Live Match Chat FA Cup Special FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat FA Cup Special FPL News. This weekend sees the 5th round ties for the FA Cup, meaning that it is a FPL-free weekend. However, FPL-free does not signify FPL-irrelevant far from it. If you scan through the fixtures listed below you will see eight Premier League teams are left in the competition and bizarrely all eight have been kept apart in the draw. Now a closer scan of those fixtures will show that all eight top tier teams are firm favourites to win their tie – possibly Leicester being the less obvious. We have banged on about GW28 for weeks now – and this is when we get to find out exactly how disrupted GW28 will be as that is when the 6th round of the FA Cup will be played. At present only three fixtures are guaranteed for GW28 and if results go as expected in the Cup, then those three fixtures will be our sole game-week interest.
Therefore, keep a close eye on this weekend’s games to see how GW28 will pan out and also to keep an eye on potential transfers and injuries etc.
We talk about about things going as expected, but of course life doesn’t always turn out like that does it? Look at Brexit, President Trump, Arsenal losing to Bayern in the round of 16…….
….the FA Cup really can produce some upsets and maybe, just maybe some Premier League teams may get beaten by lower level opposition. Who would ever have predicted lowly Bournemouth humbling holders Man Utd in 1984, reigning league champions Arsenal losing to Wrexham who were bottom of the the old fourth division in 1992, non-league Sutton knocking out Coventry in 1989, Ronnie Radford’s famous goal leading Hereford to upsetting Newcastle or indeed Wimbledon beating the then mighty Liverpool on the biggest stage of all at Wembley in 1988?
See below this weekend’s fixtures and to the right of each fixture the GW28 match which is at risk if the Premier League team win this weekend.
FPL carnage! Love it.

Happy Saturday friends! Well, well, well little Lincoln. Of all the EPL games I wanted to see played in 28 BUR-LIV was not one of them.
So my question is: do Pool play in 26&28 now?

      Andy says:

They do now, they were always going to play 26 as Southampton are in the cup final against Man Utd, you should see that all of Man City, Man United’s, Arsenal and Southamptons have a blank fixture in your my team page on FPL.

Live from the John Smiths stadium Huddersfield smile

    HT 0-0

Both teams rested quite a few players.First 20 mins both teams cancelling the other out.City starting to stroke the ball about espevially down the right more as the half wore on with Aguero having a couple of decent chances.
Huddersfield themselves created a few chances mainly from pressing City in their own half and winning the ball off them with bravo making a couple of saves.
Huddersfields new striker signing looks and moves like Herman Munster and Navas still cant cross a ball for toffee !!

I’m watching the game on telly and I must say I am pleasantly surprised by Huddersfield today.

      • Brookyboy says:

Your not the first to say so HL.We’ve been a bit of a dark horse most of the season and its only now that people are sitting up and taking notice.Considering how many players we rested we more than matched City who i thought were very disappointing. If we had been slightly more incisive on the edge of city’s box we could have won that game !

Anyway bigger fish to fry, with Reading down here on Tuesday night with the promotion race really hotting up now !! smile

        • inittowinit says:

Found it odd that you’d put out such a changed team, especially neither of the two forwards, but as you say.

The keeper got rave reviews on the radio. Is he a kid?

        • Brookyboy says:

Expected a few changes and Wagner likes to rotate his players anyway.Kachunga and Wells came on on the hour and Izzy Brown ( on loan from Chelsea) after 70 mins.We really looked to be starting to get at City then but just lacked more positivity on the edge of their box and the final ball was quite often a let down.
When De Bruyne came on for City after 70 mins we all took a gulp but he didnt get a sniff !!
The keeper is the reserve, only 21 signed from Oldham last Summer.Looked very assured, just his kicking let him down.
Not sure what Pep will have made of that City performance though as they were poor and Aguero lacks sharpness.
