Pre-season Hub for the 2017/18 FPL season
Hello and welcome to the Pre Season Hub for the 2017/18 season.
For those both old and new to the site this is an article which aims to bring to you in one convenient place, all the vital news from each of the twenty Premier League clubs’ friendly matches this summer. The ultimate aim is to build up a portfolio of information to help you in selecting your opening FPL squad when the game re-opens week commencing 10th July (next week)!
The hub is very much a living document which I personally will keep up to date as the matches take place. I encourage you guys to help out with any line-ups, goal scoring or assist information. We also like to see general notes being left here if you happened to witness on screen, or better still, in person, any particular player performance, style etc. Basically anything you deem FPL worthy.
How to use…
The whole article is intrinsically linked to the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.
The purpose of this is so that –
1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…
2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.
So with the first pre-season friendlies involving FPL relevant teams taking place this Saturday the 8th with Watford beginning their schedule, please find below the fixtures…
(NB: At this stage there will still be pre-season matches being announced and I will endeavour to update these as we go along. Southampton for instance only have one friendly scheduled so far but this can be excused by their new manager only just arriving – expect further announcements soon).

The Fixture Tracker…
Ok guys I’ve missed u lot and I feel the tingle of fpl upon us… Oh err !
Here’s my slightly biased top 6 this season.
Liverpool (it’s been sooo long since those heady King kenny days)
Man Utd (mourinho WILL deliver the title, but not this year)
Arsenal (Wengers last season)
Chelsea (Conte sacked by Xmas )
Man City (Even Jesus won’t save these from slipping into the Europa league)
Everton (with Rooney on the bench Koeman takes over from Conte at Chelsea)
Have you spent the summer drinking???
I think so and worse than just that, think he has been doing it with Silvers.
Stop picking on people you, you have a TDF update to write. So that I can pick on people
Ok Big I’ll have a go at this
City because pep will get a defence.
The Pool well because I’m a closet Liverpool fan.
Ars they have a proper fwd.
Spurs how many players in one team can score goals.
Chelsea well they have Kante.
ManU 6th & they are lucky to be there as I’m a Leeds fan.
😉
Shit I forgot about Spurs ..doh
Was about to say that! I think they’d be serious contenders this time, if only for the stadium situation. That’s come at the worst possible time really because they were looking primed. If they can overcome that then they’ll be right up there. Probably the most exciting attacking I saw last season and the defence is solid as. Probably the one team who really don’t need many if any new signings too, which always helps as there’s no getting to know you period needed.
Agreed Init. I’d back Spurs to win it had they been staying at the lane.
Arsenal
Chelsea
City
Pool
Utd
Everton
Yes, i am drunk but I have a good feeling this year…. 😉
Drunk? Is that all??
Are we a bit byest there Mitro I really thk City will take it this yr 😉
If we keep alexis and get in Lemar I think we will have one of best attacking line ups in the league!! City still ain’t got a defence….
City (if Kompany stays fit)
Chelsea
Spurs
Arsenal
Liverpool
United
But it is harder than ever to predict
I fancy that won’t be far wrong, but yeah as you say. Depends what other business gets done yet too. As Mito said City ain’t got a defence together yet but I’d fancy they will at some point.
They don’t even have any full backs yet and they still have Stones but that will be addressed
They should price Stones at 4.0 and the rest of the City defence at 6.0, just for the giggles. Knowing he won’t play half the time and when he does he’ll cost the rest a CS.
The first 3.5 million defender lol
Hi all – long time no speak! Things got busy at the back end of last season and I totally neglected my team. Looking forward to the next month of deliberations, just hope they release the game some time soon haha
Hey AT, how are you? Shame about last season there eh but it happens. Take it you’re going to give it a good go again though?
Hi AT
Hopefully tomorrow.
Good to see you on here again AT 😉
Hi Init. Things have been good, aside from fantasy. Very happy to see the back of that season! How’s things at your end?
Hi GP. I hope so too – keen to see all the prices. Hope all is well.
Hi Silvers – good to be back!
All good thanks AT. Enjoyed the summer ‘off’ playing the U21 Euros and now somehow playing fantasy Tour de France! Enjoying that one so much I’ve just watched the highlights of the rest day, seriously!!!
To be fair you would have watched that regardless of any fantasy involvement!
Hello strangers… how’s everyone’s summer been? I’ve managed to book a wedding, a honeymoon and a stag do, so with all that out the way I can think fpl again!
Really looking forward to getting cracking on the first of thousands of iterations before GW1. I’m thinking of valuing defence a bit higher this year, with Apzi/Alonso & Valencia high on my shopping list. Also can’t decide whether Kun is required. I’m thinking Jesus. And Lukaku will be hard to avoid. Spurs worry me. Although Alli could be good value.
And what’s all the Christmas Island stuff I’m reading about on twitter?
Welcome back Banjo. So where are we heading on the stag?
Going big Kop! Somehow 9 mates have got the green light from the Mrs to do Boracay (a piss up island in the Philippines). I’m worried my stripper will have a bigger wang than me 😉
The Philippines? Oh you’re fcked!! Literally
Make sure you take protection Banjo!
