Photo 02-01-2014 11 40 06With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!

Does anyone know why Gazzaniga didn’t play for Southampton on Wednesday? Will Kelvin Davis be the preferred keeper now?

      TheDreamers says:

Red – I don’t and its bugging me as I have him in my wc team at the moment. Hopefully some on hear can shed some light. I do know he has been injured and Gazzaniga looked shaky at times and might not be ready.

do you know when Boruc is back?

      • Albertini says:

As far as I remember from when Boruc got injured, I’ve read that Davis was the 2nd choice keeper but was also injured, so, Gazzaniga played some games until Davis has recovered. Now it will most probably Davis playing until Boruc gets back.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks Albertini. Davis at 3.9 would be pretty tempting for a budget keeper if he’s indeed starting ahead of Gazzaniga while Boruc is out.

      • RedVT says:

Not sure about Boruc. Physio Room has him listed as ‘no return date’, so I’d guess he’s out for the foreseeable future. I just wish I knew who was going to be starting out of Gazzaniga or Davis. I think Davis will start for their FA Cup match this weekend, but I don’t know about after that. BTW, if you haven’t seen Physio Room before, it’s an excellent resource for injury information. http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php

      The B says:

Red its probably based on favour, the manager just favours Davis at this point, maybe because Gazz looks unconvincing behind the stick.

And exactly a month ago Boruc was injured and was due back in few weeks, so my guess is we should have him back some time in January.

      Andy says:

On Gazzaniga I think he was only playing because both Boruc and Davis were injured, Davis recent return from injury has seen him reinstated into the GK position.

I read a report (may have been a blog) a few weeks ago and they stated that although Davis is a bad replacement for Boruc, Gazzaniga is worse. I’d expect Davis to continue as GK till Boruc returns from injury.

Here’s my updated WC team (for like the fifth time)

    Mannone/Marshall
    Koscielny/Coleman/Shaw/Ward/Chester
    Oscar/Silva/Walcott/Mutch/Livermore
    Rodriguez/Suárez/Rooney

I have .3 in the bank to get Aguero when he’s back.
The keepers rotate well, as do Ward and Chester.
    Any suggestions?

    Cabaye and Krul now doubtful.

    CynicalSteve says:

Cookie, can I get an opinion?

    Mannone

    Coleman
    Mertesacker
    Terry

    Hazard
    Walcott
    Silva
    Cabaye

    Suarez
    Rooney
    Lukaku

    (K. Davis, Glen Johnson, Ward, Pozuelo)

I have 1 FT, 0.8 in the bank.

    Should I do:

    Rooney/Pozuelo -> J Rod and Yaya for a -4?

I’m scared to not have Yaya against a depleted Newcastle. He’s scored in his last 3 matches vs Newcastle.

    Thanks.

    JEET TOP 4 says:

The Newcastle manager revealed his concerns about Krul, plus revealed that Cabaye got injured during the match at the Hawthorns but having used all three subs he couldn’t replace him.

“Cabaye picked up an injury on Wednesday (West Brom) and I would have liked to sub him but I didn’t have any left.

“I am a little concerned about my goalkeeper who is doubtful.”
