New FPL Transfers Everton Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramírez and Davy Klaassen
Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Everton Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramírez and Davy Klaassen. This has been an unusual window for Everton – usually they are frustrated spectators as their rivals spend away and buy a whole range of talent before the Toffees fudge around on deadline day, sneak in a deal or two – or if they’re really lucky, cash in on Marouane Fellaini at the 11th hour. This season they have dealt big and they have dealt early – out have gone Lukaku, Deulofeu and Kone and in so far have come Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramírez and Davy Klaassen. This article will concentrate on the latter three, the attacking side of things. If you haven’t realised it already then by the time you have read both Everton articles it will be drilled into your memory – Everton’s first few fixtures are nothing short of horrendous – however they change for the better from game-week 6, which not only gives the new players a chance to settle in but gives us managers the opportunity to see how they fit into Ronald Koeman’s plans and how each player is utilised into the Everton team.

[/three_fifth]The Prodigal Son returns. What he has lost on top he has put on round the waist, but he returns older, richer, maybe not wiser, but hey no-one is perfect. Wazza is home. Back to his roots, to his beloved Gwladys Street. Same would say back to his retirement home with his slippers and smoking jacket, but maybe we are being a touch hasty. The pace may not be what it was, but the technique is still there as is the passing ability and the eye for goal. That’s the niceties out of the way, let’s get our teeth into what Rooney brings to Everton. Presumably Koeman will play Wazza in the no.10 role for he is not really needed in midfield and hasn’t the pace to play as the central striker up top. Playing just behind Sandro should suit Wazza perfectly – it will give him the chance to display his creative talent, play the killer ball through to Sandro, bring others into the game and get on the end of attacks. Koeman believes the signing of Rooney shows a statement of intent to Everton’s Premier League rivals and that Rooney’s experience of winning trophies is vital as the club look to take the next step of competing for silverware. Interestingly the manager says he thinks Wazza will bring productivity to the team and that his marquee signing is able to play ‘number 10 behind the striker, in a free role from the left or right, or the number nine.’ Much of course will depend on Wazza’S fitness but from a FPL point of view, his price of 7.5mln brings Man United’s and England’s top scorer into the cheap(ish) third forward range and will undoubtedly find himself in many manager’s thoughts. Personally, and I would extend this view to Sandro and Klaasen too, I’d wait and watch Everton’s first few tricky fixtures – they play Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Man United all in the first 5 game-weeks – and see how the new lads settle in. From GW6, the Toffees’ fixtures take a turn for the better and that may well be the time to jump on Rooney, or one of his team-mates.

[/three_fifth]The signing of Sandro surprised many, but after years of celebrating or cursing Big Rom, Evertonians now have the chance to turn their affections or criticism to Big Ram. Sandro has big shoes to fill, especially if social media is to be believed, but the reports of Sandro are generally good. The striker was signed from Malaga for a fee believed to be somewhere between €6-10mln, depending on who you believe – great business if it works. Sandro scored 14 goals in 30 appearances for Malaga in La Liga last season – he also assisted three goals in the league. He had the just one season at Malaga after joining in July 2016 from Barcelona – his time at the Nou Camp was generally cut short by injury and the fact that he was competing with Messi, Neymar & Suarez for a starting spot – Sandro may be good, but he ain’t that good! The Barca scout who discovered Sandro as a 12 year old playing in the Canary Islands says of the striker, ‘He had a natural gift for off-the-ball movement and the ability to play with both feet, something he still has today. He had a lot of confidence in himself and constantly demanded the ball, so he stood out even when he was a 12-year-old playing with 14-year-olds. He was superior to the rest and his scoring record was unprecedented in the Canary Islands’. Sandro is known predominantly for his pace and shooting with his right foot, but can also be useful in the air and has also been used off the wing. It’ll be interesting to see how he links up with Rooney and indeed Everton’s other creative players and watching those first five game-weeks will allow him to settle in and give us a chance to see if he can be a FPL option.

