Welcome to Site Team Gameweek 2

The 2021/22 season is underway and we’ve started off in a very handsome manner indeed; 94 points and a rank of 817,700. Although this wasn’t the opening century achieved by many of our friends, had you offered us 25pts above the average prior to GW1, we’d have snapped your hand off (in true Football Clichés style).

Despite the best efforts of our shameful Five (Barnes with 3pts, Toney with 2pts and Bachmann, Shaw and Raphinha all just a solitary 1pt) who tried their damndest to bring down the average, our other six (who had clearly read the briefing) brought home the bacon. Nice.

Double Liverpool at the back got us off to a solid start; a clean sheet win at Carrow Road bringing in a solid 12pts between Trent and the self-anointed ‘Greek Scouser’ Tsimikas.

Up top, DCL opened his account for the season, and the members of our team who voted him in as our late Watkins replacement have a justifiable ‘smug face’, although in fairness, the alternative (Danny Ings) also did the business, I digress. Michail Antonio proved to be a sound pick; 13 points for an all-around performance at St James’ that even a penalty miss could not diminish, we knew he’d be a great pick and won’t apologise for it!

Finally, onto Bruno and Salah ©. They did alright, I suppose.

Our Gameweek 2 Transfer(s)

Such was the contentment with our opening performance and squad in genera (as it stands), that none of our management team suggested a transfer. Which is about as much of a conclusive ‘save and move’ as you’ll find.

Don’t ask us what our plan is moving forward (we have nothing) but we do like the idea of having two freebies in GW3 and an opportunity to go FPL high-end shopping.

Once more (of course), it came down to the two midfield gladiators, and in a vote of seven, it’s the Egyptian who faces Burnley at home with the armband firmly wrapped around his upper arm. In case you’re interested, the vote ended 5-2. At one point it was 3-2, it could have gone either way, but in the end, the last two votes went the way of the Liverpool man. Bruno takes the VC.

    • Wish I’d chosen the same strategy as the Site Team guys. Decided to go with one Liverpool at the back not two and put Stones in who didn’t play. Couple of questions, have no money in the bank and need to transfer out Watkins. Do I
      A) transfer our just Watkins for a 7.5m striker or
      B) transfer in a more expensive striker, DCL and get a cheaper defender?

      • I have not followed Watkins news. What does the Villa presser say?

        If fit, hold. If not, don’t take a hit getting a more expensive striker. Maybe get Wilson?

        • I’d prob sell Watkins. Smith does not have a good record when reporting injuries

      • I’d hold if you have bench cover and then work with 2 FT next week!

      • watkins not expected to play.

        antonio has risen to 7.6 if u dont have him. U could get Wilson or upgrade & take a hit.

        But Stones will most likely play this weekend. At home to Norwich. He was late from Euros so didnt start last game

  3. I’m considering a bold move. Either no transfers and stick with squad 1 or wildcard and go squad 2, thoughts?

    • Sorry wildcard squad above, current team below

      • Dont think your team warrants a WC

        • True that, pretty solid team. You’ve got good coverage for GW2. 2FT can cure most of your ails.

      • Stick.

        If in doubt of enough starters, pick one to change for a certain starter – but save that WC.

    • I really like your squad, no need for a WC at all!!

    • Sounds like Lukaku from the bench this GW.

      • Christian Pulisic has been confirmed as tesing positive for Covid-19 and will miss the Arsenal match.

        • Oh boy. Wonder if that makes it more likely that Lukaku starts.

          Plus there is also this from Tuchel about the Belgian. “We are hoping that he is on the pitch for Sunday and things look like it.”

          Could mean bench but with Pulisic out, maybe that opens the door a bit more for him starting.
