Pre-season Hub for the 2017/18 FPL season
Hello and welcome to the Pre Season Hub for the 2017/18 season.
For those both old and new to the site this is an article which aims to bring to you in one convenient place, all the vital news from each of the twenty Premier League clubs’ friendly matches this summer. The ultimate aim is to build up a portfolio of information to help you in selecting your opening FPL squad when the game re-opens week commencing 10th July (next week)!
The hub is very much a living document which I personally will keep up to date as the matches take place. I encourage you guys to help out with any line-ups, goal scoring or assist information. We also like to see general notes being left here if you happened to witness on screen, or better still, in person, any particular player performance, style etc. Basically anything you deem FPL worthy.
How to use…
The whole article is intrinsically linked to the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.
The purpose of this is so that –
1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…
2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.
So with the first pre-season friendlies involving FPL relevant teams taking place this Saturday the 8th with Watford beginning their schedule, please find below the fixtures…
(NB: At this stage there will still be pre-season matches being announced and I will endeavour to update these as we go along. Southampton for instance only have one friendly scheduled so far but this can be excused by their new manager only just arriving – expect further announcements soon).

The Fixture Tracker…
Wow these prices are all high. Just want to get started. Certainly going to need some budget players
Firmino as a forward. Milner a defender
These players have all been reclassified
Well, if Moses is a defender at 6.5 that means that Alonso is about 7.0, possibly 7.5?
Milner 6.5!! The game is fucked!! Lmao
He should be 6.5
Think he would have been second highest scoring defender last season, if he would have been classified as a defender.
Mito – any idea what his final point tally was?
Actually #1 not 2
“Continuing with Liverpool, just because I can. I wanted to talk about Mr. Boring himself, James Milner. I was looking through his stats a bit and wondered how he would have done if he would have been categorized as a defender instead of a midfielder. So he missed out on 36 points, since he only got one point instead of 4 for his 12 clean sheets. He also missed out on his goals being worth an extra point, so seven points more there. If you add the 43 points to his tally, he is the top scoring Liverpool player, what’s more he is the top scoring defender in the whole game. His final score would have been 182 points on the season. I thought about going game by game to see how many if any bonus points he gain, but I couldn’t be bothered, sorry…I provide a service, I never said it was a good one. I will however say that if my half hearted calculations are right he would have gained 102 more points in the BPS system and would of ended up with 784 which would have landed him second only to Azpi among defenders and 8th overall. If he is still on pens and he is classified as a defender next season, welcome to Mito’s XI, Mr. Boring. He won’t be no Lovren, but he will have to do.”
Cheers mito – I take back my earlier post! Do we think he’s nailed into continue with pens for this season?
So far so good, unless they sign VvD 😉
As long as he’s in the team he’ll stay on pens.
Yeah he could be a really good player to have. I will though be very surprised if Liverpool don’t sign a LB
Surely Liverpool will sign a LB
How many goals did Milner score from LB last season?
With Liverpool currently acting like amateurs in the transfer market there’s a good chance Milner will be our first choice left back again
Was it 6 pens? 5 scored 1 missed?
7 made and 1 missed
If he replicates that season he’ll be worth owning.
Question is if he will still be on pens. What do you think Kop?
As long as he’s in the team he’ll be on pens. There aren’t many who can match his record from the spot.
Brunt 5.5
Moses 6.5
Firmino 8.5
6.5 for Milner as a defender?! How much will Walker and Azpi cost then – 7.5?
For the most part I agree with the new position classifications, anything that brings more players into the game ( Moses, Milner) or help give alternative options at different price brackets ( Firmino, King).
Others are frustrating as making Brunt for example a midfielder pretty much removes him from the game much in the way Dier became a non entity last season. But all in all I think it’s an improvement … unless Moses and Milner cost 6.0+ … then it’s moot!
Rosco
Worth keeping in mind that Brunt was originally a midfielder and has since returned to what most see as his ‘normal’ position.
Yeah that’s fair enough, doesn’t make him any more appealing! Ha ha
He only kept 4 CS but take them away and he’d have finished on 77 points. At least as a Def he had the potential to grab a goal and CS but doubt many will have him in their line up come GW1!
I agree entirely mate.
I’m staying to get P—-d off with all this & what would we like to see now just get the game started 😉
Surely tomorrow not sure how much longer they can drag it out
I hope they take a rest day tomorrow and do twitter silence.
Judging by some of the twitter responses that would be funny
