The Boot Room – FPL Fantasy Premier League GW21

Photo 02-01-2014 11 40 06With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!

Anyone considered Dempsey at 7.4?????? For me he’s just a bit too expensive?!?!?! smile

    • 79.1

Didn’t realise they had added Dempsey. 7.4 is a bit steep if you ask me.

Peaky – 7.4 and not 7.5? How specific smile If I was wild-carding now I’d stick him in there! Sunderland at home.. then again, it is Fulham…

      • Andy says:

It’s because he was available to sign for the Spuds (7.5) at the start of the season before his transfer to Seattle. If he hadn’t been listed at the start of the season I doubt his value would of been set that high.

      peaky

More reliable options out there like Lallana or Cabaye. And he is coming into a struggling team currently. Best avoid I think.

      peakydave* says:

Thing is he’s playing for an inept team!!! For me he’s about 1 mill too expensive!! smile

    • 79.5

Alright peaky lad. Bit too much for me. Good player but Fulham are a different animal these days. So did I see you’d pushed the big red button on your wildcard?

      • peakydave* says:

Hi Alex mate ive not pushed it yet but will be!! Trying to put some of my arch rivals off the scent by appearing to make an early 2 transfers!!! Will prob do it tomorrow as there doesn’t seem to be much transfer movement today!I see we’re still neck and neck mate!No WC interest??? smile

        • I saw that too mate, it’s going down to the wire I feel!! I toyed with the WC but not enough need as yet so going to hold fire. Only four transfers I want to make right now and not drastic. Your team looks solid what’s thinking behind early wc?

        • peakydave* says:

          GREED!!! lol
          Looking at Szcz Boruc
          Mertesacker,Coleman,Baines,Chester,Briggs
          Oscar,Hazard,Walcott,Silva
          J-Rod,Suarez,Adebayor
Can get Aguero in 3 moves and as no plans to transfer next week will be a 4 point hit whenever it happens!!
Loads of double ups as I hate conforming!!!! 😉

        • peakydave* says:

          Whittingham 5th midfielder!!

        • I like that team, first glance I wasn’t sure but after a more detailed appraisal its solid. I like your not conforming comment BUT are you sure about Baines and Coleman, its a lot of money tied up in a team likely to finish 5th or 6th. So which forward would you lose for Aguero? Have you thought of Mutch for fifth mid, cheaper and keeping pace with Witts nicely?;)

        • Peaky, just took a second look and a few things you could change so understand if you did hit confirm!!! smile

        • peakydave* says:

Adebayor I think!!! Its a work in progress still I might just play it by ear and see what happens!!! Baines left wing Coleman right the way I see it its a potent force and Norwich,West brom,Liverpool (prob no cleanie but always goals in the derby!!) Then villa I think i’m all set to shoot up dem rankings!!! 😉

        • I like your thinking peakster!! Your giving me itchy fingers now! I picked Ade as a potential gold mine (I had him a years ago!) a few weeks ago now gutted I didn’t follow my own advice!

Zaha + Fellaini = £42mill = Ozil, well played arsene laugh

    peakydave* says:

If anyones not sure about J-Rod over next 2 weeks,Osvaldo was suspended today until the 28th Jan due to his involvement in a fracarse(!) with Newcastle the other week!!! 😉

Evening all, am i right in thinking that if everyone in ff got rid of aguero, so nobody owned him, currently 262,296 people do, his price would fall drastically, then we could all buy him on the cheap ?

    WC played:
    Szczesny…K.Davis
    Coleman, Zabeleta, Koscielny, Turner, Ward
    lallana, wally, hazard, yaya, sterling
    Rooney, Suarez, J.Rod

0.5 cash to spend on rooney—>aguero when fit.
    any suggestions?
    1) i am aware of sterling, and will replace him after 2 weeks with who? mutch? or best mid under5 mil
    2) koscielny or sagna?
    3) should i get a s’oton defender in?have great fixtures- i already have 3 player: davis, lallana and jrod.
    4) are ward and turner best defenders under 4.1 mil? or the best 2 def for 8.2?

    • 83.1

Hazard mate, team looks good! I like your cheap combo, good value. Mutch is a good choice for sub 5mil and Ole has already earmarked him as a player that will fit his style. Re gooners defenders, I’m not sure!

    • 83.2

      hazardeden

I have Sterling on the radar as I think he is decent value short-term. Mutch or Redmond as your exit-move.

I like Koscielny but Sagna as full back seems to be offering more attacking-wise.

I’m monitoring Shaw at £4.8M and I assume you’ll play Szczesny most weeks so Davis could be changed.

Have you considered Chester – Hull are quite reliable, particularly a home.

      • hazardeden10 says:

it seems sterling wont play the full 90 anymore when sturridge return, so will go to mutch.
yeah as a full back that makes sense, but cb’s tend to get the bonus points when they keep a cs, unless someone up top changes that!! am i right in saying kos also has a good head, so chance of goals from corners?
not to sure if davis will play, but shaw looks to be the move i would make, or clyne maybe??
thanks for the help GP smile

    Wally Ozil hazard silva erikkson
    Suarez aguero berahino

    Or

    Peroni mannone

    Wally Ozil silva hazard coleback

      hazardeden10 says:

depends what you want to play? 3-5-2 is top, 3-4-43 is the bottom

      • hazardeden10 says:

also i wouldnt jump on the eriksen bandwagon yet, hes scored and got an assist last week, but hasnt done much else, for an extra 0.1 mil i sub in lallana.

        • Mitro says:

I can put lallana in for Eriksson.

I’ve gone with 3-4-3 all season and I’ve done pretty good. Is 3-5-2 risky??

        • hazardeden10 says:

well…. i like 3 big names up front and have been player 3-4-3 all season, but since WC i have gone with jrod as a 3rd striker, and will probably play 3-5-2, unless jrod has a good fixture.
i would defo do lallana—>eriksen, s’otons fixtures look promising, and he is the main part of their team.

    • 84.2
      NIN says:

Mitro – I think the 3-4-3 is a better team,Arsenal heavy though so how about Ozil >> Cabaye/Lallana and use the extra few million to improve the defence to balance it out a bit more?? Just a thought.
