Site Team Gameweek 1
Hello and welcome to Site Team Gameweek 1. Seeing as FPL opened about 4 months ago, you would think we would have spent hours formulating our plans for the team, endlessly researching the stats and pre-season appearances of the players and balancing our budget to accommodate the must haves and the dark horses.
No. We all forgot about it until the Taskmaster that is Mito, clipped us round the ear and made us do stuff. Well, even then it was just to say if we liked ‘his’ team that he had created for us.
( …and even still we have our suspicions that The Legend played Twitter roulette and copied the first template he found).
But guess what? We all, in the main, loved the draft. A little tweak here and there to justify our enormous salaries but by and large we felt great and FPL could start in five minutes time if it liked.
Then Watkins came off injured.
Then Robertson did his ankle.
Then Toney had a knock.
Then Watkins was OK again.
And going to be playing in the middle!
It’s great to be back!
The Squad
OK so we know what you’re thinking and yes, we have taken the plunge on Tsimikas. His three assists and nice fixtures have us on the end of the line. We double him up with Trent and the obvious Mohamed Salah pick rounds off our maximum Liverpool exposure. Curiously Jota wasn’t given any thought so we must all be happy without him.
We don’t want to be faffing about with goalkeeper transfers at any stage (except maybe the wildcard(s)) so we’ll spend just £8.5mln and go all in on Watford with Bachmann and Foster offering an assured goalkeeper each week (don’t mention the ‘C’ word).
Joining the Liverpool lads in defence then are Luke Shaw, Luke Ayling and Ben White – who really should have been called Luke by his parents. We will likely use 3 defenders most weeks at the start and those will likely be our Liverpool two and Shaw but incase we don’t and/or we need a sub we are nicely covered.
Bruno is in and it shouldn’t take that much explaining and we have Raphinha and Harvey Barnes rounding off the spots in there. We usually always like the look of Leeds’ and Leicester’s attack and these two seem quite assured there and each for a favourable price as well. Burnley’s Josh Brownhill is the back up.
Our attackers are Danny Ings Ollie Watkins, Michail Antonio and Ivan Toney in what will now be known as the *drumroll*
‘AN-TONEY-KINS’
… we’ll work on that and come back to you …
There you have it. We have no plans to play early chips or wildcards and will see where the game takes us this season.

We are all hoping for a more normal season than last when it seemed that the virus was strangling not only FPL but football itself and the return of supporters and normal match schedules are hopefully also back for good.

Gray seems quite a punt but other than that I really like it. And yes, Salah cappo.
I like the majority
. I haven’t seen a Watford defender (other than the GKs) in drafts and I think there are better options than Rose (I just don’t think he’s very good). Coady, Veltman and White all other options you could think about.
It has been only a couple of hours and Luka is at 1.6%
Expect when you wake up to find it maybe at 40%
A shame in the sense that if he got to that and doesn’t play then he’ll be sold off big time for whichever striker hits the jackpot this weekend. That will then inflate said striker’s price but may not deflate Lukaku’s.
I have the same feeling, just a cameo in the second for welcome.
I can’t see him starting but I suppose there are lots of folks that just want him on their team even if he doesn’t. I’m currently looking at who would go if I did bring him in in GW2 or 3. It would be for a hit in 2 as I don’t have anyone of that value in my front 3, but from the looks of most folks’ teams posted here, they don’t either.
ODT, trust me that will change by tomorrow afternoon.
Many are already back to the drawing board and plotting new drafts with him.
I was tempted but it’s too late to rip everything up and start again. It’d probably mean losing either Salah or Bruno and I can’t quite bear that yet.
LA, all it takes to lose TAA and you can keep the rest.

Evening gang! Hope you’re all well. I have nothing in the bank. Will see how Mane pans out and possibly downgrade to Son in gameweek 2. Feel free to rip it up gang! All feedback welcome.
I was looking at that and thinking – f*ck how did they manage that – then realised no TAA. But not a bad compromise in Mane and I salute that side. Grealish may or may not get significant minutes but you’ll have him in place for the Norwich game, as I suspect many others will. Shame you can’t quite get to Mahrez but you can’t have everything.
You could downgrade Coufal to the cheap Leicester defender but having Grealish in situ is no bad thing.

I’m fine. My side is depressingly template. It wasn’t so much before the Robbo injury, plus I’ve avoided Son all the way through, but it drifted into that mode as soon as the cheap Liverpool defender emerged. That switched me from 4/3/3 to 3/4/3.
Good to hear. Yeah i think alot of us will have similar teams. Thoughts on Benrahma? Had him in a few drafts. Could be Mahrez mark 2.
Yes could be, hopefully will be at that price. Easy enough swap if it works out. Soucek will probably freakishly complicate things.
Downgrade Grealish to Gundo?
Or Greenwood, or Barnes, Raphinha etc and move for Grealish before GW2 if you’re ok about an amount of early-season hokey-cokey
Evening all! My first post this season, life seems to be taking over and reducing my fpl time! What’s that about? How does this team look to start? I’ve put Lukaku in thinking it would save a transfer in a week or two!

?! I like your Armstrong pick and the Lukaku planning. I’m too much of a wimp to get him in just yet – maybe GW7ish time, or when CHE start making a mockery of those ‘hard’ fixtures. Good luck 
Hey Loud Atlas! FPL certainly keeps me sane in between the terrible 3 year old tantrums and what will be a new born in October!
Lukaku and Barnes could always become Vardy and Gundo to start with. My only concern at the moment is that I don’t have t City coverage!
