweek 11 Result

We have £0.4m in the bank and 1 free transfer to use ahead of GW12. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW12 Transfer(s)

This week it’s all about the pressers. We’ll sit tight until we get clarity on Gabriel’s injury timeline. If he’s out for any real stretch, he’s gone. We were late to the party anyway, so we’ve got no value tied up in him. And with a wildcard plus every other chip still untouched, we can drag him back soon enough if needed.

Speaking of chips: we don’t intend to play one this week. In theory, a Free Hit could be justified, but the upside looks about as compelling as Burnley’s xG. However, we are painfully aware that by GW13 we’ll have seven gameweeks left to use four chips. What could possibly go wrong?

Update – Following the Friday press conferences and Arteta being as vague as usual, we decided to sell Gabriel for all the reasons mentioned above. We took a vote and in the ned we followed the herd. The man with slicker hair than a Soul Glow ad comes in following a vote. We’re not convinced on the Liverpool defence, but the fixtures are there and sometimes the obvious move is the best one to make. Let’s hope the sheep are right on this one. Baaaaaaaaa

To confirm then we have SOLD Gabriel and BOUGHT VVD

Captain – Haaland

PREDICTED LINE-UPS

Back by popular demand! Well, sort of… Drafthound have changed their line-up approach this season and what it means for us is that we are no longer able to display a live feed of it on here due to some technical difficulties. That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

  1. *** Site Team & Predicted Line Ups GW12***
Last game week’s transfer was a bust, we try again! Fingers crossed it works out this week!!

Do we think Konsa will play?
Do I ditch Reijnders and Kudus?
Thinking maybe Kudus->Gakpo which would potentially leave me 2.9m
Do I upgrade Reijnders. But who do I play/bench.
    Any advice.

    • Kudos > Sarr

Do you have the funds for Semenyo if you drop Reijnders and Baleba (with Kudus > Sarr)?

Are you going to Free Hit for Gw13?

      I don’t know about Gakpo’s minutes

      • Is Semenyo going to play?
Rather have someone who will definitely play.
Is replacing Kudus with Sarr a good choice though?

        • Nobody knows yet on Semenyo, we may get the team news before the deadline.

People have been piling in on Sarr, he will be going to AFCON though, if you do Sarr you will really need to FH for GW13.

You could do Baleba > Minteh as the former will be going to AFCON anyway.

        • Also, having just looked, it seems as though Kudus is back training and ready for the weekend.

May well FH gw13 if everyone else is. So suppose I need to use my transfers somehow

        • Reijnders will be dropping in price and Minteh will be rising by the looks of it https://www.livefpl.net/prices

          Semenyo possibly dropping as well.

        • Kudos will play Arsenal though, and looking at their fixtures, they seem tough.

Semenyo may well not play this GW and if he’s only out this GW and you will FH next week it doesn’t matter, it seems a very weird time in FPL many players are not performing at all and everyone is going to the template.

It is difficult to advise without knowing about Semenyo, I mean Baleba/Reijnders > Minteh and Kudos > Sarr could be the way to go and wait on Semenyo, but will you have the funds to bring him in dropping Baleba/Reijnders?

        • Is doing Baleba/Reijnders to Minteh/Foden a bad move?

Don’t know if Foden tends to start, or whether I should have Pool midfield cover as they have some good games coming up.

        • Baleba to Minteh is good imo,
Foden can and should get goals, but is expensive and you have Haaland.

The issue with Liverpool is which of the many players is going to get decent minutes and score goals, there is only Salah really, they do have good fixtures coming but I don’t know who to go for so I am staying away until one of them steps up, the only Liverpool player I have considered is Gakpo, his minutes are a concern and I am going to wait until Salah has gone to AFCON before I decide as I feel I can wait.

        • I went with Minteh and Szoboshlah, or however it’s spelled.
He tends to play most the 90 mins, has been getting points lately, and still have money in the bank.
I benched Rice, which was probably a bad idea.
But didn’t know who to do.
          Gotta take a risk sometimes.
Good luck terminators and thanks for your help mate

    • Good moves, benched Rice for who though?

  3. What do I do? 5.5 mil in the bank. Want to bring in Fernandes in and weirdly I think it’s time for Wirtz

    • Scrap that, seen Wirtz is injured. Still what do I do?

    • Sarr or wait on Semenyo news.

  4. I think I’ll let my bench work if Semenyo is out. Good to go?

    • Van der Ven versus Arsenal? search

      • Are you saying play him? I did not think the Spurs would do well away to Aresnal.

    • May be put Rodon 1st bench, Leeds are decent at home and Villa haven’t been free scoring.

  5. Bench boost or wait?

    • We need to use all chips before end of the season.

    • Maybe as your bench is all at home, what are your plans with the 5FT’s for AFCON what will your team be like then, maybe different bench players with better fixtures?

  6. What’s the view on Semenyo? Do I play him, bench and play Woltemade or sell for Mbuemo at a -4?

    • What is the rest of your team? I have Semenyo in my team and Woltemade first on my bench, my team is the next comment.

      • Nice team Terminators. This is me

        • We have the same bench smile

I still have Semenyo in my team and Waltemade first on the bench, I don’t think Waltemade will get anything more than one goal and if Semenyo does play I could only see him getting a run out (not 90mins) and maybe getting a goal, If Semenyo does get minutes I think his points will be the same as Waltemade.
