Around the Grounds – FPL Team News – GW38

Around the Grounds – FPL Team News – GW38 Welcome to Around the Grounds – FPL Team News – GW38. Here we at last, GW38 upon us and a rest from all things fantasy wise (sports at least) awaits us – unless of course you fancy playing Fantasy Euros, Fantasy Tour de France, Fantasy Cricket or anything else that Init will try and beat you at. The craziness of the last few months comes to a conclusion on Sunday and we’re going from one extreme to the other in terms of fixtures. From being used to one match at a time and a game-week being stretched across numerous days, GW38 sees all the matches being played concurrently, namely at 4pm. Or 5pm if you’re AJW. Or 11am if you’re Mito. Possibly 8.40pm if you’re Constatine? 4pm UK time it is. Sunday. The league is of course deci...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 38 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 38. Here we are, the end of the road. It’s been a long and eventful journey from those pre-season days in August all the way through to the madness of the last 3 game-weeks. Regarding the actual football itself, much of course has already been decided and there is little to play for on the last day – just the battle between Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal for the final two Champions League places. As you should be aware, all the matches take place at the same time, namely Sunday at 3pm UK time – therefore this week’s deadline is Sunday at 2pm UK time. Much of the focus will of course be on those still fighting for the top four while Chelsea will receive their trophy in ...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 37

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 37 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 37. Well I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s day off because we’re off to the races again with the season’s biggest DGW – 15 matches, starting with two this evening and then it’s spread over seven successive days of Premier League and FPL action. Yep, it’s go, go, go – it’s crazy season, it’s a week that may well make or break your season and if your other half moans just tell them that it’s nearly all over and to stop whinging! As I have just mentioned, we kick off tonight therefore our deadline is another early one – 18.45 UK time this evening. It’s the Toffees who get us going as they host Watford at Goodison before West Bro...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 36

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 36 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 36. And then there were three. Yep folks, we’re nearly there, the race is nearly run and the finishing post is in sight. Good news for some, sad news for others, but whatever your position the three game-weeks need to be played out with potentially huge points on offer given the double game-weeks of this week and next and some appetising fixtures in store for the final day. This week is a mini DGW, let’s call it a small dgw then, for the only teams to play twice are the holiday bound Saints and the shrinking giant that is Arsenal. First up folks, I need to remind you of this week’s early deadline which is this evening at 7pm UK time. This is because we have a nice friendly lo...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 35 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 35. It’s non stop isn’t it?! No rest for the wicked they say, but come Tuesday morning we can put our feet up and relive the excitement / stress / heartache of the previous ten days! Until then, we have three more days of footy, another chance to extend your lead, improve your rank or close the gap on your leader. And don’t moan too much, it’s GW35 for goodness sake – you have all summer to rest and you’ll be moaning you have nothing to do. It’s another late deadline this week as GW35 doesn’t have a lunchtime match on Saturday, instead four 3pm matches kick us off – Southampton welcome relegation scramblers Hull, not yet mathematically safe...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 34

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 34 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 34. The fun begins! Not long now folks, just about 24 hours until DGW34 kicks off, a true football feast that runs from Saturday until Thursday and includes DGWs for Crystal Palace, Boro and Man Utd. Weeks of plannning have been taking place for this – the business end of the season with so much still up for grabs. Chelsea’s lead at the top has been cut to 4pts, the scrap at the bottom between Hull and Swansea looks like going the distance, the Top 4 is far from certain and if all that is not enough we also have the FA Cup semi-finals taking place this weekend between Chelsea and Spurs and Man City and Arsenal. It’s relentless, it’s non-stop, it’s action stations,...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 32

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 32 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 32. Thick and fast, just as we like them. Anyway enough about a night in Essex, we have another game-week to negotiate. Points galore are in store ladies and gentlemen, we truly are in the business end of the season. This weekend is a slightly more sedate affair than the midweek fun – GW32 lasts three days and starts at the Lane where Spurs host Watford. Five 3pm matches follow – Man City will be a FPL favourite this week as they welcome Hull, Boro and Burnley bore us to sleep, Liverpool go to Stoke, West Brom entertain Southampton and West Ham and Swansea face off in the capital. The evening sees Chelsea’s trip to Bournemouth. Sunday starts with another bore-fest as Man Unit...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30. It illustrates just how boring those international breaks are that I remain interested in MLS and even found myself watching a game last Saturday night, while for the site, the most interesting thing that happened was the education in gambling undertaken by our very own Inittowinit. We now make a welcome return to FPL before I get too involved in the ‘awesome’ MLS and before Mrs Init finds out what he’s been up to with her housekeeping money. It’s Init himself who will be excited as GW30 kicks off as his beloved Everton stroll across the park to play Liverpool Saturday lunchtime. Six 3pm matches follow as Spurs visit home specialists Burnley, runaway leaders Chelsea host the in-form Palace...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 29

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 29 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 29. No Cup distractions this weekend, no teams blanking, it’s back to basics, the super ten, a proper two-day game-week. We kick off Saturday lunchtime as Arsene’s flops go to the flip flop wearing Baggies in a match the Gooners will feel they will need to win to keep alive their top four ambitions. Five matches follow at 3pm – Palace host Watford, Hull go to face the gauntlet of Lukaku’s and Everton’s home form, Chelsea can put more daylight between them and their nearest challengers as they go to Stoke, if you’re still awake then prepare to sleep as Sunderland face Burnley in a bore-off special and in-form(ish) Leicester go to out of form (ish) West Ham. O...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 28

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 28 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 28. Small is beautiful they say – and there is some truth to that. Remember Michael Owen bursting through the Argentian defence. Or Kylie parading that little white dress in Can’t Get You Out Of My Head. Or for you ladies, Tom Cruise in Top Gun. It’s not the size that matters, it’s how you use it, they also say – and there is definitely some truth in that. Which leads us beautifully into our GW28 preview. It’s a game-week with a difference – just four fixtures await us due to the FA Cup Quarter-finals. So should we expect an average score 40% of the usual size? Should we attack the game-week or resist changes and hope for a low average? Now where is th...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 27

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 27 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 27. Earlier than expected but the first double game-week of the season is upon us as Stoke and Man City are both at the double. Of course, one of these is more interesting than the other – but I wouldn’t write off City so easily 😉 . This obviously means an extended game-week lasting from Saturday lunchtime through to Wednesday evening with only Tuesday as a rest day. It’s City’s neighbours Man Utd who kick start proceedings as they welcome Bournemouth, before five 3pm matches follow – Hull visit Leicester, Stoke start their double as they host Middlesbrough, travel sick Burnley go to Swansea, Watford and Southampton face off and two of England’s finest do ba...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 26

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 26 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 26. The two week break from FPL has given us much time to mull over transfers, watch the price changes with panic and disbelief and pray that none of our number gets injured in any of the various Cup matches being played. Frustrating as it may have been, FPL now becomes intense, with every transfer valuable – a potential DGW next week is followed by a larger blank game-week in GW28 and then the fun of the rearranged games creating large DGWs comes into play. Due to Sunday’s League Cup Final between Manchester Utd and Southampton there are only eight Premier League fixtures with Arsenal and Man City joining the Cup finalists in missing GW26. With Man City not playing, leaders Chelse...[Read More]
