Welcome back to FPL and if you are one of these shut-down-completely types who has spent the time between the end of Gameweek 3 and this deadline up a mountain with no internet or civilisation, you haven’t missed an awful lot (pffft)! Just tell me you made your transfers or pressed the confirm button correctly? No? You could be in for a rough one then.

Anyway, the fixtures themselves have us off to the capital this lunchtime for a South meets North affair as Palace host Spurs at Selhurst Park.

At 3pm – in a continuing glorious and welcome return of normality – we have count ’em SIX matches on offer. Those who have the luxury of watching matches at this time, we guess you may have your eyes fully on Old Trafford as the world watches how Newcastle will line up without Callum Wilson. United v United, Red v Black and White.

Arsenal and Norwich square off in what already looks like a six-pointer (jokes) and there are matches at Southampton, as they welcome West Ham United, and Watford who host Wolves. Meanwhile two Cities collide at the KP where Leicester and Manchester renew rivalries with the Foxes sharing the most recent fortune in their meetings.

Lastly, it is ironic how two teams who play football on the ground sounds like the airborne battle of the weekend as the Bees play the Seagulls. Brentford v Brighton is also a phonetic dream.

At dinner time (winks), Chelsea and Rom go after the (Argentine-free) Villains.

Sunday has us waiting until 4.30pm before we can enjoy Leeds v Liverpool (Mark Viduka springs to mind) and until then, I don’t know – talk to your family or something I guess.

MNF is Everton v Burnley and is one for the DCL captainers to pin their Gameweek 4 hopes on.

Enjoy!

The games in full…

I was very worried seeing Ronaldo’s haul after switching captains last minute, glad Lukaku was able to match it.
Decent week for me, 75 including bonus with Jota to play, big green arrow incoming as long as Salah doesn’t make me pay. How’s everyone else fairing?

For those who have both Lukaku and Ronaldo: how are you gonna deal with this headache of whom to captain every week?

Lukaku from GW7 is set and forget as far as I can see.

I speak with the expertise of owning neither.

I’m actually prioritising Lukaku ahead of Ronaldo due to that looming run of fixtures. But then I own Bruno. I have no idea how Ronaldo’s impact on Bruno today – will be looking into that because there’s no point keeping Bruno if a lot of things he used to do won’t be happening anymore.

For the life of me I cannot see how I can get to a balanced team with Salah, Ronaldo and Lukaku all in situ.

Think I’ll go without Lukaku in the next two. After that I’m not sure as may want both as they will score a lot of points. I might ditch TAA and have all three but who knows at this point

      • Kralin says:

My feeling is three premiums = an unbalanced side and that the bargains – like Jota – may help create a much better balance. However I may have to hastily back-track on all that if GWs like today keep happening. But my long-term feeling is that a patient two premium approach will pick off unbalanced teams.

        Probably wishful feeling.

        • Special Agent Dale Cooper says:

Came to the same conclusion re 3 premiums. Let’s hope it works out for us. Not the best start ha.

        • Kralin says:

I can fully understand why people wildcarding this week went for Lukaku and Ronaldo straight away – really good fixtures this gw. Man U’s fixtures get trickier though.

Maybe it’s a mindset issue with me. The last few seasons we’ve been able to manage pretty easily with only a couple of premiums. Perhaps I’m being slow in adjusting to the new realities. But given only one of Lukaku / Ronaldo can be captained each week then one’d think balance elsewhere should be able to match / exceed those sides stuffed with premiums.

      Reg83 says:

based on fixtures. Nothing else. C the one with easier fixture on paper.
Though tricky one next game.. Lukaku away to TOT; CR7 away to West Ham.. Both not easy.
Could c Jota vs Palace at home if Firmino still confirmed out. Of the, next week, Ronaldo as TOT away not easy

      • Aarron13 says:

Spurs missing alot of defenders against Chelsea

      • Kralin says:

I had the ah delight of sharing a train carriage with a load of Palace fans going up to the match earlier. I am relieved beyond measure I missed them coming back. As a side note, there was lot of racist language coming out from them, kids and grandads and all.

Anyhow I want to read a bit more into how easy it was for Palace to pick them off today. Where I saw a tricky fixture for Chelsea now I’m not so sure. It’s a shame though that Lukaku will be up against City the day Ronaldo is up against Villa.

After that Lukaku has great fixtures then Ronaldo looks very good for Christmas.

        • Special Agent Dale Cooper says:

Shame about that sort of language. Esp given the colours of some of their best players. Had the same experience with some Brentford fans last season sadly.

        • Kralin says:

It was really bad, vile stuff. I’m the sort of person who reacts quite slowly when I hear stuff like that, in that I can’t quite believe what I’m hearing and so process it as if it’s almost something else, like they’re football fans thinking that it’s edgy and ironic to make racist comments about people on the train platform. Cowardly twats. The train carriage breathed a sigh of relief when they staggered out at Croydon. I was really hoping Spurs would win.

      • Gear says:

Captain Salah next week, home to Palace.

Well, after an exciting day I finished on 48.
    Only Salah left to play.

Would you say Ronaldo and Lukaku are a must in your team?
