[/three_fourth]As the season progresses, it’s time to start keeping an eye on the red and yellow card count for our players and transfer targets, in order to make sure we can field 11 players each week. With cup matches also playing a part with regard to suspensions, holding that transfer until later in the week can sometimes pay dividends.
In brief, any player who gets a red card during a game will receive a suspension, normally between 1 and 3 games, depending on what has done, however players also receive suspensions for yellow cards. Any player who receives 5 yellow cards up to and including 31st Dec will receive a 1 match suspension. Any player who receives 10 yellow cards up to and including the second Sunday in April will receive a 2 match suspension. Any player who receives 15 yellow cards before the end of the season will receive an automatic 3 match suspension.

The FA website is a great resource for suspension information, current suspensions can be found along with lists of all players close to suspension (currently 4 yellow cards). However it is also possible to search by team and check the amount of cards for all players in each squad, so its always worth a look before making any transfers.

[/three_fourth]Branislav Ivaonvic picked up a red card in the match against Manchester United at the weekend, but the one match suspension was served on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup so he will be free to take to the field at the weekend against QPR.
No other red cards were flashed at the weekend, however, two were shown in the midweek cup games, although only one of these will lead to a Premier League suspension. On Tuesday Federico Fernandez of Swansea picked up a red card against Liverpool, however this has subsequently been rescinded and as a result he will not miss any games. This was followed by a red card for Peter Crouch on Wednesday night and a suspension will follow. At the time of writing the length of this suspension is not yet known, nor is it known if Peter will appeal, so keep an eye on the news for more information.
Phil Bardsley of Stoke will miss this weekend’s game against West Ham, having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the cup game against Southampton, he will not be able to play until Stoke meet Spurs on 9th November.
The yellow card count is now starting to clock up for a good few players with the players below all on 4 yellow cards to date. One more yellow and a one match suspension will ensue:

Cesc Fabregas Chelsea
Jerome Williams Crystal Palace
Steven Naismith Everton
Lee Cattermole Sunderland
Craig Gardener West Brom
Winston Reid West Ham

So, in a nutshell, all we have to do is keep track of the red and yellow cards……….errrrm well no, that’s not strictly true. We also have to keep an eye on social media!
Rio Ferdinand has been handed a £25,000 fine and a three match ban, to commence with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, following a comment he made on twitter. He will now miss the three league games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle, and will not be free to play until 29th November against Leicester. Rio was also ordered to attend “an education programme”…………………..it would be too easy to follow this up with numerous jokes, but you know we don’t do that kind of thing, so let’s just hope he remembers to turn up!

How do I use my 2FT this GW? 0.5M itb.

I hate it this season where I am running out of ideas to use FTs.

    Hey folks,
Thats my team for the week, still have a FT but not sure if i need to use it?
    What ye think?

    Raziel says:

Ok, so pondering if I should use my FT to replace Falcao with Costa. Falcao also has fitness issues. Will get dude sooner rather than later but for now Costa might be the one to have. My team. 1 FT left.

I think Costa is worth the risk because Chelsea faces QPR.

Raz, you’re in a nice spot because you can do a straight swap for Costa with one move and replace Falcao who probably won’t start anyway. I think Costa will be raring to go tomorrow and I think he’ll play most of the match. I’d bring him back in if I could do it in one move, but I think I’m going to see if he gets through the match OK and possible do it next week with my 2 FTs. If I were you I’d grab Costa for QPR and then get Falcao back when you want him.

Hey guys, I think I’m going to hold my FT this week so I have 2 FT to work with next week. I have enough money to get Hazard in for Eriksen this week, but Eriksen plays AV who are leaking goals like crazy so I don’t think it’s a ‘must’. My two ideas are either Hazard in for Eriksen and doubling up on Chelsea midfield without Costa, or taking Sakho and Eriksen out for Costa and Boyd next week for free (or I could do it for a hit this week). Would you recommend holding the transfer or doing one of these moves before QPR tomorrow?

    Foster (Myhill)
    Baines Wisdom Alderweireld
    Eriksen Fabregas Tadic DiMaria Siggy
    Pelle (VC) Aguero (C)

    Subs: Sakho Dummet Hutton

      NIN says:

Howdy Red smile Eriksen -> Hazard is a very tempting transfer i must say. I think there’s good potential for a massacre at the Bridge this week.

      • RedVT says:

Haha, I think you’re right NIN! And I think Hazard is bound to explode one of these weeks. Hazard in would effectively mean going with a 3-5-2 for the next little while and leaving either Siggy or Sakho on the bench each week. 3-5-2 means a strong bench but possibly leaving points there some weeks, while a 3-4-3 with Costa is more traditional. I’m kind of afraid to make that big choice without seeing them play tomorrow!! laugh

        • NIN says:

Red, indeed, that’s the thing with Hazard, he can seem quiet for a while and then bang, monster hauls left right and center. It’s tough to judge which would be more profitable between Hazard in for no hit (presumed (c) also), and Costa in, (c), with a -4.

        • RedVT says:

Yeah, I’ve been waffling over it all week! I do like the idea of a stronger bench in a 3-5-2, and for 1 million more than a cheapo player (I got him at 5.6) Sakho is a sweet first sub to have the option of using. It’s just a scary proposition to not have Costa with his high ownership and points potential! I have a feeling I’ll be sweating over this one until the deadline, ha! Thanks for the replies NIN, hope you score some huge points this weekend my friend. smile

        • NIN says:

Indeed. As was mentioned in this weeks podcast, a stronger bench for the December fixtures is no bad thing, in fact it’s preferable. Still though, it’s impossible to not be worried about Costa going bonkers. The joys 😉

Cheers for the well wishes mate. Hopefully green arrows for all of us

        • Raziel says:

I like NiN’s suggestions. Think Hazard points also depend on Costa playing (or not playing). Hazard can explode any game though and he seems to be close to his true form. He could score 15 points tomorrow and Costa just 5. You neer know.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks Raz. Would you swap Eriksen for Hazard this week, or save the transfer and see what happens in the QPR match before deciding or who to get out of Hazard and Costa? Costa coming off after 20 minutes tomorrow would sure make my decision easier!!

        • Raziel says:

Hard one. Both could do well this GW. Eriksen hasn’t really delivered what he could’ve. Just three goals I see and 0 assists. That must be disappointing. Hard one, this one is on you. Both could do well. If I think both can do equally good I’d take a look in the long run. Which one do I want to have and keep. Atm, Hazard is beyond my grasp but he looks like someone for the long run once you have him. However, having Eriksen does free up cash for other players if you’re planning to make future changes. Again, a gut thing.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks Raz, much appreciated! Best of luck to you this weekend, keep climbing that world ranking mate!! smile