Like a gun
Cheers guys! It’s always a worry when the protection could be for the stripper and not me. A gun may just be in order!
Yeah, that way you have two guns pointing at her/him and they only have one pointing at you.
Welcome back Banjo! And the honeymoon is where? I don’t for one second believe you had a single thing to do with booking the wedding!
Thanks Init. We’re actually pissing off to Sri Lanka for the wedding, followed by honeymoon in the Maldives – and putting on a piss up at the local working mans club for everyone on our return! Of course I had nothing to do with choosing any of that (apart from the working mans club), but I am quite happy about wearing shorts n flip flops over a suit!
Sounds wonderful! Well, the first 2 bits. The ones she did! When’s all this?
Got a little while yet. Stag do is Feb, and wedding is easter. I’m a little concerned at wifi access (for fpl) but I’m hopeful the places the Mrs would’ve picked will be decent enough to provide me that service!
have you told her that your main concern is the wi-fi for fpl?
Please record a video of that exchange.
Not if she reads the above it won’t be! Yes love I’m just on Facebook, definitely not discussing Phillipino men-whores on a fantasy site
Well, if she has any sense of mariage balance she booked this for the easter international break!
And welcome back banjo!
I haven’t got around to expressing that concern yet. The wedding’s on a Thursday though, so at least I won’t be stressing out on the day. She’ll probably be sick of me by Saturday, so I’ll have all the time in the world for fpl 😉
“not discussing Phillipino men-whores on a fantasy site” hahahaha
Cheers DMC. If that was her reasoning then I’ve lucked in!
You better hope is not a Friday deadline.
Good morning Banjo congrats on your planned wedding , big day I’m sure. Wow Phillippines for a stag do just keep your hands in your pockets when out & a close eye on who’s standing nk to you in the urainals
Cheers Silvers! That sounds like the words of a man who’s learnt the hard way!!
Hi Banjo… I would keep a close eye on MUs pre-season when it comes to Valencia. If Shaw is back in the starting squad (which I doubt), Valencia might be rotated with Darmian more than last season, as this is his preferable position. Blind can also occupy the LB spot now that Lindeloff is in. And then you have Rojo comming back from injury. My guess is that only Bailly is a guaranteed starter in most games.
All good points! Thanks mate. I think MU defence could be very lucrative, and bailly doesn’t offer much going forward. One to watch I think.
Shiiiiitt just saw this post!
Congrats banjo! When is the big day? I got married just over a week ago and I can safely say it’s still the same…….. shit
(she doesn’t check this site so I’m safe)
Brilliant stuff mate. You got married in a birdcage though?
Lol #twat 😉
It was a pavilion on a lake! But now you mention it, it does look like a cage! Luckily my nose looks like a beak…
Nice picture mate, looks like you were fixing to lift your right leg a bit. 😉
FFS!! This is why I never posted any on the day!!
You didn’t expect anything different though did you
Shiiiiitt to you too!!!!! I didn’t know you had this going on this summer! Congrats mate. Glad to hear it’s not all gone downhill yet for you 😉
Mines not until Easter next year, so still got a little while of freedom.
Here is the TDF update, it was a rest day.
After 9 stages it looks some of the competitors have accomplished what they set out to do.
Init getting lucky, well done.
Cookie not being Cookie, well done
Kop sitting in a comfortable seat where he is unlikely to move anywhere, Kop always looking for comfort.
James from Antartica (the outsider), trying to blend in and attain new friends, so he sits in 4th where he can mingle with both sides of the leaderboard.
Bry in 5th and distracting as ever.
Mito in sixth and accomplishing his goal for this fantasy contest, winning the Green jersey (Amazing stuff)
D’Alessandro in 7th, staying close to his dad so he can learn from the best. Future green jersey winner in his future.
Lawdogg in last, right…
Morning all,
So today should be the launch of fpl 2017. Looking forward to it and the build up to the new season. Good to see so many active posters already!
Morning Magic, hopefully it’s today and hoepfully this morning as I’m off this afternoon! Hope you’re well.
Morning guys! Looking forward to the launch as well! can’t wait to start the rotation roller coaster before complaining over the high prices
Morning xaoc – has anyone’s price attracted you as yet? Init will love McAuley at 5mln!
Hey Cookie… no, not yet, but I have only seen the pre-announced ones. No full list available yet, correct? I am already looking at 3rd striker options, as 3 premium ones will be almost impossible to start with and Kane (even with an Alli cover) and Lukaku seem like a must at this point. I will likely avoid Lacazette at the start as I expect him to settle in slower. Inehacho to LCFC sounds tempting given the potential pricetag, but expect him to be rotated.
I usually plan ~3 of my starting defenders based on fixtures, until the starters are clear, especially given that CFC, MUN and MCI will not line up with the same defence as last season. I owned McAuley as of GW3 if I recall correctly and still sold him when the tough fixtures came close, as his goal contribution is too unpredictable for me. Azpi might be the one to look out for if he is to play as a wingback, but need to keep our eyes on pre-season for that.
