Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2016-17
FPL is finally open and ready for business and so are we with a new edition of Bore Off. This will only be one of the many articles we will try and bring you over the coming weeks, all leading to GW1 and the beginning of another season. For any new members we welcome you to the site and we hope you enjoy this article. For the veterans, you know the drill. Cookie (United fan) hates Liverpool, Init (Everton fan) hates Liverpool and Kop (Liverpool fan) hates Liverpool. Think that is a fair assessment of all three. Well ok, having seen the prices and some of the options I have called back The Three Amigos from their summer vacation to get some early observations from them for questions that many of us are wondering about.
Who should we turn to at City? Is Cesc worth considering? And Giroud…of course, don’t matter what the question is about, it’s Giroud. So without further ado, let us get to our question and answer segment quickly so we can let Cookie go back to watching Love Island and complaining about Theo being out.

The Fixture Tracker…
1) Kompany, Coutinho, Phillips*, Gabbiadini
2) Kompany, Coutinho, Tadic, Rodriguez
3) Trippier, Coutinho, Phillips, Rooney
Which would you pick?
*alternatives to Phillips could be: Chamberlain, Ince, Ritchie
Hi Ian. Hard to pick without the rest of the squad for context. Personally, Trippier won’t be compromised in my team, although I think Kompany is a good shout with their fixtures. Not sure Gabbiadini’s game time is clear, is it? Rooney’s fixtures are disgusting to begin with and therefore I’d go for (2).
I probably take 2 with the option of taking Gayle instead of JROD if the game time for him doesn’t look as expected.
+1
Morning all. Was just wondering what the latest on Andrew Robertson was re: signing for Liverpool and what that would mean for Milner. Also, noticed Shaw has been knocked back to ‘0% chance’ although I can’t see any news meriting that change?
What are people’s thoughts on Jesus and Aguero? Will they play up top together? Would you still choose Aguero?
Firstly i think Milner will get knocked to the bench.
And i’m going Aguero.
Cheers Ant. That would make things easier from a fantasy perspective as Pool’s fixtures aren’t great. I’m leaning towards him too, although Jesus’ PPG was very impressive.
@AT, Think Milner probably starts, but once CL starts then I think some sort of rotation will be established, so even if Milner is the starter I still think it could be a problem.
Shaw said “I haven’t got a timescale but I am feeling really good, working hard and the sooner the better.” Guessing they saw that as a problem because they thought he did have a set date to a degree.
Think they will play together and if they do, I rather have Kun, because he won’t work defensively like Jesus will and won’t come out wide as much.
Mito, only just seen this – cheers for the info! I’m going to leave Shaw in my team for now.

Back after a year off last season, this is my first draft of a side, has anyone any suggestions, this is with the assumption that Iheanacho moves to another side
canu
Apart from Iheanacho I like it. I would go with Gayle/Rodriguez/Austin or Deeney. Even if Iheanacho goes to Leicester, he’ll need time to fit in I think. Big change.
I have a funny feeling he will thrive as soon as he has the confidence of being top dog.
If he’s at Leicester he won’t be that – he’ll need to adapt to Vardy.
Which team would you pick?
Team A or Team B
Or Team C
I like the look of B best.
C just nicks it for me because of the mids, but B looks good to me also with the upgrade at striker.
I suppose if you consider that Zaha and Ramsey are both interchangeable… then the question around Team B and Team C, which two would you go for:
1) Redmond and Firmino
or
2) Coutinho and Rodriguez
I’d really like to have Coutinho in my team, but with Southampton’s fixtures and Firmino potentially likely to start in a more advanced role, I’m beginning to feel tempted to go Redmond/Firmino.
I prefer 1, just because I am not completely confident about JRod yet. Cookie in one of his answers mentions him as someone he is keeping an eye on this pre-season, he is also on my radar, but I must see something from him to really have me ready to invest in him. Until that happens I rather have 1, but if JRod looks ready to go, I rather have 2.
J Rods name always comes up. He has not really done anything for a very long time
J Rod in my team @ present if he doesn’t prove pre season I will just give the job to Murray 😉
J Rod and forgotten man Berahino are ones to keep an eye on in pre season for me
Does anyone know much about the new forward Everton signed from Spain? Wondering if he might be worth keeping an eye on as a third option up front. I like Josh King, but you can’t help feeling he won’t get as many with Defoe there.
Hi straygoat
Cookie wrote this for us on the Everton lads including Sandro Ramirez:

@Goat, nice player, if he adapts to the PL, Everton got an absolute steal. To add to what Cookie said, he is also a very good free kick taker and he finished in great form. Last 9 games he scored 7 goals and had 2 assists and 4 of those games were against teams qualified for European Competition including games against Madrid and Barca.
Sounds good. Def worth a look at as a cheaper 3rd striker then. Sorry, I’m still getting used to this site – hard to keep track of different threads.
I thought you were just trying to live up to your name. 😉
No worries mate.
Mito has been round the block a few times and can direct you. 😉
