Sunday Review GW17 – FPL Fantasy Premier League

Sou v TotSouthampton 2-3 Spurs
Managerless Spurs made the trip to St Mary’s to take on a Southampton side that have lost a bit of form of late. With no AVB in sight, it was up to Tim Sherwood to try and turns things around for Spurs and attempt to get them back up the table. Things did not start well for them though as after 13 minutes Adam Lallana opened the scoring for the Saints with a lovely turn and clinical finish. Danny Fox was credited with the assist as he passed the ball to his skipper to open the scoring. Then from absolutely nothing, Spurs equalised as Roberto Soldado chased down a pass from Adebayor that was heading for the corner flag, he then delivered a swirling right foot cross that perfectly found Adebayor again who stabbed the ball home in mid flight.Just a note here, this was Spurs’ first goal by a striker in their last 665 minutes of premier league action. Frightening that! After the break and Spurs took the lead as Danny Rose fizzed in a low cross which Jos Hooiveld turned into his own net. Soon after however and the scores were level once again as Rickie Lambert passed the ball easily into the net, this after Lloris made a horrible mess, misjudging a cross by Jack Cork which then fell to the feet of Lallana at the far post who squared it up to Lambert. The scoring was not over yet though as Adebayor got his second of the game and the three points for Spurs. He found himself free on the right hand side and made his way into the box before neatly finishing into the far corner from a narrow angle. Spurs really could have made it more after that but Soldado missed a couple of very good chances. It was enough to see them over the line though in what was an entertaining five goal thriller.
Bonus Points: Adebayor(3), Lallana(2), Lambert(1)

Swa v EveSwansea 1-2 Everton
Another great opportunity here for Everton to carry on with their remarkable form and keep up with the front runners in the league. It was a bit of a slow start with a couple of chances here and there for both teams but nothing too concrete. In fact that was the theme of the half as it seemed both teams were a bit tentative and as a result a number of passes went astray. The only potential talking point was a tackle by Ashley Williams in the Swans box on Ross Barkley that could actually have resulted in a penalty but nothing came of it. Things got slightly better in the second half as a lot more chances were created but still no breakthrough. Then up stepped the most in form defender at this time, Seamus Coleman, with an absolute screamer of a finish. He picked the ball up from James McCarthy, drove forward a little bit and then unleashed a thunderbolt from far out which flew into the top corner. All of a sudden this game kicked into another gear. Soon after that Swansea found the equaliser, as a cross found Tiendalli at the far post and his effort deflected off Everton’s Oviedo and crept into the goal. This could well go down as an own goal which now puts own goals as Swansea’s highest goal scorer for the season. Everton then found themselves with a breakaway which resulted in James McCarthy being fouled. Up stepped Ross Barkley with a peach of a free kick that deserved to see the three points go the way of the blue side, and see them move into the top four.
Bonus Points: McCarthy (3), Barkley(2), Williams & Tiendalli (1)

Could you guys inform me, was Adebayor playing infront of Soldado or was it just a normal 4-4-2 system ? Or how were they lined up?

fucking hell man..tired of non the keepers or back line getting any clean sheets for the past 3 GW..should i use my FT to get Coleman instead of WIlliams(Swansea)?

      The B says:

Could be a good idea, considering Swansea’s tough run of fixtures.

      • Abood says:

uhh cant afford him anymore, didnt realize hes for 6.3 now, real quick price rise for a defender lol.. im considering getting rid of lukaku, think adebayor is gonna be a starter for now? until the jan wc..

        • The B says:

Not sure whether Adebayor will keep starting or not, but with those 2 goals, i think he will. And with upcoming tasty fixtures of WB, Stoke and Palace in next 4 games, Adebayor could be a good punt.

Abood- if u wanna double up on Everton defense, maybe Jagielka or Howard ?
if Coleman is too pricey for ya…

      • Abood says:

uhhh i cann afford doing Guzan>Howard but is a GK worth to waste a FT on? besides Guzan has some good fixtures coming up? and Jagelka doesnt score =/ .. thinkin of doin lukaku>Adebayor… Williams>Coleman for a -4hit? whats your take on that?

        • The B says:

Dude, Guzan has Palace next. So dont replace him.

        • Abood – taking a hit is never ok, imho 😉 …
if it is not a necessary one, off course…
Mito was posting dozen of times here info about how many positions it will cost you once you take a hit…generally, no hit is worth the hassle, tbh…especially for a defender or a gk…

This is why I ask – can you do them over 2 weeks, maybe ?

        • Abood says:

lol let me quote The B “Coleman faces Sunderland at home, so huge potential of clean sheet. And Adebayor will face WB at home, so yeah, good chances of scoring. ” is exactly why im thinkin of takin the hit..thing is most of my opponents got Coleman, and hes got 18 points in 2 weeks without even a clean sheet lol so i just wanna be on the same boat you know.. laugh

Who is the best budget defender under 5M with good upcoming fixtures? Need to replace Chico.

      Abood says:

      debuchy @ 4.9, considering him myself… tthink lukaku>Adebayor… Williams>Coleman is worth a -4hit?

      • The B says:

        It could pay off.
Coleman faces Sunderland at home, so huge potential of clean sheet. And Adebayor will face WB at home, so yeah, good chances of scoring.

But keep Lukaku unless you want to make funds, as Lukaku has good opponent too.

      The B..

      Looking for cheap defender..?
What about Jonny Evans at £5m, looks pretty nailed on with both Vidic & Ferdinand looking iffy..?

      • The B says:

Wow. Cant believe i completely ignored ManUtd defence. All i was gonna consider was AV and Norwich.

But i did read that Vidic was almost recovered, im not sure. If he is actually fit, you think he’ll replace Smalling? Or Evans?

    This is where everyone is…
Found myself on me own on the live chat,,,!
    Anyway reposted this from earlier..!

Don’t really understand the totalfpl site which has the price rises info..?
    But
I’m thinking Silva > Ramsey but to raise cash I need to do Ivanovic to Baker / Chambers both 3.9m bench fodder…
I got 1 FT till next GW & don’t really want to take hit.. But if I wait, silva may go up, which means even Baker/ chambers are out of reach..?
Currently Silva valued at 9.2 …should I wait till next GW or take the hit before he’s out of range..?

      The B says:

Dont do it man, your defence will suffer. You already have YYT so whats the need?

If you do this, you’ll have defence full of either Everton players or from newly promoted teams. Not to mention the fact that the guys you plan on bringing are just good for a week or two, as they are bench materials in their respective team (Hint: Vlaar and Clyne smile )

BigPopz – Silva is on 107% which means he will go up in price 2night !
Nevertheless – I would not sell Ramsey – if I was you…don’t see a reason to do it…
Don’t think you wan’t to upgrade Wally – especially since u ve brought him just this this week…
Yaya is a season keeper for ya for sure…
I wouldn’t do it for a hit also – so not sure what to suggest….
Noticed you ve taken a hit this GW as well – so taking a hit is nothing strange for ya…

K, to sum it up – Nope, would not do it…
Would downgrade Ivanovic to another defender, though…that’s for sure…
Then I would wait and see what happens with Wally tomorrow and reassess his GW mins…
If ARS is to rotate (and they will) coming off from an injury, he cold be the most affected one, no ?
If that is the case – it will mean you have transferred him in too early and you can maybe switch to Silva…

      just thinking out loud…

p.s. I never want to give advice to people who are better ranked than me…(if u are – u ve done it urself based on ur decisions 😉 )…
So, I would recommend 1 thing only – go with what ur gut tells you, mate
