Our GW1 Result…
Isn’t it great after weeks of painstakingly creating the perfect squad for the new season, your efforts are rewarded, and you get the season off to a flyer from the get-go? Who knows, not us! The best way to describe our GW1 was average, that is, we ended up on 57pts and you guessed it, the gameweek average was 57pts. Shocking stuff. Our pitiful GW1 efforts see us kick off the season with a rank of 4,137,263. Ouch.
So, how did we get here? Well, when you only have 4/11 players return you can usually guarantee it’s not going to be a good week. Thankfully Captain Salah did the business grabbing us 24pts, James, Cancelo and Ederson chipped in 7pts a-piece and that was it. Everyone else came up with a 1 or 2, our bench fared the same so at least we got our line-up right. Every cloud, right?
We have £0.5 in the bank and one free transfer to use ahead of GW2. Let’s go see what was decided….
Our GW2 Transfer(s)
Sometimes in FPL, you must admit you made a mistake and rectify it without too much fuss. We rolled the dice with Harry Kane and had we known the final scores of both the City and Spurs games we would probably have done it again. No involvement for Harry in a 4-1 win is not the norm, that Haaland (who everyone and their granny seemingly went with) turned out to be a bit of a beast (who knew!?) and scored both goals in City’s 2-0 win, finishing on 13pts only served to add salt to our wounds (I may be being a little dramatic here).
Haaland ended GW1 top amongst all players in the league for shots in the box, big chances, xG (expected goals), xGi (Expected goal involvement) and non-penalty xGi. So pretty conclusive. Given how City play, I expect these are the kind of stats we’ll see many times over the season. Throw in the fact that he looks to be on penalties and you’ve got a player who may not be ‘essential’, but watching Man City games week in, week out will be a miserable experience without him. We don’t like being miserable, so we’ve decided to buy him.
The prospect of Bournemouth (H) was just too tempting, clearly, even more, tempting to all the silly sausages who started to buy him before GW1 had even ended. We woke on Monday to find Kane had dropped in price and Haaland had risen. For anyone who hoped to make the move but found themselves with empty coffers, it was a sad moment indeed. Expect hits galore. Luckily, we kept that £0.5m in our back pocket for such eventualities, and whilst it’s frustrating that making the move now comes with a £0.2 swing in price, it’s not the end of the world.
To confirm then, we have SOLD Harry Kane and BOUGHT Erling Haaland
Captain – Haaland
I don’t think we need to explain this one!

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News
Rather than clutter the site up on deadline eve with too many articles we have tagged our predicted line-ups on here.
As a quick reminder –
There are two versions of this article.
The one below has a drop-down version. It’s fairly idiot proof – you simply click on the small arrow to the right of the team name and you get a drop-down list of all the teams. Simply click on the one you want to see and hey presto, etc. This is the published article with the comments section to crack on with.
The other one is permanently live and has the ‘nicer’ grid layout. If you want to see that version you can click here. This can also be easily accessed at any time via a myriad of links on our homepage – Header link, Hot Topics link, Quick Access link on mobile and it is also linked towards the end of all of our regular articles.
What you see below is a live link to what Drafthound have on their website. Why is that significant? Well, firstly, it now means that the second they make any updates in reaction to live team news then they will also appear on here. Being uber helpful in that respect they also time-stamp all of their line-ups so you can tell to the minute when it was last updated.
As an additional extra if you click on any player icon on the team line-up that will take you to their own page on Drafthound, from where you can see up to date season stats, their upcoming fixture schedule and use a comparison tool to view similar players.
Given their time and effort in providing this content for us it would be rude not to occasionally click on the Drafthound link and check out their own fabulous content as there are FPL articles aplenty on there too.
You can access our live feed to these here.

Anyone NOT captaining Haaland this week?
I know a few going with Mo.
I rate Palace as a pretty tough team to go up against at times. They have often had City’s measure. Reckon Bourne mouth are an easier target despite the big effort last week. But that’s just my grain of salt!
Which is not really a revolutionary opinion, I’m afraid!
Probably will stick with Salah. Think he has a good record vs palace.
My captain is locked in
You should use TC!
I’m thinking about captain Darwin. He looked really good and only played 39 mins last game. But it’ll be last minute descision…
Not really
I have gone for Haaland, but just watch him blank and Kane get three.
Afternoon folks. Please pick 2 of these to start.
James, Pereira, Aaronson and Bailey.
Struggling myself with almost same question! Right now I’m on Aaronson and Bailey. But who knows.
Cheers Colriles. I’m actually leaning that way too. Aaronson and James is kind of 2nd place though.
Pereira and Aronson
Aaronson and James for me
+1
Aaronson and Bailey.
Start White or Andreas?
White i think
Ben
White
White
I am going to say White, but only just ahead of Andreas, Wolves were not great last week and Fulham are on the front foot after last week.
Thanks all!
Good to go?
Yep…could see some good points coming.
I hope so.
looks set i’d probably have neto as 1st sub
I cannot decide between Trip or Neto, I don’t think I will need a sub but I feel Trip is more likely to keep a clean sheet than Neto scoring or assisting against Fulham, he nor Wolves were that good last week
Good to go mate. However, I would play Trippier over Bailey, but go with your gut.
I know Sessegnon is projected to start for Spurs at left (wing)back. But Conte has special reasons to want to beat Chelsea. Is it possible he will start Perisic, the old pro, to give the right side of the Chelsea defence, a bit more to worry about?
I don’t think anyone knows for sure, it depends if Perisic is 100% fit, need to hear from Conte really, if you have him put in your XI and have a good first bench player.
I always put my strongest XI, even if a player is on a yellow, if you bench Perisic he will start and do well, you cannot win either way.
Conte will rotate is wingbacks a lot. For that reason I’m staying away. Can’t be bothered with defenders getting subbed off on the 59th minute.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I basically agree with you both. I’ll start him, but I’ll probably move him on for more dependable minutes.
Start Bailey or Neto?
I have gone with Bailey over Neto.
Gerrard has said something about Bailey being in a better place than last season, Neto and Wolves were poor in their first game, could be a close game against Fulham but after last week Fulham are on the front foot.
Coin landed on tails. So Neto.