[/three_fifth]Davy, Davy Klaassen, king of the wild frontier. Showing my age there, most of you probably don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. No change there! So Koeman has raided his home country for a midfield general, a Dutch international with 14 caps, young Klaassen is just 24 years old and has joined the Toffees from Ajax for a fee of around £24mln. Now this boy has real promise – Davy joined the Ajax academy at 11 and stood out as he rose through the youth system to captain the U19s to the league title in May 2012. By then he had already made his debut for the first team and emulated the likes of Cruyff, Kluivert and van Basten by scoring on his Ajax debut. Klaassen was handed the ideal chance to prove himself when Christian Eriksen left for Spurs in 2013 and was immediately compared to Dennis Bergkamp. Klaassen scored 14 goals and contributed 9 assists in 33 matches for Ajax last season and played in the final of the Europa Cup vs Man United. He is without doubt an exciting talent if he settles into Premier League life – he will no doubt get less time on the ball than in Holland, but he has the skill and ability to conquer that. Dutch imports have been a mixed bag when they have moved to England – for every Bergkamp there is a Ryan Babel, for every Jaap Stam a Marco Boogers. But my own thinking is that this guy will do well and I’ll close with the words of Ajax and Dutch King himself, Cruyff, ‘You must have strong positioning, ability to control the ball at speed and also have the technique to deal with the speed of it. Xavi, Toni Kroos and Davy Klaassen can do it. All three have perfect anticipation and they can play it both left and right excellently. You watch, when Klaassen plays from that position for Ajax, the tempo increases immediately. Moreover, he rarely loses possession’ – praise indeed. Stick this guy on your watchlist and set your alarm for GW6 for those that snooze, will lose.

The Fixture Tracker…
Gayle goal, De Jong assist. Bit awkward if De Jong has a good pre season… hes not even in the game!
Hanley neither
Gayle 2 goals… BUY BUY BUY. No? Just me?
I’m with you bonny lad!!
#RideOrDie 😉
I am probably with you, his scoring record was very good last season and his goal scoring rate when he was in the premier before is not too shabby, decent rate for a great price, think he might be good value.
I keep wanting to put Rooney in but Gayle has always scored goals when he plays
Milburn is Gayle on pens as well when Ritchie is on the pitch
Sorry mate been watching the McGregor conference .
Gayle was originally then missed 1 but scored with the rebound. Ever since then Rithcie has the duty bar when neither were on the pitch and Mitro was given responsibility
How was it. Need to catch up on that probably tomorrow. It’s been so entertaining so far. Ok cheers so looks like it’s Ritchie on pens then
Yeah I’d say so mate. Wasn’t up there with Toronto but Conor definitely got the better of him which was emphasised with the home crowd
Hey guys, have a look through and see if you have any doubts or feel like any of these are just not right. This year I have decided to change up the two last categories a bit.
We still have the likely penalty takers first as always, easily the most important category. In second we have combined all the set pieces, so basically the second column is all takers of free kicks, Indirect and corners. I tried to put the most likely direct free kick taker first. The new addition is the third category. It is now the people I have seen through statistics or the eye test that I feel is most likely to get on the end of a set piece once is taken. The reason I made this slight variation is because I noticed the goals from direct free kicks were 26 on average for the last 3 seasons. The most by one guy scored last season was 3 (Coutinho) then there were 4 guys with 2 a piece and the rest were just one. However when you start looking through goals scored from set pieces perhaps targeting the guy who the taker is aiming for is just as worthwhile if not more. Just look through the stats last season and you notice defenders and any others who go after it who scored just as much if not more than Coutinho and gang on set pieces.
This is great should be in a special place on the site
+1 or on a file so you can email it to me 😉
It’s the new official Set Piece Takers list which will be linked once it’s finalised. Mito is pre-empting any queries / inaccuracies basically to get it ironed out before release.
