Pre-season Hub for the 2017/18 FPL season
Hello and welcome to the Pre Season Hub for the 2017/18 season.
For those both old and new to the site this is an article which aims to bring to you in one convenient place, all the vital news from each of the twenty Premier League clubs’ friendly matches this summer. The ultimate aim is to build up a portfolio of information to help you in selecting your opening FPL squad when the game re-opens week commencing 10th July (next week)!
The hub is very much a living document which I personally will keep up to date as the matches take place. I encourage you guys to help out with any line-ups, goal scoring or assist information. We also like to see general notes being left here if you happened to witness on screen, or better still, in person, any particular player performance, style etc. Basically anything you deem FPL worthy.
How to use…
The whole article is intrinsically linked to the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.
The purpose of this is so that –
1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…
2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.
So with the first pre-season friendlies involving FPL relevant teams taking place this Saturday the 8th with Watford beginning their schedule, please find below the fixtures…
(NB: At this stage there will still be pre-season matches being announced and I will endeavour to update these as we go along. Southampton for instance only have one friendly scheduled so far but this can be excused by their new manager only just arriving – expect further announcements soon).

The Fixture Tracker…
How do you guys feel about Gabbiadini as a 3rd striker? At 7m and considering they play only one top 6 team (MUN) in the first 11 games (!) makes him a good option. It is either him or Gayle for me.
Gabbi has definitely got the potential to do well but he really let me down at the back end of the season so I’m still holding some resentment towards him. Stiff competition from Austin and Long as well so personally I’ll be holding off to see how he fairs pre-season.
Same feelings, Milburn. But those fixtures are damn tempting… On the other hand, downgrading him to Gayle would give me the option to fit in a MUN defender (Lindelof?) ahead of McAuley…
I have settled on the rest of the starters, as there are 6 players I definitely want to have at the start (Kane, Lukaku, Alli, Ozil, Forster, Cedrik/Yoshida and Azpi). The 6M mid will either be Knockaert or Ritchie, so that’s 7.
I think Austin will be the main striker if he stays fit.
Gabby faded badly at Napoli and I fear it may be deja-vu. Plus I’m still mad at him for his abysmal DGW contributions.
The budget they should have released..
Alonso or Azpi & why?
Alonso – because he plays further up the pitch and is involved in many attacking movements from his team (thus his 6 goals last term vs Azpi’s 1). He also has the best PPM from a defender (5.7) (Azpi’s is 4.5).
Azpi – because you can’t afford Alonso!
I’d be keeping an eye on pre season. With Rudiger’s arrival I can see Azpi taking Moses’ spot, and playing the same position as Alonso, but on the right. In which case Azpi is the better pick, IMO.
Who’s got the best start to the season then? Man City?
Out of the percieved top 7 I’d say them or Man United have. Out of the rest it’d be West Brom or Southampton.
Yeah agreed. I’m looking at players from all 4 teams.
Will Monreal continue to start at left back?
Too early to say for sure. They’ve signed Kolasinac and it depends whether they stick to 3 at the back also. Too many variables and combos to be sure right now.
Yeah definitely. I’m hoping that they play 3 at the back with Kolasinac as one of the 3 centre backs. Then Ox and Monreal on the wings.
That’s possible. Bellerin will have a big say on the right too though. Sort of the perfect wing back really.

As I see it, I think it would be:
Cech
Mustafi Koscileny Monreal
Bellerin Xhaka Ramsey Kolasinac
Ozil Sanchez
Lacazette
I’m actually warming to Arsenal’s chances.
GP, if the latest quotes being attributed to Sanchez are true then you can remove him from your lineup!!
Don’t forget that Kos is suspended for the first few weeks.
And that Ramsey will be injured by that point.
The new Chelsea signing Bakayoko priced at 5 million ?, definitely worth considering a regular in the team.. Opinions Lads?
Nah, he is a taller version of Kante from what I can tell.
From his performances in the Champions League last year would consider him a better player FPL wise to Kante ?
Nope.
Is that a question or a statement?
Monaco scored 107 goals last season. Bakayoko scored 3 of them!!
So you saying there’s a chance. 😉
There’s always a chance!! 😉
Damn, didn’t know he was that away from goals.. Any idea on the number of assists by him out of those 107 goals scored?
One
Jeet, he had 3 goals and 1 assist in 3000 minutes, that’s including CL.
He had 5 yellows and 1 red in that same span.
