Site Team Gameweek 1
Hello and welcome to Site Team Gameweek 1. Seeing as FPL opened about 4 months ago, you would think we would have spent hours formulating our plans for the team, endlessly researching the stats and pre-season appearances of the players and balancing our budget to accommodate the must haves and the dark horses.
No. We all forgot about it until the Taskmaster that is Mito, clipped us round the ear and made us do stuff. Well, even then it was just to say if we liked ‘his’ team that he had created for us.
( …and even still we have our suspicions that The Legend played Twitter roulette and copied the first template he found).
But guess what? We all, in the main, loved the draft. A little tweak here and there to justify our enormous salaries but by and large we felt great and FPL could start in five minutes time if it liked.
Then Watkins came off injured.
Then Robertson did his ankle.
Then Toney had a knock.
Then Watkins was OK again.
And going to be playing in the middle!
It’s great to be back!
The Squad
OK so we know what you’re thinking and yes, we have taken the plunge on Tsimikas. His three assists and nice fixtures have us on the end of the line. We double him up with Trent and the obvious Mohamed Salah pick rounds off our maximum Liverpool exposure. Curiously Jota wasn’t given any thought so we must all be happy without him.
We don’t want to be faffing about with goalkeeper transfers at any stage (except maybe the wildcard(s)) so we’ll spend just £8.5mln and go all in on Watford with Bachmann and Foster offering an assured goalkeeper each week (don’t mention the ‘C’ word).
Joining the Liverpool lads in defence then are Luke Shaw, Luke Ayling and Ben White – who really should have been called Luke by his parents. We will likely use 3 defenders most weeks at the start and those will likely be our Liverpool two and Shaw but incase we don’t and/or we need a sub we are nicely covered.
Bruno is in and it shouldn’t take that much explaining and we have Raphinha and Harvey Barnes rounding off the spots in there. We usually always like the look of Leeds’ and Leicester’s attack and these two seem quite assured there and each for a favourable price as well. Burnley’s Josh Brownhill is the back up.
Our attackers are Danny Ings Ollie Watkins, Michail Antonio and Ivan Toney in what will now be known as the *drumroll*
‘AN-TONEY-KINS’
… we’ll work on that and come back to you …
There you have it. We have no plans to play early chips or wildcards and will see where the game takes us this season.
Captain
I don’t think this one needs any explaining, nor does the vice.

We are all hoping for a more normal season than last when it seemed that the virus was strangling not only FPL but football itself and the return of supporters and normal match schedules are hopefully also back for good.
Good luck to absolutely everyone from us all at FF247 Site Team.

Hello everybody – I’m starting to get nervous. I have replaced Jota with Gundo, then settled on Greenwood as he seems more likely to start regularly for the first weeks and take part in the attack for Utd. I really now don’t know!!! Gunna run with this lot and see in 2 GW’s time!
Good luck in case I can’t make it back in time! Cheerio all!
Looks good, double Brentford in the attack though. I wouldn’t mind one or the other, having both seems risky, best of luck.
I know, but am entering that relationship eyes fully open. Will change vif necessary. Thanks for the comments
Oops! IF necessary!
You sound in love, which means you have blinders on and don’t know it.
The Brentford adventure – just seems too romantic to pass up on!
Hi all,
Here is what I have come up with – nothing to crazy. Good to go?
Would love a plan for lukaku (thinking salah to jota to free up funds)
I also have a feeling we will all bye scrambling for some city coverage aswell…
Anyways, good luck to all
There are other options to get to Lukaku there could even mean a several week transfer plan to raise the money. Chelsea’s fixtures don’t look great after this GW, so perhaps you have more time to get him in.
Yep very true, doesn’t help being a chelsea fan haha
I am glad I don’t play fantasy La Liga as my love for Real Madrid would make it very difficult for me to manage my fantasy side correctly. I get in trouble in Champions League fantasy because of it sometimes. Having said that, doesn’t mean you are wrong to want Lukaku, he plays on a really good side and should do really well, so definitely have a plan in place at some point you are going to need it.
