Captain Sensible?

Another decent week. We’ll take those where we can get them.

While our transfers were only half a success — budget new boy Hill delivered a clean sheet, but Bryan contributed a premium blank — it was the players we kept who did the real heavy lifting. None more so than Ekitike. Much to the annoyance of yours truly, the Frenchman gave Newcastle a painful reminder of what might have been. A brace and 13pts felt long overdue, and very gratefully received.

Fellow forwards Bowen (8pts) and captain Haaland (10pts) chipped in nicely. Our decision not to follow the herd onto Fernandes wasn’t exactly vindicated, but crucially, it didn’t sink us either. Elsewhere, a DEFCON contribution from Szoboszlai (5pts), a goal from Semenyo (7pts), and a clean sheet plus DEFCON from Gabriel combined to nudge us toward a green arrow.

66pts — 11 above the 55pt average — was enough to secure that upward movement. We climb from 2,290,007 to 2,034,272 Slow and steady, but at least it’s the right direction.

Our GW25 Transfer(s)

With the Arsenal double now confirmed, we’re acutely aware that we only own two Gunners. That said, the team doesn’t demand surgery this week, and after a quick internal poll (heated, brief, and deeply unserious), we’ve decided to roll the transfer decision into the midweek fixtures.

We have, however, opted to get a little adventurous with the armband. In what may be a dress rehearsal for that upcoming double, Gabriel gets the captaincy against a visiting Sunderland side firmly in our sights. Bowen takes vice-captain duties. James keeps his place in the XI despite lingering doubts, but the bench should — in theory — cover any unexpected absences.

Let’s absolutely do this.

    Perhaps we’re feeling giddy following our GW24 performance. We’ve gone rogue with these week’s armband, if nothing else, we can say we were here first come the midweek fixtures!

  4. Bruno is a must, site team. I know you got Mbeumo who I will also close eye. But Bruno has crazy numbers right now. Anyway, this is my team.

    • Pa. Wolves numbers have drastically improved last few games. They definitely are not playing like the last team in the Premier league.

    • Team looks okay, maybe Rogers to Enzo?

    • It’s key to have Gabriel. Also Bruno to be honest but with Arsenal dgw you need Gabriel.

  6. Would doing that give you enough to bring in Gabriel for one of your other defenders other than Timber?

    • Doing Rogers->Enzo gives me 0.7m to spend. Not enough to upgrade any defenders to Gabriel.
      Should I just leave it as it is and just do the Enzo move.

      • Gabriel and Bruno should have priority.

        • Honestly. You will have to take a hit before gw26 where Arsenal has a double. With Saka out everyone will cap Gabriel.

        • I’ve tried to hammer the site team week in week out to get Gabriel but they waited so long. Hoped you would have noticed. Hehe.

    • I can get Gabriel in if I do Nunes-Gabriel and say Rogers-Caicedo or anyone 5.8m below. Is it worth it

      • Hmm. Hard one. Let me check.

        • Hmm. Not the biggest fan of Caicedo. For 1m more you have the much more relevant Enzo. I always try to get the best a team has to offer, for Chelsea currently those are 1. Enzo, 2.Chalobah 3 %. Pedro. But they are all sort of short term since the fixtures of Chelsea take a swing the other way after the next 3 gameweeka. So you also already need to think of replacements.

        • I can’t decide for you mate. I just feel Gabriel is the most important asset in fpl right now. Bruno comes in close second.

        • I can get Enzo, but I cant get Gabriel.
          I would have to downgrade someone expensive, like Haaland or Ekitike.
          Unless I get him in next week

        • Elliot Anderson is a decent option and he will systematically give you 4 to 7 points every week.

          You could go Caicedo as well.

        • ok, Anderson is in, Gabriel is in, Nunes and Rogers are out

        • Anderson is defcon monster. Lol. Also get the odd assist and had 7bps this season. Maybe a boring choice.

          Caicedo has a higher ceiling I think. But won’t score well every week.

        • Hey mate. Just giving options. In the end you need to go with your gut. I’m just sharing who I think are important.
