Photo 02-01-2014 11 40 06With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!

    Morning chaps…

Been tinkering with WC ..not active.!

    My current team linked…
But Wadya think of this potential WC team..?

    Krul
    Coleman / Koscielny / Fonte
    Gerrard / Yaya / Hazard / Lallana / Walcott
    Aguero / Suarez

Subs Gk. Davis / Berahino / Ward / Chester

    Please rate my “maybe” team…Ta

      Bigpopz says:

Also could downgrade Fonte > Clyne….Alowing 2nd Gk upgrade Davis > Mannone / Mcgregor..?

      • Veer says:

Big popz, I think you should do that, but you don’t have to downgrade to Clyne. Southampton defensive coverage doesn’t look that nessecary with their recent form. If you could find a way to get Rodriguez your third striker that would be good.

        • Bigpopz says:

          Veer…

Thinking going with 2 of the best strikers in the game upfront….not planning on using Barahino unless forced to….to get Rodrguez, I would need to unbalance my team to get the 1.7m cash to swap him for Barahinho….I’d still want to play my 5 top Mids….so Rodriguez would still be on the Bench…?

          Your thoughts..?

        • Bigpopz says:

          Veer..
Unless you think Rodriguz is a better option than any of those 5 mids..?

      Andy says:

Not a fan of the 3-5-2 or Berahinho.

Berahinho will be a bit of a gamble as if he doesn’t pay off you’ll have very limited options in the 4.5 million range for a replacement striker. I’d much prefer a 3-4-3 with a cheap fifth midfielder as you have far greater cover options from that position.

      • Bigpopz says:

        Andy….

hear what your saying 3-4-3 has served me well….but with so many strikers injured / out of form my thinking is …have the 2 very best upfront…with 5 of the best mids supplying the bullets…?

Who would you drop from my mid to upgrade 3rd striker for..?

        • Andy says:

Yaya to Silva’s not a good option for your team so I’d probably look at Hazard to Oscar.

If 3-4-3 has served you well then it ain’t broke so needs no fixing.

Bigpopz – personally, I’m a massive fan of your team, and what you propose. It’s very similar to my WC team. I’m planning to go even further and downgrade defense in full to have 5 super MFs (using the 10 day break to build team value to ensure I can accommodate Aguero when he returns). If Ramsey recaptures his form, then you’re on an absolute winner.

      • Bigpopz says:

        Blue….

Sounds like we’ve got similar ideas going forward…let’s see your potential WC team …so we can discuss it..!

        • blue_moon says:

          G’day Bigpopz

          Experimenting with the following squad:

          Mannone/Speroni
          Williamson Ward Turner Chester Whittaker
          Yaya Hazard Walcott Gerrard Ramsey
          Suarez Aguero Berahino

Intention to play 3-5-2. Alternatively, am considering sticking with Lukaku upfront and going all out in MF with Yaya, Hazard, Walcott, Gerrard, Silva.

Interesting discussion point is whether the expensive defenders will continue to top the defense lists. My personal view is NO, given the desperation that will unfold in the last third of the season as teams fight to secure European places or avoid relegation. I do have the security of my season-long WC in hand, so can afford to experiment.

        • Bigpopz says:

          Blue….

Are you happy with that super cheap defence..?

          Luvin the mids BTW…..

          where does Lukaku fit in..?

Are you gunna use him untill Aguero fit..?

        • blue_moon says:

Yeah Popz, will use Lukaku until Aguero playing 90 mins again. It’s a high-risk strategy to go all out in MF and frontline, but I’m prepared to give it a shot. If Lukaku remains (ie not Aguero), there will be the option of using the surplus funds to upgrade one of the defenders to a super-defender (eg Coleman of Mertesacker). I’m expecting to make around 0.4 – 0.5m (possibly more) over the next week in team value which will make a huge difference to my plans.

        • blue_moon says:

Also looking very closely at Ozil. Cannot believe the way he is being written off in FF circles. If his price continues to fall, happy days smile He surely must get a run in a 3-5-2 squad!

        • peakydave* says:

I will tell you why blue_moon,because since Walcott has been back to match fitness and playing 90 mins (ie 5 matches) Ozil has scored 10 points and Walcott has scored 47 points! If you got points for assisting the assister Ozil would be Fantasy gold mate! smile

        • blue_moon says:

Surely the FF powers-that-be can build in points for assisting the assister? Perhaps an item for the 2014/15 suggestion box 😉

        • peakydave* says:

lol I know what you mean!! Can u imagine the confusion????? They cant even make their minds up with allocating who the normal assists go to?!?!?! smile

        • blue_moon says:

The website has a link to some “ultimate” FF paid game in 2014/15. Any idea on how this game might look?

      The B says:

I think i like the team.

The only thing id prefer here is Ward>B Turner.

Cardiff has better home games than Palace in the coming half, so i think B Turner will cover your defence real good.

      • Bigpopz says:

        Cheers ..B

I’m sweating on Aguero to make this happen, but what about 3-5-2…. It’s bit like Marmite….. Love it / Hate it…?

My only other tweak to revert back to 3-4-3…would possibly be to sacrifice, Lallana to a cheaper mid…then upgrade Berahinho to say…..Remy / Lukaku / Rodriguez…?

        • The B says:

For further 2 weeks, i think Lukaku is solid. And after that JayRod/Bony/Berbs could be considered. JayRod and Bony have good fixtures, while Berbs has returned goals in last 3 GWs started.

On paper the team looks good, but we need to see how well this template does. Throwing this team for WC could be a risk, as you already know how tough it is to revert formations without taking hits. laugh

        • blue_moon says:

Hey B – for whatever it’s worth, 3-5-2 improved my ranking by over 100,000 places in the past 2 GWs!

    Injury news..

Any update on Ramsey…I’m thinking Lallana at the mo, but would consider swapping to Ramsey if & when fit..?

    The B says:

I think Mannone should be nailed on now, and FPL managers should stop worrying about Westwood as he has a surgery now and manager expects him to remain inactive for the rest of the season.

Any of the WCers getting Lambert from SOTON as 3rd striker?

We all know how talented he is and what he is capable of with the set pieces in his account, with easy coming fixtures of SOTON and suspension of Osvaldo, he could be a delightful addition to any team. smile

    Thoughts?
