Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2021-22
The first edition of Gabo for this new season.
With FPL getting closer and closer to starting it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues: GP of Scottish fantasy fame, Rosco of FPL fame and Smash of Devil’s Advocate fame.
I asked for the site members to provide any questions they wanted answering, and did they ever! Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers (doubtful) to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to all who volunteered questions that were not sexually explicit.

Watford had 2 friendlies at the weekend where they essentially had an A and B team. I was surprised that Bachmann played for the B team.

Many thanks lads, a really interesting read as ever. I found myself contrary to a lot of the FPL answers there so it’s good to read the arguments and reasoning against my own initial thoughts.
Bit disappointed there was no Demi Moore though! We seem to have replaced Mito with a sensible version.

Hey lads, I am joining the ranks after a 4 year hiatus. Good to see the old guard is still around. As most, I am still tinkering with my squad… One thing that really puzzles me – I see no Villa defenders in any of the drafts. Surely they are worth a punt with those initial 3 fixtures, no? Easy switch from there on.
Was sold on double Liverpool defiance, but the price is just too high. Lots of value in defense this year.

@xaoc, I think if there was a 4.5 starter some of us probably would take a dip into the Villa defender market for those opening fixtures. Having said that, Villa finished last season with only one clean sheet in their last 12 games so even at 4.5 I would have to think about it. Because after GW4 they probably be a defender I wouldn’t want to use for many weeks and would hate to use a transfer on.

Welcome back. Just better value at 4.5 or 5.5 for me. Villa started to look a bit dodgy at the back towards the end of last season. There’s only so many times Martinez can save them

Sancho will always be a punt. He can hit the ground running, but he might also struggle to adapt. I will likely go for A after an early wildcard, after the situation with Kane is resolved.

Otieno, I am strongly considering option A myself.
It won’t take long for Sancho to adapt as he grew up at Watford and Man City youth academies and is familiar with EPL style of play.
There are some speculations that Spurs could go for for Jimenez as a Kane replacement. I doubt that will happen but if true, it will make Son a very attractive option.

If Spurs do go for Jimenez as a Kane replacement, he would be nailed on and a premium striker at a budget price of 7.5. A season keeper

I’m on Bruno and Son but it is tight cash wise. I’m not sure Sancho comes straight in and if he does he would not have had much training. I’m sure it won’t take too long but I want to wait because of that

I could do Bruno and Son but that would mean either losing Trent or playing him with two of four rotating 4.5 defenders

Four 4.5 defenders seems slightly risky to me. It’s almost as if you’re allowing your side to be inhabited by parasitic, below-par players – whose proliferation could easily attend the decay of the side itself.

Yeah I’ve been tempted by four 4.5s but it might be too much, it’s a bit like having three strikers at 7.5 there’s plenty of options but you might run into trouble. I’m on three 4.5s currently which feels right
