Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 18

There may be some games to chat about…

We are at the time of writing down to just the five four fixtures. By the time this hits the airwaves then… who knows!

In theory there are were two games on Saturday with Villa and Burnley kicking us off on their lonesome at 3pm before Leeds and Arsenal ‘completed’ the day at 5.30pm. Now it’s just the latter.

Sunday looks relatively crowded then with three games! Two at 2pm with Newcastle having the unenviable task of trying to restrict Man City as well as Wolves and Chelsea competing to see who can miss the most chances in a game. Our rather curtailed GW comes to an end at 4.30pm as Spurs welcome Liverpool.*

There is then a bit of respite with a break until next Sunday.

Assuming there is a GW19 to speak of it is our intention to have some normal articles on the upcoming midweek, but we shall probably, and quite sensibly play this by ear!

  1. As we realised that Salah is no no more the staple captain, what are his alternative choices?

    • Let’s see what games are on before we start concerning ourselves with such difficult questions!!

      • Ivan has been waiting since GW2 to bring back up his anti-Salah agenda. Yes GW2, the last time Salah blanked. laugh

        • And, Mito has been edging to highlight this since his absence for God knows how long before.

    • Is this…a joke? If it is maybe start thinking of some new gags because this one is wearing very thin. It’s boring and you are taking advantage of the good natured vibe on this site. You know full well you’d be shot down in flames on other sites for persistently coming out with this stuff.

      If it isn’t then maybe put a few ideas down. If you’re not seriously thinking of captaining him at home, versus Leeds, then please let us know who you think are the main alternatives.

      Show us some originality Ivan. Give something more to the site than trying to get a rise out of people.

      • Kralin, I don’t understand your problem. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You were the same party pooper back in FF1st and I am not surprised that quite a few refused to join this site because of you and your negative comments when someone disagree. You think of yourself as some great adviser, in fact, what you do is parroting others ideas, the same shit wrapped in a different colour tinfoil.

    • Ronaldo soon or TAA/ Cancelo, maybe Son if Spurs play like yday. But at home to Leeds next, has to be Mo.

      • I did captain Ronaldo and TAA recently and they gave similar returns to Salah.
        THis week I stuck with Salah thinking Spurs could be rusty. I would have c Cancelo (vc him) maybe but have Dias too so a double up plus C in ManC seemed excessive.

  2. After some bad decisions recently, I get my haul. Cancello captain screamed in and helped me rise to the highest rank I’ve ever been. Currently sitting at third in our regulars league. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks everyone for your advice I would be anywhere near this rank without everyone.

    • Love this I weren’t brave enough to go Cancelo but I’m not surprised it came good. I really wanted to do it

  3. 1st wildcard has to be used this week or its lost, correct?

      • I think the big perm is eluding to the fact that gw20 kick-off on the 28th may be postponed or cancelled. It’s interesting though, if the deadline doesn’t change (but cancellation occurs) one could plan this gw19 out and then use it going into the blank week/gw21 and get a new one immediately after… It’s all a bit of a guessing game right now though :/

    • Bigp, it’s by the deadline on the 28th, as per Allan’s pic. The Site Team is playing theirs this week though, finally!

      Couple of reasons and none really stack up in terms of making sense or in terms of what one would do with one’s own team (no idea why I suddenly turned into the Queen there…);

      1. We are using it is an opportunity to make a bit of a Christmas Tips article out of it, sort of 2 birds with one stone.

      2. Means we aren’t having to scramble one in-between drinks and food on Boxing Day! And I don’t particularly much fancy a lengthy article then either, it’ll be more ‘here’s our team for GW20, crack on’.

    • yes but question is how many of the 10 matches will take place?
      will it again be down to 4 or 5 matches & a lottery which games take place & get cancelled?

      • It’s definitely going to be a lottery.

        • Now they have voted to continue I’d guess the teams may have to play regardless.

        • That’s true Smash. Still a lottery as to which players play.

        • If that is the case, premier league should reject postponement requests. Unless there are really less than 14 players available.

        • It’d be pretty difficult to justify a cancellation now if it’s only 13 as most clubs will be carrying about 50 players when you combine the 1st team squad with the U23’s. So you’d have to have about 37 players out either ill or injured and have to be able to demonstrate that they genuinely are.

          The other previous argument has been having to close the training facilities but I doubt that’ll rub now as they wouldn’t ordinarily be training that much over Christmas anyway with all the games being on top of each other.

          They’ve more or less backed themselves into a corner of having to play regardless.

          Might actually be a blessing if some of these U23’s have to get a run out as one or two are bound to impress. I know Man Utd certainly have at least a couple or three who wouldn’t look out of place. I only know this because I get to watch them fairly regularly as they play down the road.

  6. This guy in my mini league just overtook me in a dramatic manner, and is far ahead now.
    He even has 9 points from Alonso on the bench!
    What a gameweek for him!
