Live Match Chat Gameweek 28 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 28 FPL News: Or at least what there is left of it! If ever there was a definition of a ‘blank’ game-week then maybe this is it. There are just 4 games this week. And just two of the current top seven feature. That’s not to say that the weekend if irrelevant of course, as the rubbish teams can still score you some points, but in all honesty if you can still get excited about this lot then we doff our caps to you as a hardcore fantasy manager. As for the action itself then there are three games at 3pm on Saturday – Bournemouth will be looking to turn their Old Trafford resilience into something more tangible, and arrest their current slide, with what would be their first victory in 2017 as they welcome West Ham. With Man Utd winning the Milk Cup last week 7th place now represents a chance to qualify for the Europa thing and the two prime candidates face off this week to see who wants it least. Actually Pulis would probably see it as a feather in his cap whereas Koeman is probably more aware of it’s pitfalls. Now we aren’t suggesting that Everton would ever throw a game… but they probably should! The third game is a relegation battle as Hull face Swansea. Defeat for Hull won’t necessarily seal their fate but it will go a long way to doing so. We close out on Sunday with just the one fixture which sees Liverpool hosting Burnley. The visitors don’t often visit anywhere well. We don’t mean that they turn up late, get drunk and are surly and rude. Quite the contrary, in fact. They turn up on time, are polite and respectful and usually bend over obligingly when asked. If the real Liverpool turn up then they may well fill their boots in this one.

Saturday 11th March
3:00pm
Bournemouth vs West Ham
Everton vs West Brom
Hull vs Swansea

Sunday 12th March
4:00pm
Liverpool vs Burnley

As an added bonus, and as the main reason why there are so few PL games this weekend, the FA Cup Quarter Finals take place this weekend and may be worth keeping an eye on as they will dictate further DGW scenarios depending on who progresses. Just so that you are aware, they look like this –

Saturday 11th March
12:15pm
Middlesbrough vs Man City

5:30pm
Arsenal vs Lincoln

Sunday 12th March
2:00pm
Spurs vs Millwall

Monday 13th March
7:45pm
Chelsea vs Man United

Here I was with 90 pts and an OR #1297 for the first week of FMLS thinking this was a great result only to check the FF247 League and find out there are 93 of us that did better! #competitive

How am I looking for GW29?
    Do I need Costa?
Tempted for Pedro but would mean ditching Eriksen or Mane.

Captain..We have almost the same from line-up. Even I’m also thinking for getting Costa in, but for who is a question. I’m kind of leaning towards Aguero to be sacrificed, but that would depend on the pressers late this week. We might see some news on Jesus returning, and If Kun’s not a sure starter, i would do him to Costa without a second thought. Llorente can stay for one more week as they face B’mouth next week.

      • captain-kingpin says:

Good call. Any doubt over Aguero’s place and he’s out for me!
I now find myself having to chose between Lanzini and Llorente :/

    Morning chaps,

Any comments on this WC team (already active, as I had to ditch a few players)? I am already planning for the double GWs, hence the 3 Saints cheapos, plus stocking up on Man U defense and Arsenal cover, as I have the ‘Bench Boost’ chip waiting. Later on I am thinking Mane > Wally (if he puts in a performance) and bringing in an Arsenal defensive cover for the DWGs.

Overall a disappointing season, especially after the great start (was in top 2k for some weeks), but was too late to bring a Spurs cover in and relied too long on Kun to show up. So I have some catching up to do in my mini leagues.

    Anyway… all advises are welcome.

I’d like to change your whole backline if on a Wildcard. I’d fill the def with Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Utd players. Romeu can go, even if he has a potential DGW. Pedro has looked good recently but as you already have Costa, I’d suggest someone like Mkhitariyan at his place. May be you can go with Walcott in place of Sanchez and save those funds for getting Ibra later?

      • xaoc says:

I still have Luiz, who I plan to transfer out for Valencia. Unfortunately I cannot afford both now or it needs to be at the expense of a mid. The thing with the MU backline is that they are always subject to rotation. De Gea and Valencia are all the certain ones and I need to keep the third Man U spot for Ibra. I do not see Chelsea holding more clean sheets in the coming GWs than MU. I also have an Everton cover – Williams and do not want to double up. Spurs backline is out of budget for now, considering the midfield.

The plan is to phase out Mane (Wally, Mata, Micky) at the right time and upgrade Pieters to a premium defender (Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal). Not for this GW though.

Who would you take instead of Romeu in the same price bracket? Normally he would not play and I only keep him for this one Bench Boost week. I plan to play a 3-4-3.

        • constantine says:

Xaoc, can’t say much on the BB right now as nit sure when the next DGW is going to be. But, If on a WC, i’ll like to fill my squad with all the probable DGW players ( chelsea, spurs, city, arsenal, utd, etc.) esp the ones that have atleast two DGWs(Utd, Arsenal). Soton players don’t seem too attractive barring Gabby, Tadic and a punt on Bertrand.

        • captain-kingpin says:

Tom Carroll for Romeu. Cheaper and plays smile
          Or Fraser from Bournemouth.

Hi Xaoc, good effort on the wc but i agree with Constantine that the backline needs some work.I’d ditch Mane for Siggy and pump that money in to your defence. Not sure you need Pedro as you have Costa,so maybe switch him to City cover ? Grant to Pickford saves some pennies and Sunderland will have a dgw,Pieters to a middlesborough defender for the same reason ? Not sure you need De gea as you have Valencia ? Maybe Robles and swap Williams out ?

      • xaoc says:

Thanks guys, I will give it a bit more thought. If I keep Luiz and Williams, which other team would you choose as a third premium defender from then – Spurs, Man U… someone else? Grant to Pickford was already considered, but I did not go for it, as these 0,2 m do not give me much options – only Pieters to P. Jones, but want to see if he keeps his place or Baily will come in instead.

        • Brookyboy says:

I’d rather have Coleman than williams or Luiz and i’d keep Valencia if poss.I’ve had a tinker around with a potential wc team and this is what ive come up with so far.Not sure on my 4th mid but i have some cash in bank to switch him to City mid and Cameron is just a filler.

        • Brookyboy says:

Pedro could become Hazard and Costa could be Deeney which frees up cash but not sure about that !!

        P.S. Second draft

        • xaoc says:

Thanks for sharing Broookyboy. De Roon is actually a good idea. Only 0,1 m less compared to Romeu, but they will come in handy when I will need to get back Ibra for Costa. This is why I am saving some funds from Williams < Coleman. No concerns about the playing time of Cameron? I think Stephens is a safer bet, but then you do not want to double up on Saints, considering you already have Yoshida. In any case, it seems as min 8 of our starting 11 will match.

        • Brookyboy says:

Cameron played regularly till injury and plays oop in midfield, but as I say he is a filler and could be a cheap Middlesbrough defender for their upcoming Dgw.Not sure how nailed Stephens is but he could be a cheaper alternative to Yoshi.I’d lose De gea to a cheaper keeper.
