The letter… ß
The midweek fixtures saw us finish with 86 points – a very respectable result that earned a nice green arrow of about 470k places up to 415,637th. Basically we’ve now knocked a zero off that rank since GW2. Erling Braut Haaland was, of course, the star of the show as he casually scored another hat-9trick and gained 17 points, doubled to make a lovely 34. “I love it when an FPL captain plan comes together”, as it may have been said on the A-Team if that was based around fantasy football. “I ain’t getting no Kane!”, etc. Other worthy mentions are Salah’s shoulder, which helped to earn the Egyptian a total of 10 points in Liverpool’s last-minute victory over Newcastle, along with Joao Cancelo who joined his Norwegian colleague in finding the back of the net and also kept a clean sheet to amass 12 points. Martinelli’s 10 points were also very welcome, as the number 11 continues to be a worthy – albeit late in our case – investment.
The hall of shame can be adorned with pictures of Robert Sanchez and Ivan Perisic, however their single-point scores in this gameweek can be quickly forgiven and forgotten when you see the number of points they had amassed prior to Gameweek 5. Whilst Reece James didn’t start or play a single minute in the match against Southampton, we were glad that we had got the subs bench in the right order, as Villa’s Leon Bailey and his two points were able to come in – and not Neco Williams’ -1.
Our GW5 Result…
We have £0.2m in the bank and two free transfers to use ahead of GW6. Let’s go see what was decided…
Our GW6 Transfer(s)
Through much debate, that somewhat deviated in how to how to write the ß character on your phone – press and hold on the letter ‘s’, FYI – we finally got there. There were two free transfers that could be utilised, however one member mooted the idea of just taking it easy and downgrading Villa’s Leon Bailey to the £4.4m Sean Longstaff and pocket the difference for future gameweeks. Then, when we weren’t distracted by special characters, the conversation moved to getting rid of Perisic – at a time when he’s the fourth most transferred-in defender, attracting 272,000 new owners. There are, however, fears over the game time that the £5.6m player will have against Fulham, as Spurs welcome Marseille on Wednesday and then travel to Man City on 10th September.
But who do we bring in and what does that mean elsewhere in the squad? Leon Bailey definitely stood out like a sore thumb and so he had to make way. So, do we downgrade him and, with the extra money, then look to upgrade Perisic? Or do we bring in a cheaper defender who will still start games and then upgrade the midfielder position? The latter proved to be popular and a £4.4m Man United player turned out to be the selection. So, we welcome Diogo Dalot, who has Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Leeds as his next three games. That left £6.0m for the Bailey replacement. Who to get, though? Unfortunately the first choice of Leeds’ Harrison was unachievable thanks to those pesky price rises that have been rife over the last five weeks. Looking at form, that left Groß, his teammate Mac Allister (£5.5m), Xhaka at £5.0m, Jensen and his £5.1m pricetag, the £5.5m Neves, Jorginho who costs £6.0m. Not exactly rich pickings when it comes to FPL. After a quick show of hands, we joined the 670,000 other FPL managers in bringing in Pascal Groß ahead of Brighton’s home game against a leaky Leicester defence. That spending spree leaves us with £0.1m in the bank.
From the few words Pep has said, it looks like Haaland will be starting against Villa.
By the way, the ß character is called eszett.
To confirm then we have SOLD Ivan Perisic and Leon Bailey and BOUGHT Diogo Dalot and Pascal Groß.
Captain – Haaland

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News
Rather than clutter the site up on deadline eve with too many articles we have tagged our predicted line-ups on here.
As a quick reminder –
There are two versions of this article.
The one below has a drop-down version. It’s fairly idiot proof – you simply click on the small arrow to the right of the team name and you get a drop-down list of all the teams. Simply click on the one you want to see and hey presto, etc. This is the published article with the comments section to crack on with.
The other one is permanently live and has the ‘nicer’ grid layout. If you want to see that version you can click here. This can also be easily accessed at any time via a myriad of links on our homepage – Header link, Hot Topics link, Quick Access link on mobile and it is also linked towards the end of all of our regular articles.
What you see below is a live link to what Drafthound have on their website. Why is that significant? Well, firstly, it now means that the second they make any updates in reaction to live team news then they will also appear on here. Being uber helpful in that respect they also time-stamp all of their line-ups so you can tell to the minute when it was last updated.
As an additional extra if you click on any player icon on the team line-up that will take you to their own page on Drafthound, from where you can see up to date season stats, their upcoming fixture schedule and use a comparison tool to view similar players.
Given their time and effort in providing this content for us it would be rude not to occasionally click on the Drafthound link and check out their own fabulous content as there are FPL articles aplenty on there too.
You can access our live feed to these here.

This just motivated me to sell Perisic. LOL.
Why he’s been great silly move .
He’s a lot of money for a rotation risk, and his funds can be better spent elsewhere. I quite like him too, but with Sessegnon lurking over his shoulder – and the CL starting soon – it’s a tricky one to call.
Yeah he may get dropped this game against Fulham but will be back and will get assists and clean sheets now Romero back
Please advise
I have 2 FT and 0.2 in bank
I don’t know where you could use your free transfer there. Good squad.
Captain Haaland (or Salah) though.
I’d probably lose Mendy – he’s very error-prone this season and there are probably better options in Sanchez or Pope whilst Chelsea work on their defence. When Fofana is in hopefully that’ll help firm them up.
Yep, but the FPLer’s mind is always aflutter with the idea that a player may never play again merely because of a one week absence! 😉
Merde, this is a reply to Special K in post 6!
Is my team good to go. Shall I play Nico or Perisic?
Would you change benching order!
As a spursfan i would be surprised if not Sessengon start over Peri today. Peri played full 90′ 3 days ago. And CL game vs Marseille on next wednesday aswell..
Andreas ahead of Longstaff.
As you have it .
What you think guys?
Williams first sub at very least.
Morning all, Am I GTG?
Had little choice and used my FTs on Rodrigo and Zinchenco to Groß and Trippier. But have a nice 0.9 its as a result.
Is my bench in the right order?
Toss up between Andreas and Williams for first.
As you have it should be fine.
Thanks GP
