A bit of transfer news this morning as Stefen Defour is having a medical at Burnley. I liked Defour a few years ago so he could be a nice supply line for Gray or even a differential in himself. Would be more appealing if he was in a better team but still could be decent.

will be funny next week when they transferring them back out because Coutinho doesnt start and Negredo does nothing

That’s if the algorithm thing they use to predict price rises is right.Took a few weeks last season to get it right.

      • Andy says:

True Brooky, it’s always tricky predicting how they’ll manage the transfer system from year to year, I’d like them to be about the same paced as last year so we can leave them as late as possible, he’ll we might even get a few more team sheets before the GW locks with the Friday night football kicking off.

Should i bring in Coutinho before his price goes up for either Payet or Mkhitaryan?

Is there always this much panic after the first game of a season? I can’t remember.
A lot of people seem to be abandoning their plans they’ve had for a month based on a player not scoring in the first match.
    Madness!

It is madness but yeah it does happen.

Chasing last week’s points is always a huge favourite mate.

      • Milburn says:

Like I’ve always planned on shipping Gray out for Carroll after the first week but from what I saw of him in the highlights I might be more inclined to keep him, depending how the horse gets on tonight.
People selling Firmino for Coutinho because Liverpool scored 4 but he wasnt involved. If anything its a good thing that they’re playing that attacking and he’s going to be at the top of that for a lot of games this season.

      • photek says:

        GP,
“chasing last weeks points is always a huge favourite”
I couldn’t said it any better!

Just seen 26,000 people have wildcarded already SMH. Probably better off just starting a new team from week 2.

        • Rosco77 says:

You know things are bad when you’re Wildcarding after GW 1!! I must admit I was kicking myself for going Firming over Coutinho but after the initial thoughts of switching i remembered making similar mistakes a lot last season and it never paid off. Last year being my first in FPL i had a lot to learn, I’m now obviously old and wise ( GP’s wise words helped too!) Chasing last weeks points is never a wise gameplan!
Were you there on Saturday? I was furious when I left the ground… had a beer…calmed down. Seems like every team is treating playing us like a cup final, their players certainly seem a lot more up for it than ours. Rafa has to take some blame too as his team selection and tactics seemed way off the mark. Im off on holiday on wednesday so i’ll miss the next 2 home games and I won’t be losing any sleep over that!

        • Brookyboy says:

It’s the championship Rosco,it’s a tough league now and you have to be prepared for the fight.A lot of hungry players in that league. As for Huddersfield they have brought a lot of players in over the summer and the manager,(Wagner),who is a mate of Klopp by the way,has created a great team spirit.I saw the goals on the highlights, the analysts talked about how your mids were lazy chasing back. You were lucky with the penalty aswell.

        • Milburn says:

Yeah I was there mate; it’s not going smoothly at all.
I think the main problem is that most teams that play us this season will sit back deep and defend. We’ve got a lot of pace up front but if theres no space to run into behind then you’re knackerd. Don’t seem to have a plan B at the minute and the team needs to gel. Hopefully when Mitro’s back (not the 1 off here ha) we’ll have another dynamic.

    • 256.3

There was far more panic last season, caused by defenders scoring goals and some clear winners up front.
If you look at the initial purchases there is not a lot of sense in many choices, the % ownership of Kante & Paredes was ridiculous.
For transfers they just go for whoever got decent points this gw, no regard for history or potential.

WC gw1 is not always madness it been done in the past by top 10 managers.
You do a special team on bumper fixtures, and then also reap the rewards of the panics.
Of course you have to not have chosen Leicester this time for a start.

Does anybody have info on Lloris’ injury? Wondering whether to transfer him out if it’s serious or just bench him for a week or two.

    constantine says:

I think I’m going to play 3-5-2 for a while with Gray as my second Striker. I know that i may be making mistake by not keeping Ibra in the tram but TBH i didnt find him that “active” on the field. he sure has the potential to score if given a chance but, I’ll spread that amount into the MF. what say?
