FPL is live 2020
Welcome to FPL is live 2020/21
It’s time to set your team up, re-join leagues and get tinkering! Although it’s worth noting that the actual Premier League fixtures are still to be released and likely won’t be until after the Champions League and Europa League have completed.
For FPL the biggest change appears to be the deadline changing to 90mins before kick-off – seemingly in an attempt to combat those annoying and often false team leaks.
The Chips have remained the same as has the budget of 100mln.
The biggest changes seem to have come in player prices and in some cases, classification. Some of the more obvious changes at first glance are:
Players now classed as midfielders:
Aubameyang (Arsenal) – price 12.0mln
Greenwood (Man Utd) – price 7.5mln
Rashford (Man Utd) – price 9.5mln
Lundstram (Sheff Utd) – price 5.5mln
Players now classed as forwards:
Richarlison (Everton) – price 8.0mln
Martial (Man Utd) – price 9.0mln
Antonio (West Ham) – price 6.5mln
New players:
Midfielders:
Ziyech (Chelsea) – price 8.0mln
Forwards:
Werner (Chelsea) – price 9.5mln
Good luck with the tinkering and please post your thoughts, comments and plans on the chat below.
Thanks for reading FPL is live 2020/21
Fantasy Football 247 League Codes:
All prizes must be claimed within 30 days of the final GW.
For those who play Fantasy MLS, the deadline is this Thursday.
Eak! That’s not long
Haven’t played this for a couple of seasons now, so very out of the loop. Anybody got any tips? Ivan?
Just signed up with an auto-fill team for now. Not liking the sound of these two rule changes though:
Team Value: Your team value is set at $125M and will not change throughout the season. Player prices will still fluctuate so make sure to keep the total value of team at $125 or less each week to receive points.
Double Game Weeks: Both scores from double game weeks will no longer count. Instead, the best score will count.
@Chipster, Throw up a team and I can help a bit.
Hey Mito (and any other FMLSers on site). How are these little chipsters looking?
@chipster, hard to fault you for any of your midfield, that four could be a consensus among many fantasy players. I see that you are using San Jose as the option for switches, which makes perfect sense, I will use them also.
Think the interesting decision is to use two one game strikers, I can see your angle in picking on Vancouver, but it is a bit dangerous in the sense that you will probably be on an island with them two, if you hit cool, if you miss you will be probably alone in that..
Urriti did not come on in the mls tournament when they were down 1-0 in a knockout game which I thought was a weird decision from Henry since he had started him in all the rest of the games, maybe he had a knock we don’t know about. Jozy is still working his way back to some degree. He could be ready to go longer but he only played 57 minutes yesterday in their game. I mention both of their previous minutes because none will show up in the fantasy game as their last outings were outside the fantasy game in games that counted.
Hey Chips. No mate, I am totally disconnected since we stopped writing the MLS articles. Simply, too busy at work to find spare time in the small hours of the morning to follow it.
* By the way, could you dig out the old logging for the FPL-H2H Doubles. I don’t think we took part last season but we should gear up for the new one
Just emailed you mate 😀
Got it and replied :good:
This can help:

Thanks so much Mito. I wasn’t aware of the gametime issues with my bench strikers, so will rethink those two.
I started FMLS two weeks ago! Scored 90 & 68 for GW 1/2 😎
Utterly confused by MLS this year, but the team is set
Oh, I didn’t realise it had already started. Is there any point me doing a team now if I’ve missed the first 2 weeks?
Enter your team, mate :good:
FMLS is divided in several qualifying parts. The first part (GWs 1-2) is already over and top 50 managers after the first two GWs qualified for something they call Fantasy Champions League. The second part, GWs 3-6, starts from scratch tomorrow and the goal is to make it to top 100 managers in order to qualify. The third and the last qualifying part takes place in GWs 7-10. GWs 10-14 will thus have 250 managers in cup competition.
Ah, I see. Cheers Wanton. I will try and put a team together tonight then
Already in the Champions League. The change in GWs really worked in my favour as I didn’t have enough time to drop out of the top 50. 😎
Well done, Mitro :good:
I meant Mito, sorry. Contemplating Mitrovic for my FPL team, hence the confusion
I’d recommend having a look at the “Value (Season)” option in the “Sorted by” drop down box on the FPL Player List. It gives the number of points scored last season divided by their cost this season, giving a “points scored per £1m” value, so it gives you a good indication of who is good Value for Money (VfM) when deciding how to spend your £100m.
