Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News: And there it was gone! 37 weeks have flashed before your eyes once more. And 38 will do the same as well because all 10 games happen on the same day at the same time. It always seems a bit cruel to have all your FPL hopes and expectations finally decided for you in such a swift fashion. Especially since we’ve all agonised over relatively minor points in game-weeks which have sometimes dragged on for as much as 7 days, as GW37 did. But that’s the way it is. Strap yourself in for a smidgen over 90 minutes. It’ll be agony or ecstasy for many. We hope it works out for you all. It wont. Not for everyone anyway. If it does then feel free to share and celebrate your success. If it doesn’t then know you have friends to share that with too. We’ve all been there and seen both sides of the coin. In a nutshell that is what has made this community great over the years, there’s a mutual understanding and respect and an empathy for whichever way it works out.

As the season comes to a close we would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Live Match Chat discussion throughout the campaign. You make each match day come alive with every comment. It’s been a pleasure to watch each game-week unfold from the eyes of dedicated FPL players but also just football fans in general. The discussions that arise can range from the sublime to the ridiculous but are always entertaining regardless!

Unfortunately we don’t have any World Cup or Euros to entertain and keep us busy over the summer but fear not as we will be staying ‘relatively’ active. We will forgive you if you need a break of course but we have a good number of articles in the pipeline already. We have a couple of interviews lined up and then we plan to gear up for next season with some articles featuring the promoted teams as we always do. And if you are playing MLS then Guy will of course be publishing his tips on that as normal every week. However you choose to spend your FPL free summer we wish you all the best, we thank you for spending the season with us and we hope to see you again in August to begin the merry go round all over again!

    Hi all,
I can only repeat: huge thanks to the regulars of this site for the great analyses and advice given all year long.

I personally end up at rank 28k OR, a bit of a disappointment because I was around 20k for boxing day, and by then I hoped to top my rank 3k of the previous year.
But FPL is also a school of humility, and when you see many educated choices resulting in poor points returns, you realize that your previous successful choices were not due to pure class, but also to a bit of luck! smile

On that note, I found this year more challenging than 2015-16, because little players were seasons holder. Last year we had Vardy, Mahrez, Kun, Sanchez, Kane performing all year long, if I remember correctly.
This year, no big hitter was really consistent, except maybe for Sanchez. Kun and Ibra started excellently but then had difficulties. The Spurs stars did little until Chrismas, to turn into points machines afterwards. The Pool mids went the other way around. And the points in Chelsea were so well spread that there was no real must have all season long. Costa and Alonso probably hold that spot until january, but they were less productive FPL-wise then.
Does anybody shares my feeling? Or was I simply less good this year 😉

Anyway, thanks again very much for your impressive and passionnate work. And see you in a couple of months!

Finished second in my ML. Wasn’t able to catch the leader but did make up a lot of ground in the last gws. 103 (-8) this week put me at 209k overall. Which is disappointing since I didn’t improve on last year’s 150k rank. Thanks to all the contributors for the brilliant articles and tips!

    Well here’s how I finished.

Thanks to each of you who ever cast an eye on my line-up or suggested a transfer.

At 259,516 I was just outside my target but not by too far so I’m content tonight.

    And breathe …..
