Welcome back to FPL and if you are one of these shut-down-completely types who has spent the time between the end of Gameweek 3 and this deadline up a mountain with no internet or civilisation, you haven’t missed an awful lot (pffft)! Just tell me you made your transfers or pressed the confirm button correctly? No? You could be in for a rough one then.
Anyway, the fixtures themselves have us off to the capital this lunchtime for a South meets North affair as Palace host Spurs at Selhurst Park.
At 3pm – in a continuing glorious and welcome return of normality – we have count ’em SIX matches on offer. Those who have the luxury of watching matches at this time, we guess you may have your eyes fully on Old Trafford as the world watches how Newcastle will line up without Callum Wilson. United v United, Red v Black and White.
Arsenal and Norwich square off in what already looks like a six-pointer (jokes) and there are matches at Southampton, as they welcome West Ham United, and Watford who host Wolves. Meanwhile two Cities collide at the KP where Leicester and Manchester renew rivalries with the Foxes sharing the most recent fortune in their meetings.
Lastly, it is ironic how two teams who play football on the ground sounds like the airborne battle of the weekend as the Bees play the Seagulls. Brentford v Brighton is also a phonetic dream.
At dinner time (winks), Chelsea and Rom go after the (Argentine-free) Villains.
Sunday has us waiting until 4.30pm before we can enjoy Leeds v Liverpool (Mark Viduka springs to mind) and until then, I don’t know – talk to your family or something I guess.
MNF is Everton v Burnley and is one for the DCL captainers to pin their Gameweek 4 hopes on.

Antonio, Grealish and Barnes have gone and Ronaldo, Gray and Kovacic have arrived.
WC still available if I change my mind during the week.
u know kovacic wont score for another 2 or 3 years.. might as well get a 4.5 mid and keep the change
maybe he did it for TV – Kovacic may well go up a lot this week as people scrabble around to get Ronaldo in.
Antonio will go down and CR7 up tonight. Kovacic was just a pick from that price bracket. Originally was going to go for Moutinho but what the heck, he will spend most of the time on the bench.
Anyhow, all that can change if I decide to use the WC.
Can’t believe so many are moving Antonio on, it’s one game week! I think it’ll be good news for those that hold him though.
Yeah I won’t be moving him on. Will likely try and get better bench cover, When fit he’s the best value player in the game and you will only want him back
Was thinking of it myself, then leaving enough in the kitty to get him back for Toney.
But I take your point. Depends on one’s bench I suppose.

I don’t think I’ve got the energy for a wildcard so am planning to ditch him before GW6.
Though I may just do it this week, keeping Antonio in the side rather than the slightly over-thought Hokey Cokey I first had in mind. My bench is utterly dire however and this will mean unleashing Brownhill on a quaking Arsenal.
I’m going to play Williams instead next week. Watford at home, could be a clean sheet

Question now is, do I get Lukaku while I’m at it (and ditch Antonio)?
You’ll only be able to bring in Lukaku and Ronaldo – plus keep monies to one side for Antonio – if you cut back at the midfield and possibly throw TAA over.
If you look back at this week’s comments you will see tons of good wildcard sides, so just do a bit of research.
I think first priority is to get rid of irregular and expensive mahrez
U have like 6 players in total who are not regular starters. I would definitely wc
CR7 did score 2 goals, but it was at home, it was against Newcastle and they were pretty soft goals.

Yes and challenging fixtures ahead.
I’m seeing him as placeholding Lukaku but am probably kidding myself.
They are the type you want to see for me. A lot more to come. I mean the Greenwood assist was extremely lucky but strikers with that sort of movement will always score goals. I see Lukaku and Ronaldo being top of the goal scoring charts, will have to see if Salah keeps up which he probably will do
Doing well this year may come down to getting lucky with the 7m mids. Eg getting say Barnes if Leicester suddenly get hot. Or the likes of Saka.
The same can be said about salah getting a lucky penalty last game with a reflex handball. Or salah getting 2 lucky assists on gw1.. Of which one he barely touched and other one it just luckily it came to his path.
I see that as being in the right place at the right time to benefit from the lucky breaks. And who cares if a penalty is soft or not. These things even out.
And a game is played over 90 minutes; plenty of breaks don’t go for you.
And it was a penalty.
Reg, in every sport, including football, luck plays some role and has always been a part. If a player gets some luck on the day, it doesn’t diminish his credentials.
Not really at all as we know who takes pens so that will always happen. Ronaldo goals were predatory what you expect from a decent centre forward. I said the Greenwood one was lucky as it was one of the softest shots you will ever see. The sort you expect from a Fred for example and a clear GK error. Generally players though need to be in the right positions to force the errors
