Pre-season Hub for the 2017/18 FPL season

Hello and welcome to the Pre Season Hub for the 2017/18 season.
For those both old and new to the site this is an article which aims to bring to you in one convenient place, all the vital news from each of the twenty Premier League clubs’ friendly matches this summer. The ultimate aim is to build up a portfolio of information to help you in selecting your opening FPL squad when the game re-opens week commencing 10th July (next week)!

The hub is very much a living document which I personally will keep up to date as the matches take place. I encourage you guys to help out with any line-ups, goal scoring or assist information. We also like to see general notes being left here if you happened to witness on screen, or better still, in person, any particular player performance, style etc. Basically anything you deem FPL worthy.

How to use…
The whole article is intrinsically linked to the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.

The purpose of this is so that –
1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…

2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.

So with the first pre-season friendlies involving FPL relevant teams taking place this Saturday the 8th with Watford beginning their schedule, please find below the fixtures…

(NB: At this stage there will still be pre-season matches being announced and I will endeavour to update these as we go along. Southampton for instance only have one friendly scheduled so far but this can be excused by their new manager only just arriving – expect further announcements soon).

Actually beginning to think we may still be a few good days away judging by this. Simply looks like a work in progress not a ready product yet.

Won’t be holding my breath for tomorrow then 😉

      banjomaker says:

Am I being an idiot, Init? Why do these screenshots imply it’s still a work in progress?

      • inittowinit says:

Changed the kit / player pics but not yet the club names or club badges. Depends if they use the entire card or if they’re independent files. Did ask our IT about it but got little sense before they announced it was time to go eat!

Not sure on the number which shadows the background either – Rooney was 10 at Utd wasn’t he? Not sure what he’s getting at Everton, I’d have to check. 9 or 18 I’d imagine.

        • inittowinit says:

Ah there you go, it’s 10. Assumed he’d take 9 or his old one 18. Sandro is 9 which is interesting.

Makes me think it’s a whole card then in which case it’s defo a WIP.

        • banjomaker says:

Ah OK. It could mean it’s a way off, but it could just be a case of going live. I’d guess at the latter. I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily a cause for concern.

        • banjomaker says:

Could easily be many independent files. I’d be amazed if it wasn’t ready to go live.

        • inittowinit says:

There’s many that still have old pics on them though.

        • banjomaker says:

It’s all complete guess work, as we’ve no idea what their release process is. The current live site could well be an element of their test process. Going live will almost certainly involve flipping over to a new database and file system. I hope you’re concerns aren’t true, as it would imply a lot of work left to do!!

        • banjomaker says:

The images could be a caching thing as well. Have you tried a Ctrl F5 on one of the old ones that should’ve changed? Maybe it’s just that you never bothered to look at Rooney last season smile

        • inittowinit says:

He didn’t have an Everton shirt on him last season smile

        • banjomaker says:

Haha good point! I’ll stop trying/failing to be clever. Wish they’d just bloody release the thing.

Can any of you clever folk tell me how to link to my team from my name on here? I’m sure nobody will wanna click on it, but I wanna feel part of the gang.

I think fpl are dragging things out a bit….. every day that they drip feed us player prices looks like a no go….. Hopefully no sneak previews tomorrow!

    Morning Gang,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the new season.

I just hope they hurry up and launch FPL asap so we can start planning.

It’s going to be an exciting season, but a hard one with so many great players to consider.

    Speak soon

    AT says:

Morning all. What are people’s thoughts on Knockaert at £6m? 15 goals and 9 assists for Brighton last year with a fairly good fixture list bar City at home for the first game of the season. Feel like enablers galore will be needed this year with these prices!

    • 78.1
      inittowinit says:

Morning AT, can’t say I saw any Championship footy last season at all so I’m in the dark about the new teams. I believe GP is covering Brighton for us in the newly promoted articles so hopefully he can shed some light on them! He’ll probably get a 6.0 price tag or so I’d think.

      • AT says:

Morning init. I believe the official twitter page already released his price at £6m. Not sure though and can’t be bothered to trawl back through their tweets and frustrated replies haha. Feel like there will be a lot more compromising this year, unless there is a bigger budget.

        • inittowinit says:

I did wonder as I was typing if he’d been released but yeah exactly likewise!

        • inittowinit says:

          The original 20, doesn’t include yesterday’s leaks….

          Arsenal – Lacazette (FWD) – 10.5m
          Bournemouth – King (FWD) – £7.5m
          Brighton – Knockaert (MID) – 6.0m
          Burnley – Heaton (GK) – 5.0m
          Chelsea – Febregas (MID) – 7.0m
          Crystal Palace – Benteke (FWD) – 8.0m
          Everton – Klaassen (MID) – 7.5m
          Huddersfield – Ince (MID) – 6.0m
          Leicester – Maguire (DEF) – 5.0m
          Liverpool – Salah (MID) – 9.0m
          Man City – Sane (MID) – 8.5m
          Man Utd – Pogba (MID) – 8.0m
          Newcastle – Gayle (FWD) – 6.5m
          Southampton – Redmond (MID) – 6.5m
          Stoke – Allen (MID) – 5.5m
          Swansea – Llorente (FWD) – 7.5m
          Tottenham – Alli (MID) – 9.5m
          Watford – Capoue (MID) – 5.5m
          WBA – McAuley (DEF) – 5.0m
          West Ham – Lanzini (MID) – 7.0m

        • AT says:

I hope you didn’t type this out init 😉
Thanks though! Gayle looks nicely priced.

        • xaoc says:

Was just about to say the same for Gayle. Scored 23 last season plus 2 assists. Now, PL defenders are quite a level above the Championship ones, but considering fixtures and the need for a 3rd cheap striker, looks like a proper candidate.

    • 78.2
      xaoc says:

Morning, AT. He is on my watchlist. That is 15 in all competitions, correct? I think he has 13 in the Championship, which is quite promising. Matt Ritchie from Newcastle is also an option – scored 12 for them last season, but not sure how he will be priced.

      • AT says:

Morning xaoc. Can’t say I have personal knowledge of how many he scored. Transfermarkt has him at 15 for the Championship.

        • xaoc says:

I took some notes at the end of the season for FPL purposes, but not sure what source I used. In any case, both might prove to be good differentials and I will likely end up with one of them in my lineup, so I can free up funds for other areas.

    • 78.3
      Milburn says:

Morning AT. Yeah that seems a fair price for Knockaert who won player of the season last year. He’ll be involved in the majority of Brighton’s play so I’ll have an eye on him, I’d expect his and Brighton’s form to go hand in hand.
As xaoc has said, I’ll be more focused on Ritchie (perhaps I’m biased, who knows smile ). I’m hoping they’re the same price but I think Ritchie may be priced 0.5 – 1m more.

      • AT says:

Morning Milburn. My only reservation with Ritchie is that he was dubbed to be the golden boy from the Championship when he came up with Bournemouth and grossly underwhelmed in the Prem. I hope we aren’t seeing history repeat itself.
