FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 1
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 1
And we go again…
Saturday afternoons will never be the same without Jeff, but we shall plough on regardless. The selfish b@stard will no doubt be sunning himself in some far flung destination with a cocktail in his hand. If this was North Korea he’d have died in that chair. Maybe they do get some things right, after all..
And so, with potential death threat no.1 of the season out of the way, down to the action…
We begin on Friday with Man City going to Burnley at 8pm. Get used to Friday’s as it looks like it is a thing again, at least for the opening month.
Saturday begins with Arsenal already chasing, most likely, as they host Forest in the early game.
Simon (Thomas) is our new Jeff at 3pm, he’s a nice bloke, and he gets under way with 4 games – Bournemouth v West Ham, Luton at Brighton, Everton welcoming Fulham and Palace going to The Blades. Clearly they don’t want him to get too overexcited on day 1… The late one should be a good game though as Newcastle host Villa.
That leaves us with 2 on Sunday – Brentford v Spurs at 2pm and Chelsea v Liverpool at 4.30pm. And then the final one is on Monday as Man United welcome Wolves at 8pm.
The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 1 from all at FF247!

Do we now think that Gabriel will be back since Timber is down?
Gavy
He came on as a sub, so he must be somewhat fit. I think they / he’ll want to be in the starting 11
coys9
hope he doesnt start from the bench again
Loud Atlas
Possibly – I hope so! White could also come in.
coys9
fingers & toes crossed!
chins
Not sure the two are related as they play in different positions. I hope Arteta gets back to a regular back 4 with White – Gabriel – Saliba – Tommy / Zinchenko
If Partey starts at right back again, then I think we have to assume he values a midfield of Rice – Odegaard- Havertz, over one including Partey, but doesn’t want to leave Partey out. If that’s the case, it doesn’t look good for Gabriel.
coys9
I just hope he doesnt drop in value at this point. Will probably swap him out gw3 if he´s still a rotation risk
Gavy
Started the season with a 78, so happy with that for a start
Here the team looking at gw2. Have done timber to Saliba. Should I be looking to move stones for a -4, or just suck up a 0.1 drop in price and hope he played? City’s next 5 of 6 are all OK par Newcastle. If stones is fit again he going to get points!
banjomaker
Nice start Gavy. If you don’t have any immediate plans for the 0.1 then I don’t think it’s worth hitting. Especially as, like you say, there’s a good chance he plays the upcoming nice fixtures.

Gavy, no hits needed. We are all in the same boat this week. It’s far too early to judge about the state of players and teams after just one GW. I am saving the FT and as for Stones, we’ll find out what is the situation tomorrow.
Loud Atlas
Nice, Gavy! 87 here. I’d keep Stones – wait and see what happens. No rush to move him and plenty of others options if you need to post the Newcastle game.
Terminators
I’m pretty disappointed with this, I know it’s only GW1 but unhappy
banjomaker
Huh?! In my drunken state last night I was considering WCing and your team was pretty much identical to my WC team. I’d be happy if I were you!
constantine
Terminators. There’s nothing to be unhappy about. The team is set.
Loud Atlas
Nothing wrong with that at all! You should feel lucky to have Salah for the match against Bournemouth in GW2. Plenty of great fixtures coming up for all of your players, no injuries etc.
Have faith, man
chins
Nothing wrong with that team.
Salah would’ve had a cery nice goal if it wasn’t for a very close offside.
My only worry on him is how Klopp reacts to Salahs agent coming out and saying “let’s talk” to the Saudi league
Rashford / Man United didn’t do much, but lots of us have that issue.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton assets will be fine.
ODT
Would you play Johnstone against Arsenal or Turner against SH this coming GW?
ODT
I mean Turner against Sheffield.
Loud Atlas
Both are local derbies, so expect goals in both. Probably Turner against Sheffield.
ODT
Cheers. That’s the way I was leaning, just thought I would ask.
chins
Turner. Fo sho.
Super Reds
Pretty happy with my GW1 of 82. Got an issue with Timber now though. Should I do a simple replace with Saliba, Gabriel (risk of price drop) or go for a spurs asset like Royal or Udogie as after United their fixtures look decent.
Terminators
I would replace with Saliba or Gabriel, the latter tbh, I don’t want his price to go down.
Gavy
Henry at Brentford has a nice run coming up too. They had a poor opening game, don’t expect manu to be that poor going forward. Emerson from gw 3 looks better
Saliba is the safest pick.
chins
Royal looked decent going forward, but it still means relying on Spuds for clean sheets, which is risky.
I’d probably go Saliba, but he doesn’t offer much in attacking points.
bundeena bunnies
Happy with my 83pt start, dispite having Kane.
Thinking I want to get Salah in team to replace Kane, but that would mean 2 trades and a -4 hit.
Any suggestions?
Initial thoughts were Kane to Watkins and Martinelli to Salah?
banjomaker
Does Kane to Alvarez and Mitoma to Salah work?

Reg83
Well u need to get kane out for sure. A -4 worth here to get Salah.
bundeena bunnies
took the -4 hit
will be worth having Salah
