Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21
Guess who’s back, back again….
With the FPL season getting closer and closer to starting it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues: GP of Scottish fantasy fame, Rosco of FPL fame and… Cookie.
I asked for the site members to provide any questions they wanted answering, and did they ever! Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to Smash, Stone Frog, Tornado, Silvers, Chipster and dennisim for providing the bulk of the questions, they basically wrote it for me.
Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say.
Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

Please rate my team below ??
As Silvers says, it looks well balanced. Ryan and McCartney rotate well, apart from WK10, though I would prefer Antonio to Wood then he rotates well with Pereira, apart from WK3.
So i get Antonio now instead of Wood or on GW3 ??
Up to you if you need another player Wk1 as WHU play but BUR don’t
Just do what you want.
And maybe pop by to help out other managers.
Don’t fancy sneaking in Auba over KDB for those 2 fixtures?
Hey khaledhesham This team is solid even KDB sat on the bench have you any cash left & what are your plans for any of the Utd boys if you have any
Zero left in bank
I am planning for martial or rashford by GW2 or GW3
What’s your suggestions ??
khaledhesham You could switch St Max to Souchk then if Son doesn’t start we’ll swap son to Rash thk Unt will score goals this season
Am I missing something why would Son not start?
Start well if he’s not firing on all cylinders play Son 1-2 GW see how he goes
Question I have. Main teams people are getting excited by are…Liverpool, City, United and Chelsea and to a degree Spurs and Arsenal. How many players is too many within a team? (Without staying the obvious, 3).
Which players would you avoid playing together week in week out with a short term view? Ie Son and Kane? Greenwood, Martial and Fernandes?
3 is usually overkill, too many eggs etc. Although with a pair such as Kane and Son, if Spurs looked like they’d got their act together in defence you could genuinely make a case for adding a 3rd at the back. I’d usually only go for one mid or forward from each though. Although the start to this season may be a tad different with us missing some teams. If I went two it’d probably only be a place holder given the circumstances.
I think it’s what you feel good with. TAA, Mane and Salah for example, that’s 3 I’d be cool with. Would I feel the same with Martial, Rash and Greenwood, probably not. You would however probably be cool having 2 utd attackers.
Personally I’ll be taking a 2/3 from pool and 1/2 from the other top teams.
Agreed, Liverpool would be the perfect example of what I was trying to put across with Spurs. No idea why I didn’t just say Liverpool
It’s all relative on value really. Last year Martial, Bruno and Greenwood really worked out. Generally though I feel two attackers is usually enough two from one team. It’s unusual for me to have three
Cheers people!
Added headache……now Aguero is back in training.
A headache that can be quickly zapped by paracetamol.
I’m trying not to fret about City until GW3.
This is a great way to deal with it Kralin.
What I’d love to do is to take two FTs into GW3, and do a “mini wildcard” i.e. three transfers for a -4, picking the players who have impressed over two game weeks (or in the case of City and United, one).
Think I might stick to the rule of only getting Aguero/Jesus if the other is injured which seems to happen every year
That’s very sensible.
Other than Sterling or KdB the only other City player I’m looking at at the moment is Laporte – and that’s for a bit down the line.
Do we now believe Martínez is Ars first choice GK now ? Is anyone going with him.
Don’t believe anything until it’s officially denied, Silvers.
Unless I hear something unequivocal from Arsenal I’m not going to take the risk.
Think Schalke were linked today. Maybe it will become clearer
I’m not. Seems too risky. I’m a set and forget kind of guy.
Who are you setting and forgetting at the moment?
I’m currently on McCarthy and Nyland. The latter being a slightly paranoid pick in case the former doesn’t work out. Plus I suppose I may get a cheap thrill of seeing his price rise if people cotton on he’s playing. Then, needless to say, a rapid price fall as and when he becomes reserve keeper again.
In a profoundly uncertain world the stability of Ryan is appealing.
You guessed it. Ryan and Button. It’s the stability.
Guys right now, who are the best 4.0 m defenders and 4.5m mids,? Scraping the barrel again :big-lol:
We won’t know the best just yet but I have Mitchell in my side covering the 4m bracket and good old Stephens at 4.5.
If I go Ryan and Button I may replace Stephens with another exciting option, like Romeu, Romeu, wherefore art thou, just in case another B&HA player proves to be decent as a fantasy option.
For the bench or to play??????
I tend to put the cheap dreck on the bench (to start with). We’ve been lucky with 4m enablers the last couple of seasons.
Prob Mitchell and Reed now he’s signed for Fulham but they ain’t great this year
I’ve seen Branthwaite of Everton’s name appear once or twice as a possible 4.0 option.
Ben Johnston at West ham.
My tactic is to put a 4.0 def and a 4.5 mid on the bench (doesn’t matter who it is) and then wait for the day before the deadline to swap in whichever players are sounding like the best option/most hyped at that moment in time.
Thanks guys
