We pre-released our team on Wednesday evening, suggesting that we were just going to make one change. However, as you know, rumours of a hamstring injury to Chelsea striker Diego Costa were beginning to surface, hence we needed to wait for today’s press conferences to clarify the situation with him and indeed everyone in our squad after a busy week of Champions League, Capital One Cup and Europa League action. Jose Mourinho confirmed that Costa is “a big doubt” for the game vs Everton and hence we have decided to sell him, despite the injury not believed to be as serious as first thought. We could have benched him, but we have decided instead to buy Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge. This is a move not just for GW3 but for the medium term as Liverpool have a great run of fixtures coming up and we had no cover from them. For a team that has become free scoring, we felt cover in this area would be essential sooner rather than later and Costa’s injury presented us with the excuse to invest in Liverpool.
To supplement Sturridge we needed to raise 1mln and so we had to use our 2nd free transfer and we have sold Joel Ward and bought Newcastle’s Paul Dummett. We explained our preference for the Newcastle defence on Wednesday and although we would have preferred Daryl Janmaat, price dictated that Dummett was our only option.
Stevan Jovetic remains our captain for this week, with Gylfi Sigurdsson the vice captain.

Have Rooney Costa Jovetic as my front line – considering Rooney -> aguero and Costa -> Ade for -4 – thoughts/alternatives?

Swapping out giroud but who should I get jovetic? Also have two transfers so any suggestions on who else I should bring in. I’m thinking taking out a defender probably ward as crystal palace realy struggled last week defensively

Jovetic sounds good to me, also looks the best captaincy option if you take him in. The rest of the team looks fine, I’d keep the free transfer for after the international break.

Morning Kop, yep all done I think, Costa out for Fletcher and Silva in for Barton. The Fletcher bit is a huge punt but it’s a one-off as he’s got QPR and looked pretty sharp last week despite not scoring. You all done?

Thanks gp. I swapped out debuchy with my wc, I am not too sure on arsenal’s defence would prefer Chelsea / man city but obviously they come at a premium

He’s actually first on my bench incase chambers doesn’t play. On that note I’ve taken out Luis, the main positive is when he does start playing, he will be about .5 mil cheaper than any other Chelsea defender. You made your transfers, Pelle captain? 😉
For some reason I’d be delighted with a 0-0 draw between City and Stoke.
Naaaah, Rooney is captain. Him wearing the armband makes him even less selfish though, which sucks.
