Burn them all!

Welcome to FF247 Site Team News GW30

While Dan Burn may have been in one particular site team member’s good books, it was his namesake as a verb that we wanted to do with our squad after a very disappointing 48 points on the back of five transfers and a -4 that actually made it 44. Haaland returned, at least, however Robinson, Raya and Georginio were the only other highlights in what was a mix of one and two-point uselessness. Oh, we can’t miss the three points from Hudson-Odoi as well, of course.

So yes, the least said about that week, the better. Especially with a rank of 2,426,893 now.

Our Gameweek 29 Result

We have £0.1m in the bank and 1 free transfer to use ahead of GW30. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW30 Transfer(s)

Breaking news: Wildcard activated!

With the season entering a crucial phase, the FF247 site team has pulled the trigger on their wildcard, making some bold and strategic changes with the blanks and doubles upcoming. A mix of form, fixtures and potential upside through return from injury dictated these moves as we aimed to maximise our squad’s output for the coming weeks. Let’s break down the ins and outs of this revamped team, in what would have been a -28.

Goalkeeper swap: Valdimarsson → Areola

While Valdimarsson has been a reliable shot-stopper, there’s one key problem – he doesn’t play. Not ideal when it comes to FPL. West Ham’s Alphonse Areola offers a strong upgrade for just £0.3m, due to his recent performances and a favorable fixture list. The Hammers have a good run of games coming up, and Areola has been making crucial saves and collecting bonus points. His combination of clean sheet potential and save points makes him a more enticing long-term option – especially for the bench boost. Raya will no doubt stay our number one.

Defensive reinforcements: Tosin → Gvardiol, Robinson → Trippier

We’ve strengthened our defence by bringing in two premium assets.

The inconsistency of Chelsea’s defence, coupled with their dodgy fixtures coming up, Tosin expendable. In his place comes Josko Gvardiol, who has been thriving in Manchester City’s backline in what has otherwise been a disappointing season for Pep’s men. With City’s tendency to control possession and keep clean sheets, Gvardiol offers strong potential for defensive points and even attacking returns.

Antonee Robinson has had a decent season with attacking returns aplenty, however Fulham now have tough fixtures coming up and so it made sense to bid him farewell. We’ve invested in Kieran Trippier, Newcastle’s creative full-back. He remains a set-piece specialist and an assist machine, making him a premium choice despite Newcastle’s injury issues.

Midfield revamp: Hudson-Odoi → Sarr, Kudus → Saka, Georginio → Murphy

Callum Hudson-Odoi has shown glimpses of promise but hasn’t delivered consistently – certainly not compared to his colleagues like Elanga and, of course, Wood. We’ve upgraded to Ismaila Sarr, who has been an integral part of Palace’s midfield, contributing with goals and assists while playing in an advanced role. His FA Cup performance underlined how much he’s in form and the Eagles’ upcoming double made him a no brainer.

Mohammed Kudus has, meanwhile, been upgraded to the ever-reliable (well, when he’s not injured) Bukayo Saka. Arteta’s press conference sounded favourable on Arsenal’s star winger making a return against Fulham, so hopefully the site team can be ahead of the curve. Regardless od injury, he remains a top FPL asset with his combination of penalties, creativity and attacking threat.

Elsewhere, Georginio Rutter’s role at Brighton has been promising, but we’ve decided to bolster our midfield depth with Jacob Murphy, who has been thriving in Newcastle’s attacking setup and has the mouthwatering double coming up.

Striker shake-up: Haaland → Marmoush, Wood → Mateta

It may seem controversial to have removed Erling Haaland before yesterday’s injury (especially with a Leicester visit coming up), but the prognosis isn’t good for the Norwegian. On the plus side, his price tag meant we could redistribute funds elsewhere, bringing in the likes of Saka for example. In his place, we’ve opted for Omar Marmoush, who has been in sensational form, providing a budget-friendly way to keep scoring points.

Chris Wood has had a fantastic season, but that injury within international duty doesn’t look good. Instead, we’ve brought in Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been leading the line for Crystal Palace and delivering goals at a strong rate. Plus Matt, our Differential King, loves him.

After all the excitement of the wildcard, it was down to a vote for the captain. Salah came out as the most popular option and so he gets the armband ahead of the Merseyside Derby.

To confirm then we have SOLD Valdimarsson, Tosin, Robinson, Hudson-Odoi, Kudus, Georginio, Haaland and Wood, and BOUGHT Areola, Gvardiol, Trippier, Sarr, Saka, Murphy, Marmoush and Mateta

Captain – Salah

And is it worth using AM chip this week on Glasner – reason being they have some half decent fixtures, and dgw32.
My other chips.. WC before the dgw, and BB on the dgw.
      I will FH gw34

      • ohyesali says:

I think with your chips you should follow the trend. WC this / next week, BB33, FH34 … and then its just about when to use the AM. There’s a reason so many are going with this format. AM on Glasner 32+33 is pretty darn tempting though. GL ahead

You do not lose them transfers Hammer, they carry over now

From the rules..Please note that when playing either a Wildcard or your Free Hit chip, any saved free transfers are maintained for the following Gameweek. If you had 2 saved free transfers, you will still have 2 saved free transfers the Gameweek after playing the chip.

          now that i didnt know.

Might just use my 2FT though and stick with using the WC when we know about the dgw. That way I can build the team for that and the BB.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I’ve actually played my WC because of this.

I was going to make 2 transfers and WC next week. I’ve essentially banked the transfers.

Will have 3FTs in 33 in rol until then, with plan to move Palmer to Saka and Saliba -> DGW player, as well as having option to bring in Haaland with a hit.

If on a WC you might think about replacing Wood and/or Kluivert as both seem like they won’t play this week. It sounds like Wood for sure isn’t playing this week but who really knows. Just throwing it out there.
