“Boast like hell”

Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW3

They say that karma is a… well.. you know the rest, and after our barnstorming season that ended in the summer, it was a stuttered start with 48 points – nine below the average. Here we go, we all thought, this is what happens – something will find a way of bringing you back down to reality. Well, karma, you can stay away for longer because we were among those “jammy enough” (see the fallout on X, or Twitter, for further details) to triple captain Haaland and end up with a fantastic score of 103! Hello 100 Club! The Man City number 9 turned out to be an utter HaaLAD, as we believe the youth would say, scoring 17 which automatically turned to a fantastic 51. Sure, that means that chip is gone for another year, but sometimes it’s possible to overthink these things and at least we know that we’ve maximised its value rather than seeing a player get one point out of a double gameweek because they got injured in the first game, meaning that long-awaited chip got you just three points. I’m sure you can think of a couple of players who are guilty of that. So, yes, we are feeling rather boastful!

It wasn’t all about Haaland, though. We were one of the few teams to call upon the services of Cole Palmer and, cool as you like, he also well and truly delivered the goods for us with a 17-point haul all of his own. As so many teams have the Norwegian robot, calling on the relative differential in the Chelsea player was what really helped with our overall rank from the depths of 6,519,651 at the end of the first Gameweek.

Elsewhere, Anthony Gordon bucked the trend by scoring away from home to bring in a nice double-digit score, while assists from Antonee Robinson and Diogo Jota contributed to seven and six points respectively. Sadly, it was blanks for Gvardiol, Konsa, Eze, Isak and Muniz, though a special mention does go to Mark Flekken’s save tally which earned him a respectable three FPL points away at Liverpool.

So, it’s a nice big green arrow from the despairing overall rank depths of 6,519,651 to the much more respectable high – for this early on – of 965,669. Onwards and upwards – hopefully!

Our Gameweek 2 Result

We have £1.5m in the bank and 1 free transfer to use ahead of GW3. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW3 Transfer(s)

Just like the team picked itself last week, the same applied to the side for Gameweek 3 as well. There was a question of Robinson v Mykolenko, however the former proved to be sufficient, especially on the back of his seven-point collection the weekend before, as the four goals conceded for our benched Ukrainian meant he collected zilch. Barco sits third on the bench, thankfully not losing any value, and an issue that can be addressed at a later date.

Captaincy was almost as one-sided, as a vote found Cole Palmer the 5-1 favourite over the shout for Haaland to once again take captaincy. Fingers crossed for another haul! After initial mention of rolling the transfer, the notion of bringing in a certain Ollie Watkins was raised – partly on the back of how he should have definitely found the back of the net against Arsenal, and what Villa’s fixtures now look like. Getting in ahead of the curve? “Oh, go on then”, everyone agreed. But who goes in his place? Well, that was slightly easier in that the money available in the bank dictated it was Isak or Haaland. So Isak. He may have Spurs at home and those on Twitter suggest he’s worth keeping but FPL is a fickle old game and we’re excited by the prospect of what Watkins can produce. That move has now left us £1m in the bank to use another time.

To confirm then we have SOLD Isak and BOUGHT Watkins

Captain – Palmer

PREDICTED LINE-UPS

Back by popular demand! Well, sort of… Drafthound have changed their line-up approach this season and what it means for us is that we are no longer able to display a live feed of it on here due to some technical difficulties. That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

Eddie Nketiah to CP is very interesting.

He’s 5.9m now, when he starts playing he’ll definitely rise. I know he can’t play in gw3.

Do we think he starts after the IB?

Enjoying the quadmium. Finding the right 4.5m defenders at the right time will be key if going this way. Doubt Lankshear plays any minutes in the league but as good as any 4.5m fwd
