Welcome back to FPL and if you are one of these shut-down-completely types who has spent the time between the end of Gameweek 3 and this deadline up a mountain with no internet or civilisation, you haven’t missed an awful lot (pffft)! Just tell me you made your transfers or pressed the confirm button correctly? No? You could be in for a rough one then.

Anyway, the fixtures themselves have us off to the capital this lunchtime for a South meets North affair as Palace host Spurs at Selhurst Park.

At 3pm – in a continuing glorious and welcome return of normality – we have count ’em SIX matches on offer. Those who have the luxury of watching matches at this time, we guess you may have your eyes fully on Old Trafford as the world watches how Newcastle will line up without Callum Wilson. United v United, Red v Black and White.

Arsenal and Norwich square off in what already looks like a six-pointer (jokes) and there are matches at Southampton, as they welcome West Ham United, and Watford who host Wolves. Meanwhile two Cities collide at the KP where Leicester and Manchester renew rivalries with the Foxes sharing the most recent fortune in their meetings.

Lastly, it is ironic how two teams who play football on the ground sounds like the airborne battle of the weekend as the Bees play the Seagulls. Brentford v Brighton is also a phonetic dream.

At dinner time (winks), Chelsea and Rom go after the (Argentine-free) Villains.

Sunday has us waiting until 4.30pm before we can enjoy Leeds v Liverpool (Mark Viduka springs to mind) and until then, I don’t know – talk to your family or something I guess.

MNF is Everton v Burnley and is one for the DCL captainers to pin their Gameweek 4 hopes on.

Enjoy!

On a WC as need to correct plenty of issues, Antonio, DCL and NEEDED Ronaldo!

Any obvious issues here? Still on the fence about pukki; like the idea of having Raph but don’t know how to fit him in.

Would appreciate any suggestions please good

      How about
      Sarr to Gallagher
      Ayling to Marcal
      Williams to Livermento
Not sure about Torres gametime so maybe downgrade him to Raph cool

      • Smash says:

On Torres he had a quiet game following on from his haul in previous match. He had a total of nine penalty area touches (highest in the game). This matched his four shots from inside the box. His mins will be limited like any other City player but end of the day he’s 7 million and not 10 million plus which is what a nailed on City striker would be

In your shoes I’d try to build a side with two premiums, not three, and see where that takes you. And think about who you’re likely to captain each week.

Anyone have in idea if Amartey will get his minutes back?

    Kralin,

Three premiums? Kralin makes a very good point about the ways in which three premiums can distort a team. Like many, I now have Antonio and DCL-in my case, after a questionable WC. I’m tempted to turn the two into Lukaku and Scarlett-as diagrammed.
My earlier 4-4-2 foundered on an ill-considered backline, but I think I now have a backline solution, one that should take me ten games deep. And Bamford for DCL would be three Leeda, more than I care for-perhaps move Ayling on for oops Marcal or Veltman (in gw5)? Is this still a reach?

      Smash says:

I think it distorts the team too much personally. It’s very reliant on the big 4 performing each week. However I think this is the way to do it if go that direction in a 4-4-2

      Kralin says:

I think that’s not too bad. Torres can placehold Mount maybe. The 4/4/2 works pretty well.

I’ve started thinking about getting Robbo back into the defence, given the weird lack of choice of 7 – 8m midfielders (though I’ll be looking at Chelsea soon enough).

I may ride my luck with one of Lukaku / Ronaldo and slot in the pieces around them – your Antonios, DCLs, Ings et al should help fill in the gaps.

I’m starting to question whether or not I should get Ronaldo now, given I’m almost certain to move in on Lukaku in GW7 – if not before, given my crippled front line. I wouldn’t even be captaining Ronaldo this GW, or next even, given Salah’s fixtures.

      • KI says:

Thanks very much for the detailed response. I’ve a few days to think the situation over.

        • Kralin says:

It was more a late-nite ramble really, talking mostly to myself.

I think in your shoes I’d switch Ronaldo over to Lukaku in a couple of GW, not get the latter now.

But there are no hard and fast rules here. Many managers will I’m sure prosper with three premiums plus TAA. Some with three premiums and no TAA. And some etc etc. It’s good for the game that two or three paths have opened up. Makes it a bit less predictable. Whether or not the three premium route becomes the template we’ll see. I have a feeling that sides over-reliant on cheap midfielders will not prevail but I’ll probably be wrong.
