FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9
Just as Gameweek 8 is escorted politely off the premises, we have a quick five minute tea break and welcome Gameweek 9. It’s coming at us like a train as well and it begins with another (brilliant!) Friday night deadline.
We kick off at the Emirates as Arsenal welcome Aston Villa in what will be the Gunners second match within 95 hours.
Saturday lunchtime’s offering is Chelsea v Norwich City at SW6 and fear not about captaining Romelu Lukaku as this is not (technically) the early kick off, well it is an early kick off. You get the point. That and the fact that Salah blew that daft theory to pieces in Gameweek 8.
Saturday then continues at 3pm with matches at Crystal Palace – who welcome Newcastle, Everton – who host Watford in the Z Cars derby, Leeds entertain Wolves and Southampton roll out the welcome mat for Dyche’s Clarets.
Saturday evening is spent on the south coast as Brighton and Potter will be hoping to cast a spell over Pep and his charges at the Amex.
Brentford v Leicester is one of two 2pm matches on Sunday, the other being the Europa League v Europa Conference League showdown as West Ham play Tottenham at the London Bowl.
Super Sunday is a cracker – Manchester United v Liverpool – it’s what red wine, a roast dinner and a coal fire was designed for and we also get to see again ‘The Best Player In The World (currently)’ TM.
Oh and it may also be the death rattle of Ole as well.
The games in full…

FF247 LEAGUES FOR 2021/22
Fantasy Football 247 League Codes:
Both leagues will be shut to new entrants as of 01/01/22.
I am on the verge of rage WC. My team looks good on paper every week and yet I somehow end with red arrows.
I know it’s early blah-blah but this keeps happening.
What’s your take?
Semedo, Amartey and Gilmour are the only ones that seem like potential transfers to me – the rest looks perfectly fine imo
Cheers Dane. I get what you are saying but them 3 + Raphinha is injured. White is not great. Havertz barely touched the ball, so he might not even start next week. Benrahma needs to go as well.
I’d keep Foster, TAA, Salah and Vardy from this team and maybe Dias and Antonio.
Raphinha injured? Oof another headache to deal with… Well yes, Benny has difficult fixtures but he can be benched vs MCI or CHE and it’s not like the rest of the 6ish mids are banging it left and right. He could score in the rest (yes incl LFC), so not urgent in my view.
Yes, the only real weakness I see is your 3rd defender (and 4th and 5th probably :)) feels like you would need a Chelsea one.
And maybe Benrahma as West Ham fixtures get more difficult.
But I don’t see a big reason to wildcard
I know I can roll with what I have and I’m not pressured into using it. It’s just that I get bigger red arrows every week and it’s too damn frustrating.
On the same boat as well. Feel like the 5.5-6.5mids options are not as good value as the 5.5ish def. Could playing 4 at the back bring more points?
Yeah, I guess. It’s just hard to fit hem in without hits. However, if I don’t go ahead with the WC but I will probably go for another -4. Something like Semedo to Chilwell/James and Raphinha to Mbeumo (if no one else gets injured).
Yeah. Considering to hit the WC myself to sort out Raphinha , Benrahma and bring in TAA and Chelsea def
The GW’s not over yet so I wouldn’t fret too much. I know what you mean though. I wildcarded last week because I felt that the boat was sailing without me. It was more a minor correction WC than a drastic rewriting of the script. Just getting the house in order.
In terms of transfers I would try to shoehorn a Chelsea defender in there somehow, probably by bringing Mbeumo in. Livramento missing is another concern. He is pretty handy and allows for flexibility of formation.
I’d just stick with one 4.5 goalkeeper. Sanchez seems fine to me.
Cheers, Kralin. I can barely see the boat now – I am that far behind.
What do you think about something like this for a WC? I think I will be able to restructure for the fixture swings around GW15 with FTs (unless injuries dictate most of my moves, again). Is it worth it? I have enough money for Foden to Son in GW11.
I think it’s ok.
I went for three quality defenders rather than four, which allowed a bit better balance. I see Livramento as defender 4.
Foden goal. Finally.
2???
I’ll take that.
The 2nd one was really lucky as it was Jesus shot deflected accidentally by Fodens heel and went home.
Pure class. I scored my best goals that way.
My captain so not complaining
Replace Raphina with Havertz or Mount?
Mount, I guess. Havertz did not look ready yet.
Mount was pure class today!
Evening all, I hope the GW is going well for everyone. I know it’s early but I’m trying to plan ahead for my transfers, I’ve already been priced out of a lot of moves due to prices changing, like Lukaku going down and Vardy and Son going up.
What are your thoughts on:
GW 10: Lukaku >> Kane, and Raphinha >> ESR if he’s injured
GW 11: Antonio >> Vardy
GW 12: Havertz >> Son
Not convinced with Kane mate…Luka Vardy for now.
Thanks bees, I might get Vardy this week and Auba next
Hey Veer, here’s my advice (and please feel free to ignore it if you disagree but it comes from a good place). I think early transfers are causing you the most problems. I had a quick look through your transfer history and noticed that 90% of your moves are made on a Sunday or Monday evening, almost always early in the week. I would try (as hard as it is) to wait until as late as possible. It’s good to have a plan, but as we learned with Lukaku this week, everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face!
Thanks Rosco that’s heartfelt advice, I do tend to be a bit impatient and want to get my transfers done as soon as I decide them, or get tempted by price changes
It can be hard, but sometimes a little patience (and info) can be worth a few 0.1s! I like your plans for what it’s worth, but maybe try a different approach if your current one is not working out! Best of luck pal!!
Thanks mate
Sound advice Rosco.
Gentleman as always.
Jamie
Would you bring in Chilwell or TAA for Alonso?
Chilwell for me
Lamptey is looking as usual lively till he remains fit.
