The attacking players you need in your Fantasy Football team
After what was the shortest break ever, with the 2019-20 campaign extended, the Premier League is back and it’s already proving to be another exciting season – full of surprises. And with a new season comes another chance for all the budding managers out there to select their Fantasy Football squads. Whether it’s a league amongst family, friends or colleagues, there’s nothing quite like the competition. So, let’s round up the current crop of attacking players you need to consider when making upcoming transfers.
1. Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur
Cost: £10.8m
Points: 60
It’s been a good start for Tottenham, who after losing their opening game of the season to Everton, have gone on an unbeaten run. Harry Kane has contributed to a third of Spurs’ goals so far this season, most recently bagging a brace to set up a three-goal lead against West Ham, which they went on to squander. Kane is a solid choice for anyone’s Fantasy team – although last season he scored a total of 158 points, the lowest return in six seasons. The latest English Premier League odds from Paddy Power put the Englishman as joint-favourite to win the Golden Boot come the end of the campaign, and he’s already made seven assists, so put him in your team today!
2. Son Heung-Min – Tottenham Hotspur
Cost: £9.4m
Points: 58
Son’s had a wonderful start to the season, scoring seven goals and creating two assists – and the much-loved South Korean is currently the division’s joint-top scorer, along with Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin. £9.4m is quite a steal for a player who is a regular starter and knows where the goal is. He’s a popular choice, with 50% of players choosing the midfielder for their set-up – and history suggests he’s a solid inclusion, racking up between 159 and 178 points these last few seasons. Sonny will be integral to Spurs’ success this year, so he’ll be an integral player in your Fantasy team too.
3. Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
Cost: £12.3m
Points: 48
A slightly pricier option here, but that’s the price you pay when you’re selecting a two-time Golden Boot winner. Salah, who scored 19 goals last campaign – finishing some way behind Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, with 24 – has started this season brightly, with six goals in five games. He was recently on the scoresheet in the Merseyside Derby and is being tipped to end the season as the Golden Boot winner. When it comes to his Fantasy Football history, the Egyptian forward has averaged 265 points over the last three seasons, and there’s no reason why he couldn’t make it to a total of 150 Premier League goals this season.
4. Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton
Cost: £7.7m
Points: 43
Everton bagged themselves a complete bargain in 2016, when they secured the services of Calvert-Lewin for a mere £1.5m from Sheffield United. The Englishman has gone from strength to strength, and was awarded with a first international call-up earlier this month for his bright start to the Premier League campaign. Last season was the 23-year-old’s breakthrough, as the striker made 36 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 13 goals. After scoring on the opening day of the season (against Tottenham) and bagging a hat-trick against West Brom, Calvert-Lewin has scored in every Premier League game since and is a great value asset to a Fantasy team.