E.g. Pope is £5.5m this season, scored 170 points last season, so that’s 30.9 points per million which is the highest value of any player. Trent is best VfM defender (28.0), but I was surprised to see KDB second best VfM midfielder (21.8) as normally the high priced attackers aren’t good VfM (and they don’t need to be, as explained below). Compare that to Salah (19.4), Son (18.8) or Sterling (17.7). Ings and Jiminez top the forwards at 23.3 and 22.8 respectively.
You can’t have a team full of only the top VfM players, because your squad would be worth about £80m, you wouldn’t score many points (a team of 11 Popes would only get you 1,870 points last season) and you would waste £20m ITB. That’s where the big guns come in – spending the extra £20m gives you players who are going to score more, and who are going to give you captain choices.
This VfM perspective has its flaws, which is why you need to use this tool intelligently. E.g. Fernandes has a terrible VfM of only 11.1 points per million. But he only had half a season, so you can double his VfM to 22 points per million, so he is one of the best VfM midfielders. Also, it doesn’t take into account any promoted teams, or positional changes like Aubameyang that well known midfielder.
It’s biggest flaw is assuming the players will score as well as they did last season, which certainly won’t be the case for many. But again this is where intelligence is needed. When looking at the VfM you must consider whether the player will do better, same, or worse than last year. E.g. I’m going for Ryan in goal because I personally believe that he is going to perform slightly better than last season, which will mean he will get about 31 or 32 points per million, and I expect Pope not to outperform last season, so I think Ryan will be better VfM than Pope.
Ok this comment has become longer than I had planned, so I’m going to stop. Sorry. You get the idea!
Thanks for this, Ben :good: I found it really interesting as I’ve never heard about (or dabbled with) that option before.
We all use different combinations of information (price, past performance) and feelings (gut, eye-test) to pick our teams, so it’s always helpful to have new methods to consider and add into the mix.
Informative comment, Ben. Cheers :good:
Great stuff
Thanks, very interesting.
Many thanks BenAKA, your comment has been highlighted and put in the hot topics for anyone who wants to refer back to it or didn’t get a chance to read it and comes by the site in the following days.
Thanks Mito, I’m honoured.
interesting read, i agree with Pope, I think burnleys defence as a whole probably outperformed last year and I don’t see that happening again this season. So I expect Pope’s points to be a lot lower this year
Thanks for this.
Cheers for posting this – all food for thought.
VfM is one of the metrics I’ve never really got my head around – should pay more attention. Like you I have Ryan. Unlike you I have no real justification (until now).
Cheers everyone you’re welcome
Looks like the Vinagre dream is over! https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wolves-in-negotiations-aston-villa-18791749
Not surprised in the slightest. If it’s not him there will be cover brought in.
Cheers Kop.
It’s all turned to vinegar!
Agreed GP. They need to build on last season and they have the funds to do so.
Hard to tell if he is bought just as back up for Vinagre though as he is the only LB available now. So either way, would expect competition in that spot, just see who takes it
That’s true. But it does mean that I’d be extremely reluctant to include Vinagre in a GW1 squad.
I’ll believe it when it happens
I’m trying to be brave but my bottom lip has just started wobbling.
How does this 3-5-2 look? Man, can’t wait for those fixtures…
Looks good.
Now to wait…
looks good, but just depends on fixtures! not long to wait now
I feel that I will be bucking the trend of 3-5-2 by playing a 4-3-3 formation at the start of the season.
Trying to get that third big hitter in midfield I feel is to the detriment of the rest of my squad.
I will be either a genius or wildcarding by game week 4.
What does Rosco, Carolyn, Horse, Smash to name a few squads look like?
Jamie
At the moment I’m only going with 2 big hitters. It depends on the fixtures a bit, who are the best captain options for the first few weeks.
I don’t have one yet Jamie, I hit auto fill and I’m waiting with baited breath for the fixtures!
Prob a 3-5-2 for me with Salah, Bruno and KDB being my big hitters. Will have to reassess it when fixtures are out
I know this is the wrong thread but seeing as peeps are about. Grab another site member and start a doubles team. It would be good to get at least 20 teams to make a good H2H league.
I am open for a doubles partner.
