Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21
Guess who’s back, back again….
With the FPL season getting closer and closer to starting it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues: GP of Scottish fantasy fame, Rosco of FPL fame and… Cookie.
I asked for the site members to provide any questions they wanted answering, and did they ever! Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to Smash, Stone Frog, Tornado, Silvers, Chipster and dennisim for providing the bulk of the questions, they basically wrote it for me.
Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say.
Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

Love a GABO! Aguero and Sterling have got into my thoughts now. How do we fit them in?! :close_tema: Aguero will probably be easier (as he won’t be in one of the coveted mid spots). I’m on Werner/Ings/Brewster currently – waiting desperately for a Brewster loan move!
I think it depends only your strategy regarding kdb or sterling. If you picking and sticking with your premium mids then go kdb. He’s consistent. If you shuffling your premiums around go sterling as he’s got a higher ceiling
How are we all can I get some thoughts on Doherty now he has gone to Spurs do we thk he starts first GW & do we thk his points are hampered now
Have to feel like he’ll be straight in with all the talk of Aurier moving. If he plays in a similar position to Aurier when can expect him to be fairly advanced.
Even if he’s nailed on, it all comes down to how he is used by Mourinho. Will he get similar opportunities to infiltrate the box as he did at Wolves? I’m thinking not, and here’s why:
Last season Doherty has more touches in the opposition box than any other defender. That’s where he scored all of his fantasy points, a bit like Alonso when he was at his best. At Wolves he was allowed to venture into the box and play at times as a second striker. A lot of the time Traore was the wise man allowing Doherty to cut inside as well. With Kane and Son and a handful of other great attacking options at Spurs, I just don’t trust that Mourinho will allow Doherty the same freedom he had at Wolves, so with that in mind, 6.0m for him when the likes of Davies is at 5.0m (or even Dier) is just too much for me I think…
I disagree with this. Aurier’s heat map under Mourinho was higher up the pitch than any other RB in the league. They ain’t signed him to be defensive. So does this mean more freedom. As for Traore playing Doherty’s stays were better when he weren’t in the team as Traore was the one who got the ball further up the pitch. For all we know Jose will play 3-5-2 he has the players to do that
Yeah, that’s kind of my point. If you look at last season’s stats, yes Aurier had more touches in the final third than Doherty, Aurier also creates more chances and more big chances than Doherty did. But Doherty had more touches in the box, and a lot more big chances. Put it simply, Aurier was a provider last season whereas Doherty was a scorer, well more than Aurier anyway. And that’s why Doherty got more points than Aurier, he scored more goals.
So, yeah, I believe Doherty will get assists and perhaps the odd goal too at Spurs, but I don’t believe he will spend as much time in the opposition box at Spurs, but of course I could be wrong… If Spurs become defensively solid then Doherty could be worth it, but I have my reservations for now…
They are different players so will do different things, the important thing is to notice how far forward they will get: Aurier liked to cross the ball early as that’s his game Doherty will not be. So do t think you can judge it like that.
The Spurs defence is a different story compared to the Wolves defence but I still think he will be as attacking is my point
Yes, they are different players, but the same goes for the team, Spurs and Wolves are two different teams as well with different managers, players, and strategies, so equally you can’t say Doherty will do the same things he did at Wolves, we’ll see…
I’m not , I’m saying he will be allowed to attack. Otherwise they would have signed someone else is basically my point
Yeah I get that logic and could be you’re right there, I’m just still a bit worried… Was Doherty a player Mou really wanted to buy? Or was it more Levy?
This back-and-forth has been exactly the train of thought inside my own brain for the past 24 hours. It’s weird seeing it set out in text. Like an FPL angel and devil on either shoulder.
Which one out of Smash and Zed are you saying is the devil then?
It’s good to get two sides
I can volunteer as the devil :laugh2:
But yeah, like Smash says it’s great to have dialogue and conversation with different views and angles on various subjects!
Very much appreciate the dialogue.
Chipster – I reckon you might be the devil here!
:hippo:
James Rodgriguez to Everton… who dares?
Only if he comes in at 7 mil or below. I think he’ll be around 8 so probably not.
Doubt I’ll be able to afford him or the gamble as doubt he comes in under 7
A little tinker and have this. Ings to martial gw 2.
Dennisim looks a well balanced team I like it
I really like it
Guys would you rather have greenwood and martial, or Fernandes and Antonio?
It’s kind of Mitrovic/Adams and Bruno for the same cash as Antonio is 6.5, but think I’ll be debating the same thing after week one.
Greenwood and Martial; Antonio’s fixtures look horrendous. Fernandes does look tempting though.
This (on the basis ManU don’t sign any more attackers)
Man U man I thk Martial & Greenwood but only because of Antonio fixtures
Cheers Silvers, it could solve a few problems for me,
