Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 1
The International break is here and it is of course time for another edition of Bore Off! As ever during the international break we take the time to catch up with some of our site regulars, ask them how their seasons are going and get their thoughts on some key issues that we all want answers to. And then of course ask them some stupid questions that we all really don’t want answers to but are too intrigued to look away. Joining us for part 1 of this double header are Rosco, Swirly and Matt. Thanks for taking the time out to answer our questions guys. Over to you…

Great read thanks – makes the international break almost bearable.
Here’s an idea I’m toying with. Does anyone else think that doubling up on Burnley defence is an option? They have 3 of the top four VFM defenders with only Jones breaking their stranglehold there, and having looked into it they have 8 games left against top 6 opponents, with six of those being home games. Chances are one of them would sit on the bench most weeks but the option is there to double up for some fixtures.
Wouldn’t be opposed to say Pope and Mee.
That would work, though I was thinking Mee and Lowton as I have DDG, and Pope will likely lose his spot whenever Heaton returns. That’s just personal preference though in the way I want to plan, which basically involves avoiding any defensive transfers if possible – and Burnley I could happily hold for the season unless something drastic happens to their defensive form.
I posted a possible WC last night – don’t know yet if I’ll do it this week or in a few more – depends on the Sterling/Kane injuries – but defence would be:
DDG/Elliot
Azpi/Jones/Mee/Lowton/AN Other
That certainly works. Only said Pope as every time I put on the radio or TV when they are playing he seems to have made yet another miracle save! Just looked and he has 9 save bonus in 7 games. In 4 of those he was 1 off getting another so could easily have been 13 in 7. He’s 3rd top for overall saves already too, on 37, having only started since GW5.
But yeah, depends on Heaton. He’s still listed as no return date. Was an op though so could be a while.
I would have Pope myself if I hadn’t decided on the DDG strategy for this season. I have a disastrous record with cheaper keepers in FPL – in fact, If I did have Pope he’d be conceding three a game so to all those that do, you have me to thank for not buying him
Cheers for the input Initt – nice to know it doesn’t sound completely crazy. I might yet do it, but not until I use the wildcard.
I’d certainly be along the same lines in terms of defence if I was WC’ing – double Utd and Burnley – one being a keeper.
Hey guys. Great read cheers. I’ll either do A Davies and Davis to Lowton and richarlison or
B Davies and rosenior to Lowton and Francis.
Either option for a hit. Thanks chaps.
A. By a mile.
OK cheers Initt. I’ll be playing with ten men though if I do that.
Why is it even an option then?! :shake:
It might still pay off. That’s what I’m trying to decide.
man u man
I would use this Otamendi suspension as the ideal opportunity to rebalance your defence by bringing in a decent replacement and upgrading one of your £4.0 lads.
Otamendi and Rosenior to Stones and Mee?
Cheers GP.
Just get Speroni for Foster and ship out Rosenior or Davies downgrade and get someone for Rosenior. You need another playing defender
It might still pay off with ten men, that’s what I’m trying to decide.
You can’t take a hit to then deliberately play 10 men, surely?
Maybe I’m being daft, but I’m seriously considering it.
I use to have a manager who thought we were better with 10 and started a game like that once, he was replaced not long after.
Lol. OK OK point taken. I’ll have to see what I can do to have 11 playing then.
Especially after an IB. There are always unexpected omissions after one. Just think you’re playing with fire and may get unlucky and suddenly see that ‘nailed 10’ become a limp 8 or something.

Which of Daniels or Ward? Both have good fixtures ( daniels little better) and same value at moment?
colonial
If I may advise, I would go Ward as I fancy that Burnley, so long as Dyche remains manager, are more secure at the back and I think clean sheets are more likely.
OK GP done and many thanks
Would have been my answer too. Daniels is obviously a bit more forward thinking but baseline stats show 1 goal and assist for both and that Ward has 5 CS’s and 9 Bonus as opposed to Daniels on 2 and 2. Take the CS’s. Unless as GP says Dyche goes.
Well done to the three amigos this turn. That was a fantastic read. I lreally enjoy hearing how FPL players would improve the game with new rules/chip ideas etc.
Can’t wait til tonight’s one as well. Love hearing the thoughts of you guys so please continue to step up for these and let the guys know if you can do one for the next international break etc. Hope I’m not speaking out of turn here with that, I may be being selfish there
Well, would rather people put their hand up than the current method of kidnapping them and forcing them to speak :bandit:
That’s how they get you guys.
Be on guard.