Hope everyone is ready and looking forward to the new season! Can I get one last little vote please. Currently going with team 1, thinking they should all start and capable of big points. Son upfront & Mahrez should be nailed for Norwich & until Foden/KDB back. Know bench is a bit bare but hoping to get through the 1st 2 GWs and then switch to team 2 or 3, when transfer window closes, Kane decides where he’ll be playing and we’ve had a chance to look at Barnes/Toney/Watkins etc
Team 2
Team 3
Kev,
3
I dismissed the initial one because I think you are painting yourself into a corner having only one striker there -to get to two (or three) reasonable ones requires a bit of shifting the furniture around elsewhere which can be a huge task sometimes (wildcard aside).
I’ve gone with three because I agree with you that Mahrez could have great scores in his first two matches and Barnes and Watkins are two fantastic options for their price – and proven.
Oh. so pick one of the three, I thought he was asking us to pick a path for him to head down in the future.
Team 3 would also be my pick in that case since I love to start with Mahrez and there are more options to change the team up depending on how the season starts.
I like team A the one you are going with, think that looks fine. Think you are asking us to vote on team 2 or 3. I like the Barnes pick on both teams, I think if you are going to own a Villa attacker it should be now, not necessarily Watkins as he is a doubt for this GW. I don’t think I be buying Villa in for their tough fixtures if anything I be selling for GW4. Brentford’s fixtures are a bit up and down, but he is cheaper so perhaps that be a better choice. There is also a great chance that one of the other forward options shows out these early weeks and they become the obvious option. Jimenez, Wilson, DCL, Ichy or someone else could all turn out to be good options.
Cheers GP & Mito!
Yeah I probably made that a bit confusing but yeah I intend to start with team 1 and then move to 2 or 3 by gw3 with 2 FTs and wanted views on sticking with that plan or just starting with team 2 or 3 instead.
Just felt a bit nervous with 1 forward like GP mentions, in team 1, but at the same time it gives me proven, nailed players as well as 2 weeks to judge the uncertainties of Toney/Watkins/Barnes etc.
It does also give me an easy-ish route to Kane/Lukaku if/when want.
Agree that there’s not much point bringing in Villa 2 GWs in, but yeah the forward options could be clearer by then with the options mito mentioned….or iheanacho v Norwich if he’s getting minutes.
Guess the real question is ….
2 Premium, nailed players but no bench for 2gw’s or 3 good players with slight question marks over them and one of which sat on the bench each week?
Think it always matters who the 3 good players are. 2 premiums feels safer, but if you have the right 3 players that have plenty of upside I could certainly be convinced by that. Also matters who the 2 premiums get as their budget player having to start.
Personally I am going the 3 good players route as I don’t have Bruno currently in my team.
Final draft thoughts
Looks ok
Looks good as long as you know that Lukaku won’t start this week and that is just part of the plan to have him in already. I still remove the VC from him just to be safe.
I’m loving all the information, but I’m starting to panic.
I’ve flipped my team on it’s head and gone away from a bargain Attack.
Is Lukaku, Vardy & Antonio up front too much?
In a word, yeah.
It probably is too much for GW1. With Lukaku not starting that feels like a lot of money that will go unused, but perhaps it is not the worst thing to have him in your side now and not waste transfers down the line to get him in if that is your plan. I certainly change the bench order. Think I play Tsimikas over one of the Arsenal guys and would change the Captaincy.
Thanks. You prob right in Lukaku. Was looking longer term, but he can come in next week
Hi guys,
Good to be back.
What are your thoughts on the team?
not too sure on Dallas or Kaku tbh
and should i get Trent in instead of someone?
very confused lol
Dallas is not a good choice. No clean cs bonuses if he is listed as a mid. Last year he was a defender, so don’t go for statistics and pick another option. You can get someone at 4.5, play Smith Rowe and invest the rest elswhere.
