Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 18

There may be some games to chat about…

We are at the time of writing down to just the five four fixtures. By the time this hits the airwaves then… who knows!

In theory there are were two games on Saturday with Villa and Burnley kicking us off on their lonesome at 3pm before Leeds and Arsenal ‘completed’ the day at 5.30pm. Now it’s just the latter.

Sunday looks relatively crowded then with three games! Two at 2pm with Newcastle having the unenviable task of trying to restrict Man City as well as Wolves and Chelsea competing to see who can miss the most chances in a game. Our rather curtailed GW comes to an end at 4.30pm as Spurs welcome Liverpool.*

There is then a bit of respite with a break until next Sunday.

Assuming there is a GW19 to speak of it is our intention to have some normal articles on the upcoming midweek, but we shall probably, and quite sensibly play this by ear!

    • yes his worst game all season. Didnt do anything. Dont think I heard the commentator mention Salah once during the game.
      Better he was rested and I would have got vc Cancelo pts.
      Having said that, should we TC Salah vs Leeds. laugh

    • Yeah I see it being called. I certainly think more teams would want to call it off than play on

      • Agree. That round is particularly hard for teams with smaller squads.

    • If GW 20 is scraped, that take us to 21 when the new WC is available.
      Many will be on it straight away.

      • In wich gw does the transfer window close?

        • Transfer window is usually open from 1st until the 31st of January.
          There seems to be a two weeks winter break scheduled between GW 23 and 24 but with the latest developments nobody knows what will happen

    • I’ve no idea what that means for those of us who’ve held onto their first WC!!

      • So far, 11 games have been postponed and need rearrangement.
        That said, we don’t know what might happen before Boxing Day. A total chaos wacko

      • I still have my WC – get the feeling I may lose it – but if they give us a freebie – it wouldnt matter

        • I think that’s probably what’ll happen. Essentially a reset.

          already been tinkering with my WC ready for when I have to do it.

        • Trying to get a team where i know every single player will play, so if games get cancelled, I have a bench that will play.
          My WC is not like my normal WC I normally due because of the virus – thats the problem.
          I will tinker some more as I am sure I could scrap some money from somewhere…lol

        • I’ve just realised we’re only looking at 1GW being postponed, not the whole set of Xmas fixtures. I misread it at first. I doubt we’ll get a freebie for just missing 1GW.

        • Are they not looking at GW19 and GW20 fixtures seeing as they fall so close together?

        • It’s GW20 only. I’ve no idea of the source of that article though. By then we’ll all have had Omicron at least 5 times.

  5. Just a reminder folks. Its at the end of gw 19 that the top 64 in the Regs league qualify for the Regs cup. In case of gw 19 being called off it will be the top 64 as of now.

  6. I haven’t used my WC yet, will need to use it or lose it.

    I just can’t decide on who to have in attack. I think I have had everyone in there at some stage this season.

    Not sure about Smith Rowe. I just traded in Martinelli with my free trade. Why hasn’t he been starting games (2 goals off bench have been a bonus)

    Keepers i usually go cheap

    • Might as well use it, not now maybe but to set up for January and beyond.

      Problem is that it’s usually best to play them at the start of the current GW to help with any price rises of players you want.

      Another problem is that there’s an ultra-contagious variant of Covid stalking the land. There may be more postponements.

      The above seems ok for me but I may try to bend the machinery a bit to get Ronaldo in. Mount, too, thinking about it.
