Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 1

The International break is here and it is of course time for another edition of Bore Off! As ever during the international break we take the time to catch up with some of our site regulars, ask them how their seasons are going and get their thoughts on some key issues that we all want answers to. And then of course ask them some stupid questions that we all really don’t want answers to but are too intrigued to look away. Joining us for part 1 of this double header are Rosco, Swirly and Matt. Thanks for taking the time out to answer our questions guys. Over to you…

Thanks for the article. Fun, and it gives many ideas!

I am on wildcard, and I hesitate between these three teams.
They have in common: Kane, Salah, Morata (must haves IMO); no City forward due to rotations; at least one City mid because they are so good; two good defenders; two cheap GK that get many points.
I am also tempted to take a punt on Fellaini.

Team A, with Lukaku as a third premium forward.

      Vinci says:

Team B, Vardy as a mid-price forward, KdB as the most reliable City mid, 0.8 ITB.

      • Vinci says:

And team C, Murray as a cheap forward, 2 city mids, Azpi (no Fellaini)

Presently, I tend to prefer teamC, closely followed by team A…
But I would love to get your opinions!

        • Rosco77 says:

          Hey Vinci,
Team C is the one I prefer the Most so I’ll comment on the things I don’t like / think could be improved upon:

1.Sterling and Sane could work well but you could alleviate some of the risk and turn one of them into Zaha / Ramsey / Richarlison. If you went not he cheaper side you could turn the other into KDB who I think will ultimately get more minutes and points over the season.

          2. We’re headed for a very busy xmas period, I would want 15 playing players so Rangel is a no-go for me. City haven’t been playing that well at the back so perhaps you could turn him into someone like Duffy and then pick up another 4.5 in place of Rangel.

          3. I think RLC would be a better 4.5 than Carroll.

          4. I think Murray will be a short term solution that you’ll only have to waste a transfer on, he’s playing well but Abraham would be the better choice long term IMO.

Just some thoughts and I don’t think its a bad team and I’m sure others will have their opinions.

Point 2 would be a priority for me here though!

Thanks a lot Rosco to have taken the time for this thorough answer!
You raise a lot of good points. in particular, I did not factor in the chrismas period – and the fact that a playing 5th defender would come in handy…
And as you did things well, all your suggestions fit into my budget!

The only thing I am not sure of, is whether I want to sacrifice my Sterling/Sané pair for a KdB/Richarlison pair (+playing 5th defender). I would love that pair, they could generate together loads of points, even if both rarely will start the games…
Luckily, i have another 10 days or so to think about it!
          thanks again.

        • Rosco77 says:

I f you really want Sane and Sterling then go for that, you have to go with your heart!

You could then downgrade Stones to a defender up to the value of £5.1m, although personally I would be looking to have 2 X premium and 3 x £4.5m who rotate well, this will serve you well over the busy xmas period where we’ll see 6 Game Weeks (GW 16-22) in just 25 days!

        • Rosco77 says:

Make that 7 Game weeks in 25 days!!

        • Vinci says:

          Thanks again Rosco.
I really like the resulting team!
Now I can relax and enjoy it being destroyed by the IB injuries! smile

Many thanks fellas, got a chance to read it just now, really appreciate you taking the time, in particular in Rosco’s case as he probably had to take a day off from work to finish answering.

Oh and Swirls, I wouldn’t invite Zaha over, Moyes made that mistake. 😉
