[/three_fourth]As the season progresses, it’s time to start keeping an eye on the red and yellow card count for our players and transfer targets, in order to make sure we can field 11 players each week. With cup matches also playing a part with regard to suspensions, holding that transfer until later in the week can sometimes pay dividends.
In brief, any player who gets a red card during a game will receive a suspension, normally between 1 and 3 games, depending on what has done, however players also receive suspensions for yellow cards. Any player who receives 5 yellow cards up to and including 31st Dec will receive a 1 match suspension. Any player who receives 10 yellow cards up to and including the second Sunday in April will receive a 2 match suspension. Any player who receives 15 yellow cards before the end of the season will receive an automatic 3 match suspension.
The FA website is a great resource for suspension information, current suspensions can be found along with lists of all players close to suspension (currently 4 yellow cards). However it is also possible to search by team and check the amount of cards for all players in each squad, so its always worth a look before making any transfers.

[/three_fourth]Branislav Ivaonvic picked up a red card in the match against Manchester United at the weekend, but the one match suspension was served on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup so he will be free to take to the field at the weekend against QPR.
No other red cards were flashed at the weekend, however, two were shown in the midweek cup games, although only one of these will lead to a Premier League suspension. On Tuesday Federico Fernandez of Swansea picked up a red card against Liverpool, however this has subsequently been rescinded and as a result he will not miss any games. This was followed by a red card for Peter Crouch on Wednesday night and a suspension will follow. At the time of writing the length of this suspension is not yet known, nor is it known if Peter will appeal, so keep an eye on the news for more information.
Phil Bardsley of Stoke will miss this weekend’s game against West Ham, having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the cup game against Southampton, he will not be able to play until Stoke meet Spurs on 9th November.
The yellow card count is now starting to clock up for a good few players with the players below all on 4 yellow cards to date. One more yellow and a one match suspension will ensue:
Cesc Fabregas Chelsea
Jerome Williams Crystal Palace
Steven Naismith Everton
Lee Cattermole Sunderland
Craig Gardener West Brom
Winston Reid West Ham
So, in a nutshell, all we have to do is keep track of the red and yellow cards……….errrrm well no, that’s not strictly true. We also have to keep an eye on social media!
Rio Ferdinand has been handed a £25,000 fine and a three match ban, to commence with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, following a comment he made on twitter. He will now miss the three league games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle, and will not be free to play until 29th November against Leicester. Rio was also ordered to attend “an education programme”…………………..it would be too easy to follow this up with numerous jokes, but you know we don’t do that kind of thing, so let’s just hope he remembers to turn up!
When are the Chelsea and United pressers? Waiting on Falcao and/or Costa news.
I seen a comment on TFPL a few minutes ago saying the Chelsea presser is at 12.30 or 1. Not sure about the United one, probably in or around the same time i’d imagine.
Afternoon folks…
Chelsea presser is at 12:30 Raz.
Man United presser is at 15:30.
Raz, Mourinho at 12.30 UK time, LVG at 4pm.
Would you like a link to Jose’s? It’s normally fairly entertaining if he amuses you!
Hi Cookster. A link to the presser would be great if you have it mate
Well here’s the link to Jose if anyone wants to listen – will be live in 2/3 minutes…..

Thanks Cookie, mucho appreciado
Hey guys not gonna be inline till tom, want to get hazard in but not sure who I would drop. Leaning towards leaving as is this week . What you think?
Hacko – Costa, Fábregas and Hazard is a bit of an overkill, don’t you think? I would keep it as it is and look into getting Di Maria next week.
Maybe get Baines in for Ivanovic in the near future. Btw if you want Hazard, then drop Fábregas.
– Which would be a sideways move.
Hacko – Leave as is for sure. To get Hazard you would have to bin Fabregas and take a hit, just to get a different Chelsea mid. Cesc is about as undroppable as can be, in my opinion.
Actually, you could bin Taylor for Chambers but it’s not exactly a must sell.
Yeah thanks can’t argue that logic I just want a few mor differentials in my side want Baines just haven’t had the chance also wanna get refi of sterling siggy (for his tough run) but will re asses next week, thanks again good luck to you guys hope it is a fruitful week!!
Diego Costa is “available”
OPR = destroyed! :hippo:
You bringing him back in Cookie?
Probably, but not definitely – will wait until tomorrow morning.
Falcao dropping tonight so unless I’m hearing something like RvP and Rooney injured so Falcao must play 90 minutes it’s Falcao out and Costa in. Costa will probably also right before tonight. Already @ +2k and the news isn’t even out that long.
Available isn’t the same as starting is it? What if he only plays 20 minutes? You reckon he will start?
Falcao out – back in Costa as Captain !
David Silva confirmed as out, could be 3 weeks. Yaya should be fit.
Jose Callejon with what is being called the miss of the century.
This is impressively bad, seriously if a defender had cleared it like that it’d be one of the highlights of his career.