It’s a hot potato this one as it always gets criticised regardless. Usually on twitter by some moron who can’t actually say why but decides to anyway
Mito I will read this tomorrow when I can see looks good though 😉
When I can see :hippo: Love you Silvers, so honest
I’ve j
I’ll tell you what my phone has lost it spooky
Can you put your Mrs on instead?!
No I can’t well maybe I could I’m going to the phone shop tomorrow & playing holly hell second iPhone I’ve had that does what it whats 😉
Have a feeling they’ll set a precedent here and replace the human attached to the phone as opposed to the phone
:big-lol:
Mito there is a strong chance that Ince will be on penalties now for Hudds and think Hefele will lose his place to the new signing Jorgensen (Zanka).
Thanks Brooky, so Ince, Mooy and Lowe on pens.
How about FKs and Indirects is that ok?
On the last part, who would you say are the 3 most likely to get on the end of a set piece?
The promoted teams were much tougher to get an idea on.
As a Town fan I’m still trying to get an idea on who will be doing what with 6 new signings !! Pre-season will tell us a lot.Pretty sure Ince will be on most set pieces including corners.Having watched a vid of Depoitre I’d include him on “Most likely to get on the end of a set piece” He is 6ft 3 and great in the air.Just depends whether Wagner decides to start him or Mounie.
Oh and yes to the pens bit mate.
Many thanks Brooky, will make the change now.
Brilliant work on that one? Should make it something like a pinned tweet at top of sure for a few weeks so it doesn’t get lost
We will mate, Just put out there so members who are more in tuned with their teams could guide me if they saw something wrong. Once we finalise it this weekend it will be under the set pieces tab.
It’ll be Hot Commented, linked properly as usual and then tweeted – as soon as everyone has had an input, as per Brooky above.
I´ll say thank you here also Mito (said it on twitter before), very useful
No problem mate, is not like I had a choice, Init works us to the brink of exhaustion. 😉
Just followed you on twitter, always try and follow back people from the site.
Any suggestions on this first draft.
Hoping to have more time this season to put into my team.
This is very strong one of the best I have seen I think
Hey Smash my phone has a mind of its own I will own 2 att City players is a must with there fixtures 😉
I really think they will score a lot of goals next season Silvers. Just trying to work out who’s going to play will be tough
Smash I’m going with KDB & Jesus
Silvers
Thinking of KDB & Kun
Can’t argue with those 2 at all
I like this team a lot Mitro. Not convinced by Ake though
Hey Mitro I thk you have to have Luk to start that’s why I have Jesus I like the Gyle pic I’ve gone with J Rod try & fit a Swa def with Ake first 8 Gw rotate perfectly good team 😉
Silver
It’s a valid point, just think Kun is the better player and in the better team!
Brave to go without Lukaku from week 1. Reckon he is a must have
Evening all
How’s the tinkering going?
Like I need a few more million
It’s hard work! Spent a couple of hours trying to get in Kane or Sanchez and I’m really struggling to have a balanced team.
Really like the team I’ve got at the minute but we will see what happens 😉
I love Sanchez but he seems too much as he won’t be playing up front this year and off the left. He seemed to be dropping a bit deeper towards the end as well last year
so far i´ve come up at least 1 million short, so more tinkering is needed
This is were im at now, no player is safe at moment 😛
DAMN! That’s nice!
Hey guys
Thx for the article Cookie
Been tinkering last 2 days
How’s this ?
Hey Big not sure about this team fixtures City Utd Sou WBA Che Spurs all good game time Stirling not sure Your two front players can score against anyone but Alli at 9.5 saves cash on Kane & got as many points last season
Not sure when I stand back I like this team maybe it’s just a good team 😉
I like this team. However I’d change Sterling, Zaha and of course Randolph needs to go. Hart looks like he’s coming in
Consider Foster and Myhill for 9.5 and no selection headaches. Definitely lose Randolph
Sorry, meant 8.5
