Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 The European Edition
Welcome to the Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 The European Edition article. Another international break, another bore-fest for FPL managers everywhere. Just as we begin to build some momentum and look forward to bouncing from one weeks ecstasy to the next’s disappointment we are cruelly curtailed again. What it does allow us the chance to do though is to pause and reflect on our performance so far. Have we made the right choices, are our teams headed in the right direction, do we have plans laid out or are we basically just winging it week to week? They’re probably questions most serious FPL players ask themselves on a weekly basis and so we thought we would take this international break as a chance to actually ask those questions, and more, to some our own resident writing team. What follows is their take on their own season so far, their plans ahead and their thoughts on how things may pan out in general, as well as the usual few teasers at the end! We had six volunteers and they coincidentally, and conveniently, managed to split into two obvious groups in this the Ryder Cup season. One being European based and the other being US based. The USA contingent beat their European rivals to the punch for the 2nd time in a week and got theirs in first the other day, here’s the take on it from ‘our’ side of the pond. ‘Our pond’ 😉
I have just read the GABO articles from the USA & European’s & very entertained I was , I particularly liked Tekno’s big clumsy & dim just after he had written free from societal oppression and tyranny I thk not mate , and one of my favourite writers Chins & his gardener mate what he doesn’t tell us is what he has growing in his green house.
Thanks again Swirly Tenko , Kop , Chins , Guy and Mitro21 for entertaining us in this dire IB plus a big thanks to whomever put it together :smiling:
Cheers Silvers, you’re a free spirit like me aren’t you??? Let’s hang out
Hey guys, brilliants articles as always. Not sure which one was better.
Can I have your thoughts on my team. I have done no research at all this week so I am a little behind…
Played wildcard, 1 free transfer and 0.6 in the bank
Thankyou in advance.
Hi stewy
You’re going to have to wait until we get further news on your injury concerns. Sterling should be fine and as I understand it, Cedric is being assessed by Southampton currently. Add to that Baines as well and it could well be that you need to make a defensive move. Luckily your forwards and midflelders are very strong anyway.
If you have a clean bill of health, you could save the FT. Taking Pickford instead of Jakupovic would also increase your options in time.
Another great international break article guys. The answers for the last question
Haha, thanks for the Euro installment of GABO Init, Swirly, Tekno, and Kop! Really enjoy these fellas, great way to pass the time as we count the minutes until the next GW. Not sure I’d classify the Lovely Bones as a chick flick though Kop, that movie was pretty creepy and dark! Thankfully the wife doesn’t try to get me to watch chick flicks anymore, she gave up on that years ago.
Maybe not Red, but boy was it rubbish
Yeah, getting dragged to a movie that you don’t want to see is no fun Kop. I got kicked out of the theater the last time my wife tried that. She fooled me into going to the movie version of Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman by showing me the trailer which had all sorts of action and explosions. I was squirming in my seat once I realized it was still a musical and they were going to sing every friggin’ line. I got sent to the car after about an hour when I kept nodding off and embarrassing her by snoring. Gotta say, sitting in the car was way more exciting and at least nobody was signing!
Red, my Mrs dragged me to that as well! Terrible movie. It had two good ‘songs’ in it but the rest were sleep enducing. I’ve been known to nod off at the cinema myself
Haha, that’s too funny Kop. International shared misery at Les Miserables!
Gw3 rank– 1.2m+ gw7 rank 222,068,currently at 371 points..already done 3 transfers this week-(son,deeney , aguero)
any insights..want to the carry on the positive momentum
forster got me 3 straight cs.
That is a beast of a midfield mate.
You will do great over v the coming weeks. The only issue is your 3rd defender but I believe with your current playing 11, one defender can be compromised
Great job on the promotion in rankings mate. Keep up the good work.
Just a suggestion. Avoid taking hits. At least for those which are not the most prior ones
i m thinking in gw10 .. i will transfer out son and walcott..as their run of easy fixtures will be over..bring in firmino and milner..how is the idea of playing 3 mf of liverpool.is it a good move
441 points..nishant das.. impressive bro..good luck ahead..thanks for the input.
Thanks for reading this lads, glad you enjoyed it
It was fun reading it
Have a great season mate
great article..in the above article all 3 panelists preferred 3-4-3 formation…. with the form current mf in are… is it not safer to bet on midfielders.
Probably not a huge amount of difference as all you are really comparing is one mid vs one forward so for example in your team above it’d be say having Sterling vs having Costa / Lukaku instead. I’ve always preferred 3-4-3 personally but that’s not to say that’s the way to go. Your team looks great just as it is with the 3-5-2 deployed.
Just look at who the panelists are. You’re not going to get sound advice from that crew.
The USA group on the other hand….
