Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21

Guess who’s back, back again….

With the FPL season getting closer and closer to starting it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues: GP of Scottish fantasy fame, Rosco of FPL fame and… Cookie.

I asked for the site members to provide any questions they wanted answering, and did they ever! Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to Smash, Stone Frog, Tornado, Silvers, Chipster and dennisim for providing the bulk of the questions, they basically wrote it for me. smile

Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say.

Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

  1. Draft fun 2.0 smile
Is Greenwood a serious option if United fail to sign Sancho ??

    • If they don’t get Sancho then yes. But we also don’t really know how much the Van de Beek signing will impact his game time. Personally I’m going to stay clear

      • Thanks

      • I don’t think VDB affects Greenwood really. They play completely different positions. Unless they change the system which is possible but they had great success with the front three. Sancho deal looks like it’s off. As things stand currently I think he’s still a great option. If they sign an attacking player I’d be more worried

  2. Thoughts on this lot. Won’t be captaining Salah for at least the first 3 weeks, so kind of makes sense to go without? How likely is Adams to start?

    • Yeah I’m not going for Salah/Mane either, they are expensive and there are great mids right below that price (12m)… I really want Bruno/KDB in the long run and with them Salah/Mane just becomes too heavy in the midfield. However, I might go with Salah/Mane in GW1 though and then downgrade to Bruno/KDB

    • Team looks solid by the way, but no City… Do you have a plan to get one of them or are you avoiding?

      • Pea to KDB

      • Thoughts on Adams Zed?

        • I do like him now, he looked very lively and played well together with Ings in the friendly against Swansea! Scored 1 and assisted 1, plus he played in a team (Soton played 4 halves of 30mins against Swansea, with 2 different teams) that was effectively the main team so he should be nailed from the start. Could be good value at 6m, good fixtures, plus he obviously ended last season well so it really bodes well for him!

        • Thanks good insight there. Guessing Long might be getting on a bit now (not looked it up) though Obafemi has never looked bad to me. Adams stats last 4 games weren’t far off Ings either

    • Yeah nice draft. Good coherent argument for leaving out Salah. Obvious counter-argument is that not having the second highest owned GW1 midfielder who is against a promoted team could go horribly wrong for you. But you already knew that.

      • Oh and I’ve had Adams in a couple of earlier drafts, but now he’s turned into Mitrovic. I think Che is likely to play.

    • Thanks for the great article and for the comments.

  3. Bl00dy love a GABO! Cheers guys!

  4. Which of these do people prefer:

    1) Doherty & Foden
    2) Justin & Ziyech

    • 2 for me

    • I can’t make up my mind on Foden. One minute I feel he’s great the next I worry about his price to mins. Ziyech depends if you have Werner

      • Yea I’m going round in circles with Foden. Here’s my current draft. With the idea of moving Son & Auba to Bruno & KdB. Although I can see me not wanting to shift Auba! I’ve just been playing with trying to squeeze Doherty in, and it seems logical to drop Ziyech to a 6.5 mid, but there’s not loads of options.

        • Ha yeah you have been moving in the same circles as me. Saliba not starting led me back to Doherty. Yeah ruled out shifting Auba to KDB after week one as did not think it made much sense

  5. Not withstanding their values, Son+Vardy or Alli+Werner? Cheers and have a profitable season :good:

    • Son & Vardy… but this is coming from someone who thinks Alli is utterly useless!

      • thanks banjo; i’m reading up on teams and seems Alli is expected to deliver. i had son and vardy in my earlier setup. i will revert soon after some more introspection.

    • I’ve had Werner in every draft I’ve done so far but I’m becoming more and more interested in vardy. Brendan Rodgers will want to attack those first 5 fixtures. I’m seriously trying to find the extra.5

      • my feelings exactly. leicester seem to be quite overlooked this season, at least FPL wise
