Line-ups, scorers and assisters are all listed for the 20 FPL sides if they have played this weekend. The Gallant Pioneer has done a great job of posting other teams results in his last article’s comments section so check those out too!…

HULL
One team have already played competitively this season and that is Hull City.

Long (Jelavic 86)
The HCT (Hull City Tigers anyone?) No . . . oh well, ‘Hull’ then, begun their first ever European campaign last night in Slovakia where they secured a 0-0 draw with Trencin. The second leg of this is Thursday 7th followed by a friendly in Stuttgart on the Sunday (10th). Thereafter if they qualify next week, they face the final play-off round for the Europa League on Thursday 21st and 28th August – just as the Premier League campaign is beginning to take off. Beware rotation in the Hull ranks.
[divider_1px]
So there you have it – up to date on all pre-season (and relevant European) matters so what have we learned?
HOT:
Stevan Jovetic
The Manchester City striker has had a great pre-season so far scoring four goals in his last two matches against Milan and Liverpool. Those Edin Dzeko supporters who were rubbing their hands excitedly after Alvaro Negredo’s injury will now be wringing their hands nervously at the form of the Montenegrin. The likliehood is that rotation will occur to partner Sergio Aguero in attack for Manuel Pellegrini’s charges. It really is so difficult to second guess the Chilean. Interestingly though Dzeko and Jovetic were paired together in the Liverpool match but I don’t see Aguero NOT playing or City going for three strikers.
So, who will start in attack when the Sky Blues open up at Newcastle on the opening weekend? Ask me a question on geography!
Southampton
Amidst the frenzy of activity at Southampton this summer due to the mass exodus of playing staff, it sort of has gone unnoticed that they have now played five pre-season matches and until 15 minutes from the end of last night’s win at Brighton, they had not concede one single goal, winning all those matches.
It bodes well for the Saints defence going into the season and it may be the same for our fantasy teams. You can pick up Jose Fonte, Ryan Bertrand or Nathaniel Clyne as probable first choices for Ronald Koeman. More interestingly, providing they don’t sign further defensive reinforcements, there may be decent value in Maya Yoshida (4.5) or Jos Hoiveld (4.0).
My following of all of Southampton’s matches via club reporters and twitter have shown me that Nathaniel Clyne is being involved regularly in the offensive half of the field and with Chambers now off to the Emirates, he will be my investment in the Saints backline.
Additionally, for those investing in some of Southampton’s new attacking talent, both Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic have scored for their new clubs already and also laid on a few goals between them.
NOT
Vito Mannone
This may well all be part of Gus Poyet’s grand plan but Vito Mannone has played just 45 minutes of Sunderland’s first match (against Darlington) and then 60 minutes versus Carlisle United. Those were the club’s first two pre-season matches and in the preceding three, he has not seen a minute of action with Costel Pantillimon and the youth goalkeepers preferred. It has been revealed at the time of writing this article, that he is also not involved in tonight’s friendly against Vitoria Setubal, reportedly through illness. Therefore we only have two Sunderland pre-season matches to come so we’ll see if this changes but his current absence raises some issues for some fantasy managers.
The good news for prospective fantasy owners is that you can have his likely replacement, the huge Romanian Pantillimon, for exactly the same outlay of cash so this shouldn’t disrupt the rest of your fantasy team plans in any way.

NIN,
Sometimes the answer is staring you in the face . . . .
. . . needless to say, he’s in mine at 5.5.
GP – Looks like he’s the way to go. I’m still not happy about it though. Hhaha.
Same. He looked below average in Holland past season.
It’s the Bardsley effect.
Bryan.
I know I would work a lot harder if my employer brought Bardsley in next to me.
Haha, all hail the Bardsley. Bryan, who you looking at for (c) in MLS this week? Think i might go with Keane.
NIN, for your sake, I hope you’re asking me so that you can do the opposite!
I’ve narrowed it down to Donovan, Higuain or Dempsey. I need to do a bit more research, but I’m sure I’ll choose the wrong one again.
I’m on Valeri at the moment.
James, this is a family website!
I think.
Ohh damn, you’ve caught me cheating on BWP here, how awkward…
…ah well, I guess even the kids would’ve had to find out eventually.
Ha! Hey, I’d be more than happy for you to sit on BWP. (Eww, that… sorry…) He’s been the bane of my MLS season, scoring tons for everyone else while I stubbornly avoid him.
Valeri is probably the right (c) choice this week. If I had him, I’d definitely captain him. Make of that what you will!
#TheCurse
#OopsForgotHashtagsDontWorkHere
I jumped on him (not *quite* literally) midway through his long streak, which seemed pretty late, but ultimately not too late.
What we need this season is a 24/7 fully trained and equipped team that can predict, identify and highlight the major bandwagons/season-stars before it’s too late.
I’d volunteer but last season proved I’m shit at spotting them.

EVERTON
Everton 1-3 Celta Vigo
6 August 2014
GOAL:

Howard (Joel 45)
Hibbert (Duffy 45), Distin, Stones, Baines (Browning 45)
Barry (Gibson 45), McCarthy
McGeady, Osman (Besic 45), Barkley
Naismith
Still no Mirallas or Lukaku? Surely we’ll not be seeing them come GW 1 now.
Surely people will drop Baines considering Everton’s fixtures and their terrible pre-season.
Hi Raz they have got 3 winnable games & a draw in first 6 games it isn’t as bad as people think
Ummm, 3 winnable games and a draw? Dude, people are actually considering to pay 7m for Baines even though they have to face Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in their first 6 games. I’d spend that money on a premium Chelsea/United defender instead (and if you do that you still have more cash to spend).
Andy,
I would expect them to play on Saturday in their last friendly in Germany and if they do, I think they will be OK for the Leicester game.
Martinez I believe, is just separately managing these two after their World Cup travel.
Well worth looking out for, cheers for the update GP and Jeet

Giacherinni (Gomez 37), Johnson (Fletcher 66), Larsson
Wickham
Cheers GP, interesting news on Fletcher that, not starting but also scoring when he came on. Do you think that’s how they’ll likely like up to begin with?
Init,
From what I can gather, when Fletcher came on tonight he and Wickham played as a standard front two. The friendly before tonight they had 60 minutes up front together and played the full 90 the game before that, sadly neither of these two games harvested any of the seven goals they have scored between them
Giacherinni went off with an injury tonight on 37 mins. Mannone played 90.
*the FIVE goals they have between them*
Cheers GP, one to monitor for sure.
Snodgrass assist below as well, reckon we’ll be seeing that a lot this season!

Tekno,
Must have missed that from my following of the game in text reports.
Thank you. Happy to stand corrected.
Van Ginkel’s days are obviously over. He should leave Chelsea while he can. How was Hazard by the way? And ummm thingy,,, the Spanish guy… ex-Gooner.
