Site Team Gameweek 1
Hello and welcome to Site Team Gameweek 1. Seeing as FPL opened about 4 months ago, you would think we would have spent hours formulating our plans for the team, endlessly researching the stats and pre-season appearances of the players and balancing our budget to accommodate the must haves and the dark horses.
No. We all forgot about it until the Taskmaster that is Mito, clipped us round the ear and made us do stuff. Well, even then it was just to say if we liked ‘his’ team that he had created for us.
( …and even still we have our suspicions that The Legend played Twitter roulette and copied the first template he found).
But guess what? We all, in the main, loved the draft. A little tweak here and there to justify our enormous salaries but by and large we felt great and FPL could start in five minutes time if it liked.
Then Watkins came off injured.
Then Robertson did his ankle.
Then Toney had a knock.
Then Watkins was OK again.
And going to be playing in the middle!
It’s great to be back!
The Squad
OK so we know what you’re thinking and yes, we have taken the plunge on Tsimikas. His three assists and nice fixtures have us on the end of the line. We double him up with Trent and the obvious Mohamed Salah pick rounds off our maximum Liverpool exposure. Curiously Jota wasn’t given any thought so we must all be happy without him.
We don’t want to be faffing about with goalkeeper transfers at any stage (except maybe the wildcard(s)) so we’ll spend just £8.5mln and go all in on Watford with Bachmann and Foster offering an assured goalkeeper each week (don’t mention the ‘C’ word).
Joining the Liverpool lads in defence then are Luke Shaw, Luke Ayling and Ben White – who really should have been called Luke by his parents. We will likely use 3 defenders most weeks at the start and those will likely be our Liverpool two and Shaw but incase we don’t and/or we need a sub we are nicely covered.
Bruno is in and it shouldn’t take that much explaining and we have Raphinha and Harvey Barnes rounding off the spots in there. We usually always like the look of Leeds’ and Leicester’s attack and these two seem quite assured there and each for a favourable price as well. Burnley’s Josh Brownhill is the back up.
Our attackers are Danny Ings Ollie Watkins, Michail Antonio and Ivan Toney in what will now be known as the *drumroll*
‘AN-TONEY-KINS’
… we’ll work on that and come back to you …
There you have it. We have no plans to play early chips or wildcards and will see where the game takes us this season.
Captain
I don’t think this one needs any explaining, nor does the vice.

Think I’m getting closer to a final team! How does this look?
Is Foster going to play? I only have him as he’s 4m and everyone else has him…
‘Tis looking good.
Hi everyone, can you please give advice on this team?
My plan is to drop Bruno for Sancho and then get Lukaku in for Ings (i have 1m spare to make this happen)
I would prefer to keep Ings and drop Antonio or Toney but funds are spent… Or maybe I’m over thinking things
It’s fine to have those plans (they’re good plans) so long as you are willing to the idea of having to completely abandon those plans when the proverbial hits the fan. Great team, by the way…
Morning all, what do we think of Havertz? I have some doubts if he’s better or worse for Lukaku’s arrival. You’d assume he’s fairly nailed as the 10 so ought to be in the thick of the action. Would you replace with Gundogan or Greenwood or stick?
I think he will be rotated now. Though Ziyech being injured will help with that
Here’s where I am at. I’m between these two. It’s Tony, Son and Ayling v Ings, Mahrez and well no real bench
I like that second one. Very similar to mine except you’ve even manged to also squeeze TAA in!
The idea of a forward bench warmer is very appealing
They’re both great. I’m not entirely convinced that Son is needed against City with a new manager and the Kane issue looming large.
I like the second one Smasher.
How about Ings / Gundogan / Barnes?
So basically option 1 with Mahrez/Benhrama/Livramento to Gundogan/Barnes/Ayling
Any help and advice would be appreciated please.
Tanner9, too much uncertainty still surrounding Kane and too expensive to gamble in this case. It has been said that whatever happens he is set to miss GW1.
So here’s my locked and loaded team 1.
Abu will be big Ron at as my 1st sub. Taking an early punt on him.
Aubameyang. We have somehow gone back in time by exactly 365 days…
If he’s a punt and ready to be shipped out for Lukaku, get the armband on him tonight!
Not that brave lol
@Gavy, I see some concerns here. I be a little surprised if Saka or Sancho started this GW.
@Gavy
I think Auba is out for GW1. So perhaps Saka will start if he doesn’t go with Martinelli.
