Grab, Avoid or Bore off!

Our first installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season is ready. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that we look like a Tiger Woods tee shot. So glad to get the fellas back together as they offer their opinions on everything from going without Haz & Kun to Giroud’s choice of underwear. So without further ado, let’s ask our “experts” some questions on the minds of many and some on the minds of none.

Cazorla with a goal and an assist after 60 minutes… very nice goal. Puts doubt on my Ramsey choice already! Nice start to pre-season for Arsenal too.

Lads I have a team sorted but want your opinion on these two teams to see which is better and then ill see which team I prefer.

Felt like I had created a good team, the risk being that it had no Arsenal players. This Asia cup final has shot that idea down quickly! Darn-it! Onto my 800th draft we go.

I’ve been having a think and have come up with this as a possible rout to Aguero if he doesn’t start the season off fit.

The idea would be to bank a FT straight away, move Ivanovic to Azpilicueta in GW3, then spend two in GW4 for Costa -> Aguero and simply choose the someone to downgrade after viewing them for three GW’s.

Sounds like a good plan mate. I can’t see anything wrong with it. Not too sure about Kaboul though is he going to be a starter?

      • NIN says:

Not sure how i’ve done that! Should be O’Shea in there.

        • MattX says:

Ah right that makes more sense.

I like that team NIN. Only thing i’m not keen on is Cabaye given Palace’s opening fixtures. Good balance and sounds like a decent Aguero plan nevertheless

        • NIN says:

Good stuff Tom. I’d actually be concerned with any Palace player other than Cabaye, myself. Top side can batter them all they want but there’s not much anyone can do if he bends a belter into the top corner. It’s worth looking back at some older footage for a reminder of just how dangerous he is. Set piece experts are pretty fixture proof.

        • TomW13 says:

Just had a look at some of Cabaye’s highlights. Look’s a brilliant free kick. Cheap at 6.5 i guess. Go for him!

        • NIN says:

Indeed, Tom. Add corners and penalties to that and you’ve got yourself a snip at 6.5m

      Andy says:

I’m always wary of planning FT’s 3 or 4 GW’s in advance as there are a load of variables that could be punted into the mix, I’d tend to lean more to just banking the cash so that it would be a case of one FT to bring him in if needed.

I fancy him to be involved from game 1 this season anyways as that second game against Chelsea could be massive so they should want Kun 100% game ready for that.

      • NIN says:

Cheers Andy, i do agree. It would take a few injuries to mess up the plan, but that is always a possibility. Just eyeing things up to see what’s possible. “If” all went to plan, do you think this route, or one similar, could be the best way of maximizing points early on without banking 2m or so? My thinking was that if all forwards are doing okay, then it would be Ivanovic and Mertesacker who make way to release funds. That’s where i put the 2m Kun downgrade cash.

        • Andy says:

It looks like it could boil down to predicting whether or not a defender will get you a goal or a assist from the opening two games which is just too hard for me, (Ivan the terrible does normally score on the opening days games though).

Normally when selecting my marquee defenders I’m trying to guess what they could score over the course of a season rather than 3 to 4 games.

        • NIN says:

I hear you re Ivanovic being an early season nightmare. I’d really like to start with him but wouldn’t mind dropping him for Azpilicueta to free up an Aguero move. Chelsea really had their way with Swansea last season too, think they won 9-2 over the two league games. Cheers for your input. I’ll have a think on it some more and see what comes of it

Quite happy with this team. Was going to go Butland and Ruddy in goals but went Fabianski instead of the former because I already have Stoke defensive coverage in Muniesa. Thoughts?

It’s a big call going without any Man City coverage Matt, they’d have to be early favorites to be the top scorers in the division again, I’m not all to keen in spending 6.0 million on a Bournemouth mid as well, seems expensive for a player in a newly promoted team with little EPL experience.
