Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore off!

Welcome to another installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season. As always we will tackle some of the most unimportant questions in FPL and in life in general. The 3 Amigos are back for another round of very difficult questioning and the occasional FPL question. Will Kun come straight in? Is Mertesacker slower than a dead turtle? Does Ozil see better at night? Will Miss Colombia be given a crown for the embarrassment they caused her? WoW! I am dying to see the answers, so let’s get to it and see what our 3 wise men have in store for us.

[highlight_yellow]This Bore Off was completed a couple of days before GW18, so if some of the questions seem a tad late, that is the reason.[/highlight_yellow]BO 1BO 2BO 3BO 4BO 5BO 6BO 7bore off desc

Who should I bench? Currently have Vardy and Toby because I’m playing Mahrez and Dier.

Ah some how got lucky and won my Cup H2H… Had Aguero as Cap and VC Lukaku (though I swear I thought it was KdB… BLEAK)
Anyway… not sure on starting line up and captain, help please smile

    Cech
    J.Evans Kolarov Ward
    Ozil KdB Mahrez Coutinho
    Ighalo Lukaku Aguero
    McCarthy Smalling Morgan Westwood
    1FT and 0.2m itb

Thinking of doing Kolarov out but for who (SP is 6.1m)? And use the left over funds to upgrade Morgan the following GW

Kolarov may pick up an assist and I would think Coutinho is on his last chance so maybe sit tight this GW and bin one or other next week to get some funds

        SAF
I thought Coutinho played very well against LEI, very lively so fine with him… for now.
Reason I say Kolarov is 2 fold… 1 they are useless defensively without Kompany and 2 he is now a rotation risk with Clichy…

But think I might save the FT and reassess next GW… Fine with the starting 11 and bench order? Who would you captain?

        • inittowinit says:

Hi PP, agree on Kolarov and he’s started the last 2 so I suspect Clichy comes in for this one. How about a switch to Bellerin?

Had a look at Coutinho and he’s another that’s actually scored more than half his points away from home so could be a decent differential this week given the fixture.

        • PeterPan says:

          Innit,
Was thinking of that, but not a fan of doubling up on a position (Arsenal defense) and have Cech already…
Is Toby the only real option? Or for the difference is Dier worth it rather? Else who?

Should I fear for an Olsson rotation? WBA?

      NIN says:

Maybe, but probably more likely in GW 20.

      • Raziel says:

Aaaah tnx mate. I have him, Kolarov (will be replaced) and Micah (semi-injured) to worry about. I think vDijk and Souare will miss no games. By the way, Olsson was subbed in the last game, after 59 minutes, for Beranhino though.

By the way, any thoughts on LVG? I really expected him to be out, or announce he left the club, today.

        • NIN says:

Van Gaal is confusing me, to be honest. He’s a top manager but just doesn’t seem to have the players’ backing just now and it’s showing on the pitch every week. At least that’s how it seems recently at least. If Chelsea beat United then i reckon he’ll leave on his own terms rather than wait for the sack. Whoever comes in needs to strip Rooney of the captaincy and then bench / bin the man. Useless.

        • Raziel says:

I think his second reign for Holland messed shit up. He was always playing attractive football with his teams. At Holland he didn’t have proper material to work with, so he build a team around Arjen Robben, focus on his strenghts. Which worked, they reached the semi’s with a mediocre team. However, United doesn’t have Arjen Robben and it should have more class (they really spend terribly).

Before, at his old teams, he always played awesome football and focussed on attack and no so much defense. Now a cs and positioning seems more important than entertaining the crowd. At Bayern when he reached the finals of the CL and almost won the treble, the focus was too little on defense, they lost the finals to a team that setup the squad to park the bus, Mourinho’s Inter. The team he left behind at Bayern, was close to being superb, he just refused to buy a new goalie (Neuer) and/or new defenders. Heinckes that took over just had to buy Neuer, a defender and a mid, they won he CL with ease.

Yawns, seems I’m ranting again. My point, he has always been a class manager but he changed his philosphy (from attacking play to …), he is too stubborn to admit when he’s wrong (which is also a strenght, in a way, got him this far) and well he rarely gets the support of older players (which is a real bad sign). He’s good, smart, tactical but he won’t be able to safe United. United is a ticking timebomb, it seems. Too many unhappy players, I don’t have the feeling the team is behind him (same as with Mourinho). What I don’t get, why do United fans want Mourinho? Mou’s probably one of the best managers ever, but he got great by parking the bus with his teams, even with Real Madrid (where he had Ronaldo/Kaka and so on).

          ZOmg, stopping now. Brainfart. >.<

        • NIN says:

Maybe so yeah. This United team just doesn’t play like a Van Gaal team at all so i reckon he’s lost support. We’ll see what happens against Chelsea, though.

As for Mourinho, he’s the best available manager. I’d rather United went for Ancellotti but he’s supposedly going to Bayern next season. Great, great manager.

        • Raziel says:

Sometimes, when coaches/managers get too old, they lose their ways. Hiddink isn’t the best coach and in all honesty I think he lost his ways. Hiddink however is a great psychologist and that’s what Chelsea needs, a father figure.

Just read Villa twitter, Micah is fit. So instead of replacing Kolarov, I think I’m going to replace Hazard with either Wally or Ramsey.

    Mr Bean says:

Haven’t been on for a while but struggling a bit this week…

Made 1 FT this week to bring Ward in, still 1 in the bank for injuries over New Year.

Toby or Olsson? I have Ighalo up top and Newcastle have only scored 5 away from home this season but Spurs seem too solid…do I go for maximum points return or cover both bases in the Spurs Watford game?

Coutinho is a massive gamble but don’t like any other captain prospects.

    Thoughts?

      Raziel says:

You reckon Olsson will start? I don’t see Spurs keeping many cleansheets in the 3 upcoming games, it would surprise me. Kola can also be rotated, don’t think he will start. Hmmm. Capping COutinho?

      • Mr Bean says:

Its a gameweek to be brave I think. Been floating around 250-300k for 7 weeks and its boring!

No idea who will start at all to be honest, at least 3 of the defence will so I have cover there.

Wanting to rid of Kola soon but theres no steady defences to go for.

        Ahhh this is a nightmare.
