Pre-season Hub for the 2017/18 FPL season
Hello and welcome to the Pre Season Hub for the 2017/18 season.
For those both old and new to the site this is an article which aims to bring to you in one convenient place, all the vital news from each of the twenty Premier League clubs’ friendly matches this summer. The ultimate aim is to build up a portfolio of information to help you in selecting your opening FPL squad when the game re-opens week commencing 10th July (next week)!
The hub is very much a living document which I personally will keep up to date as the matches take place. I encourage you guys to help out with any line-ups, goal scoring or assist information. We also like to see general notes being left here if you happened to witness on screen, or better still, in person, any particular player performance, style etc. Basically anything you deem FPL worthy.
How to use…
The whole article is intrinsically linked to the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.
The purpose of this is so that –
1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…
2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.
So with the first pre-season friendlies involving FPL relevant teams taking place this Saturday the 8th with Watford beginning their schedule, please find below the fixtures…
(NB: At this stage there will still be pre-season matches being announced and I will endeavour to update these as we go along. Southampton for instance only have one friendly scheduled so far but this can be excused by their new manager only just arriving – expect further announcements soon).

2nd pre season game…
Come on!!!! Image be of Rolando stayed fit!! We would have a proper 4.5 bargain on our hands!!
I’m not going there again. 2 seasons ago I said he’d be the bargain buy of the season and he got injured the next week! Propa shot myself in the foot ha
Haha yeah I know, he’s def got potential but seems to be made of egg boxes!
I’d imagine Ritchie and Murphy will be 1st choice. Aaron’s and Atsu aren’t bad impact subs to have like. Both can inject a bit of pace!
Preston North End 0-0 Newcastle United

Newcastle’s penultimate friendly:
So Milburn if Darlow starts against Hellas on Saturday, who starts v Spurs??
I think Elliot is definitely Rafa’s favoured choice so as long as he doesn’t mess up between now and then.
When he came back from injury and they were both fit at the back end of last season it was Elliot who was number 1.
That’s promising. Cheers mate.

Southampton fans are not very confident for the season ahead. Particularly if VVD leaves.
Abandon ship?
Those fixtures make that difficult
If it wasn’t for their ridiculous fixture list, I would be. Certainly only having a defender (Forster, currently)
Currently I don’t have a Southampton defender but that might change as I still need to work on my defence.
Would Soton def still be of interest, after VVD leaves? Currently have Bertrand in my team
Yeah VVD missed a lot of last season anyway and they were still pretty solid. Their line up this weekend will be key. Must only be a matter of time before VVD leaves
A partnership of Yoshida and Stephens wouldn’t inspire much confidence over the course of a season.

Spurs observations from last night.
Nothing went right for them. As far as the players we care about in FPL, this is what I can say.
Trippier looked awful, Spurs deployed a 3 back and they were shredded. City consistently got in behind them and Kieran was absolutely no help. Davies was similar. Trippier played a great ball to Alli in the 2nd minute and then spend the rest of the game chasing City players around. I hope Spurs fans didn’t think Trippier was somehow better than Walker, because there was no evidence of that last night. Spurs need Rose back and if last night is any indication, might need a RB if they care about defending at all.
Alli had one chance in the 2nd minute that Ederson stopped and that was it. I literally forgot he was playing until they subbed him out in the 70th minute.
Eriksen wasn’t a ton better than Alli, but he had that free kick and a shot or two, at the very least I remember seeing him on the field, so we will count that as a positive for him.
Kane did nothing for 45 minutes then appeared and missed his only good chance in the first half. I hear he played the 2nd 45 also, but you could have fooled me. Maybe that whole slow start thing should be feared.
If Spurs decide to play a back 3, they better choose who they do it against wisely, because it is obvious that through balls in behind defenders are a huge problem. If City would have finished their chances like one would expect this could have been a really embarrassing score line, even for pre-season.
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Juventus

WATFORD Pre-Season Hub Home
Watford line-up for their first pre-season game. It was listed as an official pre-season game for them but looks like they’ve sent the kids. Plus a trialist!
A trialist gets around!
Speaking of which. Tenuously… the main pic, by way of explanation, was because St Albans list Watford as a pre-season friendly and I just wanted a minnows ground to use. Transpires that Watford themselves won’t acknowledge it as a game in theirs!
Nothing much doing in this one. If anyone’s bothered, I doubt it –

Hello mate, hope you are well? Shame he’s not listed as a mid actually at that price as he rarely played up top last season, more wide ish so sort of surprised he is actually in the fwd bracket. He looked good a few times last season when I saw him. There was one game in particular, it was televised and may even have been the Everton game when he looked amazing. He was pumped up for it, almost to Maradona drug fuelled proportions in fact!
I’m good thanks well if he is even 50% maradonna will do for me!
